IVF/ICSI/FET - any more for any more?

Hi all, we're about to start FET following an unsuccessful round of ICSI last year (well, we got the bfp, but then I miscarried shortly after Sad). But... time to get back on the bike and go again...

Anyone else going through this?

Hi Ladies,
Great news Josie - really delighted for you to be going ahead with the IUI -that is a relief for you. Fingers crossed.

Milllymoo hope your baseline scan is good tomorrow and you are finding the drugs ok.

Angel - I think you said you start the stim drugs tomorrow - v exciting!About the polar bodies - these are part of the egg only and are a nonessential part . they are removed after ICSI (I don't think normal IVF although I need to check) and the resulting embryos allowed to develop - the results are then inferred back to the info from the egg only and no contribution from the sperm. Other types of biopsy are from day 5 embryos of the trophoectoderm and they are then frozen for use in subsequent FET - but I think more complicated but does give info from egg and sperm then.

Hope you are ok Lizzie?

Hi to Karbea and Jumping

Well I've been for transfer today - starting to sink in now as feels a bit surreal at the time.
This morning only 1 embryo had started to compact and still not at blastocyst when we transferred back this afternoon, but was our best one and looked healthy. Our next best was one with no polar body result - so we didn't use but may freeze tomorrow. Another compacting one this afternoon was one of the ones with abnormal chromosomes. The others were at 12 cell stage and after a lot of deliberating put one of those back too.

So I now have two on board, although the second less likely to develop we were told, but just in case it moves on and the good one doesn't we went for it. Eeeeeeeeeeek!!!!

CareBear1 · 28/03/2012 19:05

OOh how exciting Raspberry, have everything crossed for you. Take it nice and easy for the next two weeks.

Josie that's great news, best of luck for friday.

Raspberryjam · 28/03/2012 19:09

Thanks CareBear - how are you doing ?- I can picture you singing and dancing away- bound to be a week with lots of ups and downs for youxxx

lumili · 28/03/2012 19:28

Raspberry Woo hoo.....you have 2 embies on board, that is great news. Hope the 2 week wait goes quickly for you, everything is crossed :)

Josie IUI on Friday, that is brilliant news, I am so pleased for you. You must be so happy :)

Angel I bet you can't wait until tomorrow night so that you can start stimming. I have never heard of a clinic trying to avoid weekend procedures before. Glad you are joining in on the daily singing, which NOW compilation were you listening to? :)

AFM - well you will be pleased to know (or maybe not!) that staying up until 4.30am to finish my presentation was worth it, as it went very well. However, me being on a high (makes a change) was short lived when I went to the petrol station and then realised that I had left my bank card at home...oops, how embarrassing. I had to tell the garage and then call my DP to get her to give me some card details and had to fill out a form.... I am such a dim wit. I was so focused on ensuring that I had everything that I needed for my presentation that I completely forget about my money... ha ha. My DP is out for work drinks tonight, so I have the house all to myself, what shall I do I wonder!!!

Hope everyone is well.

x

AngelFairy · 28/03/2012 21:54

Wow, Raspberry (& Duggs) thanks for explaining. You're very knowledgeable on this, but I guess you have to be. I take it that you've had the former and not intending on having the latter?
Hang on... I've just read your most recent update... CONGRATULATIONS... 2 embyros!! Well, rest up and do a little as possible, whilst stuffing your face with all things green and scrumptious Hmm

I'm looking forward to being able to do something regarding this cycle. Although I am sure that once I have had EC I shall be piping down a little, as the nurse kindly informed me yesterday that I'll "feel as though I have been kicked in the stomach by a horse" Shock Hmm Confused
I'm starting to think my clinic is a little hillbilly... hey Lumili? But my NOW 80 will keep me in good spirits... Grin I did come across a NOW 38 (not mine!) the other day but drew the line at Spice Girls

When is your next scan Zeebee?

Sorry for all the smileys x

JosieSmith1 · 29/03/2012 08:11

Raspberry that's fantastic news!

Glad your presentation went well Lumili but Blush about leaving your card, although I know people who've done it too and apparently you can pay up to somthinglike 7 days after getting the petrol (never heard of that myself though)

Angel that doesn't sound too nice! I'm sure they're exaggerating Hmm And I'm glad you drew the line at Spice Girls, DH loves them BlushBlush

How are you doing Care, thinking of you Smile

Karbea · 29/03/2012 11:42

Raspberry congrats, how are you feeling?
I must admit I'm finding the 2ww harder than any of the rest of the process :(

I've 6 days left!!!

Thanks very much everyone.

Great distraction Lizzie knocking on all those doors.

Hope the 6 days fly in for you Karbea.

Really keeping fingers crossed for you Josie for you IUI tomorrow and for duggs for EC.

Did you have your scan Millymoo?

Glad your presentation went well lumili - relief- and at least you hadn't lost your card.

Not a very helpful comment Angel - you will be absolutely fine. I remember drifting off to sleep (like a nice G and T) and then waking up in side room with hubby - then tea and toast afterwards. I was a tiny bit crampy last time on one side afterwards and a bit of bleeding like a light period. This time virtually nothing and tiny bit bleeding that day.
I was a bit achy later in day but 2 paracetamol and a good excuse for a lie down.
Don't think your clinic is hillbilly!! Also I hope I haven't freaked anyone with talk of chromosome tests - it is certainly not standard yet.
We have a 4 year old daughter conceived with our first go IVF - 2 day 3 embryos and the NHS clinic were brilliant . Just trust in their judgement they are making the best call for your set of circumstances.................

