Hi all, we're about to start FET following an unsuccessful round of ICSI last year (well, we got the bfp, but then I miscarried shortly after Sad). But... time to get back on the bike and go again...

Anyone else going through this?

Hey all-sorry have been AWOL-had my laparoscopy/hysteroscopy dye test and d+c thurs-think it sounds worse than it was! Still bit sore, bruised and gloomy Sad Want this to be done and dusted and have the outpatient appt and get on with being reunited with our Frostie. JUST WANT IT ALL NOW!! Let's wait again.....
How is everyone? Looks like we're all singing from the same c*ppy sheet but there must be light at the end of this tunnel-surely :) Good luck with stims Ellan-when's your first stim scan? Rakkers welcome-would be good to hear your experience of natural FET-hope it's going alright. Hi Jumping how's it going lovely? Am just catching up with all the news-don't even go there with me and people GOING ON about their children/baby dust/"when are you having a baby" business-sooo insensitive. My sister's just left but we are lucky to be very close-she has 3 kids who me and DH look after and adore-I hope I will never be like people who clearly forget/don't care how there are people who struggle to conceive.

Pocket I recognise your name from AC thread-am so sorry you've had to endure this awful pain-It is truly terrible-I hope you are okay and it is so hard to make these decisions that I think neither you or DP wish to make but rather 'life' has thrown upon us-it is difficult to be strong but I think you find that strength from somewhere-from your DP-Goodness only knows how my DH still loves me/finds me attractiv!!-I moan and complain so much!-oh dear-love him-just makes me appreciate him!
Take care lovely ladies, will be recuperating this week-have an appt with GP tomorrow-Consultant signed me off work for 4 days but still in pain and so constipated sorry TMI!! Feel a bit fraudy but to heck w it! Am fed up with feeling guilty for having time off work due to subfertility-not enjoying it much either-PROMISE to be more cheerful next post! Confused
xx xx

Hi all, firstly I want to say how much I admire the strength and courage you all have. It's not an easy situation to deal with and the treatment is far from pleasant but its sooo worth it in the end. Next I would like to say good luck for everyone starting or going through treatment at the minute.

Thank you for making me feel welcome and pointing me in the right direction POCKET.
I have PCOS and lost 1 fallopian tube to an ectopic pregnancy when it ruptured. I also have had a few miscarriages but I did successfully have my dd although she was born at 27+4 weeks (1lb 13oz) due to pre eclampsia. She is now a happy healthy 5 year old just a little petite. I am now starting a course of metformin to try and help, and if we get no joy the gp suggested adding clomid. Does anyone have experience of these?

MalibuStacy · 23/01/2012 10:51

Hello, I had Embryo Transfer on Thursday. Now eagerly waiting to POAS.

jumpingjackhash · 23/01/2012 13:33

Just checking in!

Rakkers, did you find Zita helpful? I have her fertility book and found some of it really useful but some of it a bit 'woo' for me but I'm willing to do anything which might help! I'll get the relaxation CD ready for transfer!

Pumpkin, I hope you're putting your feet up and making the most of these days off. You shouldn't feel bad for taking the time to recouperate.

Hey MalibuStacy, how did it go? 2WW can feel like an age, can't it?! Hope you get that bfp!

Hello to everyone else - hope everyone is doing OK!

Hello ladies

I thought I'd join in and say hello :-). We are currently into week 2 of our first round of IVF. I'm keeping my fingers, toes (but not legs ;-) ) crossed that we will be lucky first time around but I'm not holding my breath either. We've been TTC for 2 years having been told that our first born was a miracle child.

I'm wondering where the end point is if we are unsuccessful. Keep trying or finally draw a line under all this constant dissapointment and get on with our lives being grateful for what we have already.

A big hello and good luck to you all xxx

MalibuStacy · 23/01/2012 16:43

Good luck to you too Emma. Whereabouts are you cycling?

EmmaPW · 23/01/2012 17:19

Hi MalibuStacy

You can tell I'm new to all this! What do you mean? Which hospital?

