Hi all, we're about to start FET following an unsuccessful round of ICSI last year (well, we got the bfp, but then I miscarried shortly after Sad). But... time to get back on the bike and go again...

Anyone else going through this?

Knackered You always have a lot of information and good guidance, you know so much :) Hope you are well.

Raspberryjam · 25/03/2012 21:28

thanks Josie and lumili .

I'm sorry it's being a struggle at the moment for you Josie. I agree with lumili and Karbea that as it is your first attempt you shouldn't give up hope at this stage - as there may be some other way that works - for example a short protocol which can be used in those who haven't reponded or are predicted not to respond well. - and even then there are different drug dosages on the short protocol.

I think for a lot of people the first failed cycle can give a lot of useful information to the team looking after you and it can then be tweaked - as lumili said, to work out which is best for you. Maybe your own clinic would offer a different protocol which is likely to be the case- but if you don't feel happy then worth a chat with your GP to see which others you can be referred to and also the HFEA website.

KnackeredCow · 25/03/2012 21:34

lumili doing so, so? How are you today?

I'll admit I used to work in the healthcare industry (commercial supplier) and now for a healthcare charity so only knowledgeable because have dealt with these sorts of things due to work.

care couldn't agree more with your last post.

lumili · 25/03/2012 21:39

knackered so, so doesn't sound great :( I am not to good either, just feel so down as I don't know what our next step is going to be!! I thought you had been reading lots and lots about IVF :) as you really know your stuff x

KnackeredCow · 25/03/2012 21:55

Oh lumili it's so tough isn't it?

Will add have never worked in the IVF area - very different areas of healthcare, but the commissioning structure is fundamentally the same if an NHS patient. Sadly, the commissioning structure and the autonomy given to PCTs, although should work in practice, means that the NHS doesn't really offer a service that is a fair across the whole of England. It depends on where you liveSad. And as far as I can see, it'll be pretty much the same under GP commissioning.

lumili · 25/03/2012 22:11

Knackered It certainly is tough!

CareBear1 · 25/03/2012 22:21

Aw, here's a little sunday night song for all you lovely ladies having a tough time - my current obsessional song, have had it on repeat all day - I think its the '80' synth

lumili · 25/03/2012 22:34

Hi care what a lovely song, it certainly beats listening to Adele, whick keeps making me burst into tears :( How are you feeling about tomorrow?

CareBear1 · 25/03/2012 22:56

Ooh yes stay away from Adele. Try Kings of Leon instead!

I feel very surreal and like tomorrow is a routine test. I actually think I"d find it impossible to believe the outcome either way if that makes sense? Today I feel comfy here in limbo land and scared of leaving!

lumili · 25/03/2012 22:59

Care I will try Kings of leon :) Of course that makes sense, when will you get the results? Good luck, I will be thinking of you :)

CareBear1 · 25/03/2012 23:09

Thanks Lumili, tomorrow pm.

I could make it into work for the pm, or skive off and wait by the phone. Can't decide, what do u think?

lumili · 25/03/2012 23:19

Care I would skive off and wait by the phone, there is no way you could concentrate on anything apart from waiting for that phone call... I probably shouldn't be encouraging you to skive :)

jumpingjackhash · 26/03/2012 10:19

Morning all.

Good luck with your scan today Josie, you've had some good advice here, which I can't really add to, other than to say try not to give up hope. Thinking of you.

Care so did you skive and wait by the phone? Grin

Still feeling queasy - the only way I can make it ease is by nibbling at some food, I'll get a real hankering for something then only feel like a couple of bites.

Testing next Tuesday, which is only a week and a day away, so far managing not to dwell on it (but I keep talking to my tummy like a loon). Blush

CareBear1 · 26/03/2012 10:41

Hi there, Jumping that must be quite annoying re the nausea. Fingers crossed its a good sign!

Josie I've been thinking about your situation. For what its worth I think I would ask the clinic if the cycle was cancelled now whether it counts towards your NHS allocated no. of cycles anyway ( we were told this once). If it does then I would say to the clinic that I wanted to go ahead with EC anyway and see what they say. My clinic whilst good has its eyes firmly fixed on what it can get paid for. People frequently seem to end up with more than expected at EC. Best of luck and thinking of you.

Afm I poas this morning and it was negative, so that settled the going to work question! Just on way home from clinic after blood test, get result this pm. Was feeling really pants, but have just seen Eddie Redmayne on my train which has cheered me up no end! X

zeebee1 · 26/03/2012 11:40

Aw care I am so so sorry about your news Sad can u take some time off this week for yourself? Thinking of you...
Zb x

jumpingjackhash · 26/03/2012 12:13

Sorry about your pee test Care Sad Let us know how the bloods go.

Josie Care's made a good point about whether it counts as a 'go' re. funding (it probably will), so I'm sure you're within your rights to push for it to be completed (assuming there's no danger to you you) - it's quality not quantity after all.

duggs1976 · 26/03/2012 15:09

Karbea · 26/03/2012 15:21

Aww carebear when are you expecting the clinic to call?

CareBear1 · 26/03/2012 15:43

Not sure what time they are calling - on friday it was 5.30 but i had an earlier test today so thought the result might be back earlier.

I'm now cycle day 34. 13 days past transfer of two blastos.

CareBear1 · 26/03/2012 16:21

Got the call. Its negative, levels now dropped to 4.

Just feel a bit numb at the minute.