Raspberryjam · 29/03/2012 19:23

Oh and as for eating greens Angel- will try tomorrow - but today at lunchtime left work and it was like a magnetic pool into Burger King for a whopper meal..................oops...............but soooo good.Blush

Raspberryjam · 29/03/2012 19:24

sorry magnetic pull?????? not sure what a magnetic pool is but sounds interesting........

CareBear1 · 29/03/2012 19:46

Good luck Josie and Duggs for tomorrow!

AFM AF started full blown today which is good as was wondering how long it would take.

Raspberryjam · 29/03/2012 20:45

Care - that's good news.

Karbea · 29/03/2012 22:20

Care that's good news, I hope it's not to painful (hug)

AngelFairy · 29/03/2012 23:19

Good luck for tomorrow Duggs and Josie!

Raspberry too funny re the Whopper meal. Tomorrow is another day, fruit and veg galore, right? Grin
Thanks for curbing some anxiety re EC, that nurse needs telling.

It's a bitter sweet event for you Care, much love x

Afm, I've got a blooming good DH. He injected me without me realising!! So impressed. Felt ok, but then a little headachy. Now I'm lying in bed after feeling DH helped to describe (as I seem to have lost the ability to form words today) as 'whoozy' Sad
Has anyone else experienced this with stimming?

Hello to everyone else tonight x

JosieSmith1 · 30/03/2012 08:02

Angel I found I didn't get too many side effects with either drugs, but I did get more, different ones after stimming. I was mainly just tired during DR but during stimming I was clumsy, really tired, at first I didn't sleep very well and when I did I had weird dreams, and feeling a bit run down, so yes woozy would come in there somewhere

Good news Care Smile

Duggs best of luck for today

Karbea I've heard the 2ww (that I'm starting today) is the hardest bit! Fingers crossed the next few days fly by. Keep yourself busy, but obviously not too busy. That wasn't a very god bit of advice really was it HmmGrin

I'm at work this morning, then off at 12, clinic at 2pm!! I'm gonna make a baby!! And I'm ignoring the fact that it might not work, I'll deal with that if it happens. Otherwise, I'm convinced I'm going to have two babies on board. I've already started talking to my eggs (maybe a bit too attached) but you never know, they've fought to get here, maybe they'll fight the rest of the way too Grin

Lizzie they haven't told me to drink anything Confused I've had an HSG and I'm told it's like that but not as uncomfortable so I'm not too worried, ok maybe a little, but not much (don't ask me at 1.30pm!)Grin

zeebee1 · 30/03/2012 09:32

Good luck today josie thinking of you and wishing it all goes smoothly Grin

Just ousting myself as an occasional lurking to reassure josie. I had my first IUI this week and it was NOTHING like the HSG. It was a bit fiddly and a bit odd, but I took no painkillers and really did not need them. No pain (a bit of bleeding afterwards, cos she had some trouble getting the thing in there!) Relax, you will be fine.

And a massive good luck to all of you. What you are going through is the (obvious) next step for us, so I lurk in the background sometimes to get my head around it... Sticking with low-tech option for now though.

AngelFairy · 30/03/2012 13:45

Hey Lemon you're welcome to lurk any time... Fingers crossed this isn't your next step as your IUI has every chance of working for you. Good luck on 2ww x

Josie thinking of you... Here's to twins!
Thanks for your feedback on the stims experience. I am convinced my extreme nausea and dizziness was down to not eating properly yesterday Blush I am going to eat before I (who am I kidding, DH) injects tonight and see if that helps.

Duggs I am assuming you've had your EC, I hope it went well and you're feeling ok x

How's everyone doing today?

Jumping, Karbea, (and Raspberry) - It appears that you have two more people joining you guys (Josie & Lemon).
How is the 2ww going? Karbea, did you decide to test everyday in the end? Jumping, not long until Tuesday, I have everything crossed for you!

Millymoo how did your scan go? I hope you're going to be joining me on the stims soon!

Where are you hiding Knackered & Lumili?

(Can you tell I am avoiding a very laborious task?)

Raspberryjam · 30/03/2012 14:00

Very best of luck Josie !!!
Hope all well today duggs with the EC and for your test results. I am sure there will be some good ones in there.

Hi Lemon - keeping our fingers and toes crossed for you too

Hope the injection is better later Angel - maybe your headache and wooziness was as you say from not eating an drinking - and ? a tension headache with it all.

Have been a bit healthier today -I had a boiled egg and some pitta with humous and guacamole and cherry tomatoes for lunch.Pineapple for me later. Away with you Burger King........

duggs1976 · 30/03/2012 15:38

Hey guys. Perfect IUI number josie hope u r ok.

I'm ok. Post egg collection. I must say raspberrys likeness to a huge G&T was spot on. Apparently the sedation drug was what Michael Jackson was addicted to. . Don't blame him. Was lovely taking the edge off. They got 19 eggs which I know is a lot. Don't know quality yet and know there has to be a lot of duds in there or I'd have a football team living in the nursery by now. They said they'd call me in the morning to let me know how they've got on. Quality not quantity is they key but I've got volume start at least. Waves to everyone. Relaxing in the sun now Smile