Karbea · 23/01/2012 17:46

Hello,

Thought id say "hi", I'm currently doing my monitoring phase at the argc. So hopefully starting treatment soon! This will hopefully be our first baby, first round of icsi.

EmmaPW · 23/01/2012 17:51

Hi Karbea!

My fingers are officially crossed for you!

Em xx

Karbea · 23/01/2012 18:03

Thanks Emma

monkeybumsmum · 23/01/2012 18:16

Hello everybody Smile It's nice to see more of us joining this thread!

Malibu How did your transfer go? Did you have more than one embryo put back? I also has FET on Thursday, and had two put back. It already feels like a ridiculous amount of time has passed since then, I hate 2WW! When's your test date? Good luck!

monkeybumsmum · 23/01/2012 18:16

Pocket1 · 23/01/2012 18:41

Hi Cherry glad you found us. Hopefully one of the lovely gals on his thread will be able to help you. Do try the other thread too Grin

Pocket1 · 23/01/2012 18:43

Wow lots of 2ww-ers. It's awful but hang in there and here's to lots of BFPs!!! Grin

EmmaPW · 23/01/2012 18:48

Hi everyone,

We decided to just have one put back - but I'm concearned we should have said two. We live in a small flat so the possibility of twins was scary.

But twice the chance sounds too tempting....

Em xx

Lotionsandpotions · 23/01/2012 21:52

Hello everyone, can I join too pretty please? We've just failed our 1st round of IVF but have 2 frosties waiting for a FET 'when we're ready'.

How do you know when you're ready medically speaking? My clinic said today that I needed to have had 2 proper bleeds. So my other question is, now I've stopped the progesterone pessaries, clexane and prednisolone, when will my period arrive? And will it be the mother of all AFs? My normal period is only a couple of days, so I'm a bit apprehensive Blush.

My history: aged 42 (nearly 43!), TTC#1 (which sounds like a massive oversight but it took me a long time to find DH). 21d Prog 30 (borderline), 3d FSH c9, AMH 12 with good antral follicle count and ovarian blood flow, so things pretty good for an old-ish bird. HSG 'inconclusive' so not sure if we can conceive naturally, although I did have a miscarriage 6.5 years ago and in all honesty hadn't really realised I was pregnant (I now recognise the funny period as an implantation bleed, doh!). Since then, nothing and in the last 18m of exhaustive efforts using a Clear Blue Fertility Monitor (and SWI) not a sniff of a BFP. So we had a short protocol IVF, which I have to say went really well: 7 eggs, 5 fertilised, 4 x day 3 grade 1 embryos of which 2 put back (just found out today they didn't work) and 2 on ice.

Obviously now want to maximise FET success but don't what else we could have done tbh. Are there any other tests worth having, does anyone know?

Wishing you all lots of luck :)

FatimaLovesBread · 23/01/2012 22:16

Hi Ladies

Just wanted to pop in to say i've got a start date, yay!
Start treatment on CD1 of my next cycle so around 3.5weeks to go
I found out today i'm doing short protocol rather than long.
Has anyone else experienced short protocol?
They must be confident of me getting a few eggs seeing as I need at least 8 to egg share

MalibuStacy · 24/01/2012 01:18

Hi Emma, I actually meant which country. Sorry, I didn't make that clear. I am assuming that everyone here is cycling in the UK.

Pollykitten · 24/01/2012 11:47

hello ladies
I had a bfp then a miscarriage following my first ICSI in November. Just getting back in the saddle with a FET due in about 2 weeks time.
Fingers crossed for everyone

pumpkinjoy · 24/01/2012 11:51

Hi Lotionsandpotions Love the name BTW! Your situation sounds similar to mine-altho my AMH is lower-9 on last count but had same prog 30 as you-my AFs are also sooo short-never had a 'natural' BFP only thru IUI (MMC) and then had IVF (Another MMC) Sad Just been thru all tests and nothing found-resting off work post lap/hyst and dye last thurs-To answer your question-Am no expert-I was advised FET could be after x2 afs so starting cycle again on 3rd af. So much waiting-it is so hard. Sorry to hear of your recent cycle-it is frustrating but you sound very positive which is very good cos its the psych stuff I think which is obv the hardest. From stopping meds, I have never been on pred and clexane-I don't think AF will be too bad-the clexane has 'diluted' things so to speak it could make it heavier I guess and not sure re the prednisolone- That is one test we havnt had re:natural killer cells as my cons doesn't 'think much' of this-we only have our one snowflake on ice so I would be keen to get this done before our FET which am so desp to have.
Hi emma woo hoo for the one special embie! Lots of luck to you.
Hi to everyone too-am rambling now-travelling to my dads later for pampering and will do sneaky shop in John Lewis with xmas vouchers-is that allowed when officially off sick?Am thru with feeling guilty taking time off work through no fault of my own! Also booked accupuncture for friday :) Back to work next week as GP was sweet yesterday-Was so emotional when I saw her-she was so kind-I just burst into tears-the hospital gave me the wrong sick certificate-was meant for someone else and I was so cross! Hey ho-just want all our stories to have happy endings-lots of love to all xxxx

pumpkinjoy · 24/01/2012 11:53

Good luck to Polly too-yes-fingers crossed-must read everyones details again as there are now more of us to chat-sorry to hear of your miscarriage. xxxxx

bugsylugs · 24/01/2012 12:09

Pumpkinjoy of course you can shop. Whilst of sick. Sick or fit note means you cannot do your work and time off is to get better physically mentally and the rest.
Unfortunately scan today was bad am devastated hatchling had grown but stopped. Follow up appt in 3 weeks. So will join you on this thread if you let me.

pumpkinjoy · 24/01/2012 13:51

Bugsy what do you mean? Are you okay? I hate this whole situation life is so cruel-what have the hospital said? Sending love to you xxxxxxxx

KnackeredCow · 24/01/2012 18:43

Hi All

Gosh it's busy on here. It's really great to know others are going through the same thing. Ironically, went for scan and bloods this morning and bumped into one of my close RL friends in the FC waiting room!

Sarlat I don't have hydrosalpinx, but had a left salpingectomy due to paratubal cyst which had damaged my fallopian tube. However, when we were first referred to fertility my FC said that they advise closing off or removing tubes if hydrosalpinx so fluid can't drip into the uterus and cause the loss of an early pregnancy if you've had IVF. Don't know what the evidence is like for this.

Jumping Agree with you about feelings of initial high after BFP and then crashing low with early mc. Like you, our clinic couldn't say why it happened, but really weren't concerned. They saw it as a real positive that IVF had worked and said I was likely to be successful in the future.

Emma I know what you mean about knowing when to stop. I've booked in a counselling session at my FC because I'm really struggling to balance the demands of work with assisted conception, and like you I wonder if and when we should stop if it doesn't work out.

Lotions Our clinic said we were fine to go with the FET as soon as we felt ready emotionally and said there wasn't any need to wait medically. Therefore, as I'm having an unmedicated FET, I've only had 1 AF between MC and the first day of this cycle.

Fatima I did the short protocol on my IVF cycle. I stimmed with 200 units of Gonal F (FSH) daily from day 3 to day 12. Added in Cetrotide daily (antagonist) on day 7 (I think) until day 12. Took Ovitrelle on the evening of day 12 and had egg collection on day 14. I think I started Crinone (progesterone pessaries) on day 15 for two weeks. I did well on the short protocol and got 12 eggs. It would have been more, but my left ovary is difficult to access due to salpingectomy, so because of discomfort during the EC they gave up after collecting just 4 eggs on that side as they had 8 from the right. All eggs fertilised, and we ended up with 4 day 5 blasts, 2 of which were top quality. We had one transferred and one frozen. Anyway good luck for your cycle!

Hello to everyone else I haven't mentioned by name.
