IVF/ICSI/FET - any more for any more?

Hi all, we're about to start FET following an unsuccessful round of ICSI last year (well, we got the bfp, but then I miscarried shortly after Sad). But... time to get back on the bike and go again...

Anyone else going through this?

Sneaking in to check on care - sounds like hand-holding and alcohol-free Wine are needed!

Sending you a massive ((hug)) that the beta keeps rising for Monday. My understanding is that after a FET any hcg level, even if a bit low, would indicate that your snowbear has had a good try at inplanting/has implanted so it's worth being cautiously optimistic.

All pregnancies are different so I think you should stay away from Dr Google and put Zita on a loop over the weekend xxx.

Raspberryjam · 23/03/2012 18:07

Hi Carebear - well done and huge congratulations! - don't worry too much yet.
From what I gather the levels of HCG can vary hugely and the absolute level is less useful than how much it increases in the next few days - so I agree with Angel -a positive is a positive . Enjoy Zita and feet up.
Really delighted for you. xxx

Ok I have calmed down a bit now.

Jumping and Karbea massive congratulations on the successful transfers! Sending snuggly vibes to your embies, have everything crossed for you both. Yes I ate lots of pineapple, had acu, did daily meditation, no alcohol or caffeine....er and lots of telly and books! Have either of you got time off?

Well I think its been a seriously successful day then!

Thanks so much for all your messages. I think I got a TWP. (teeny weeny positive) which is a fantastic step in the right direction. Will have to wait and see on Monday. Grin

Raspberryjam · 23/03/2012 21:37

Just an update from clinic - didn't post earlier as DH cooked fantastic dinner - and I was so quick to criticise..........Blush

Of the 12 eggs, 11 were mature and had ICSI - one deteriorated right after that. Of the 10, 9 have had polar bodies sent for testing - will see tomorrow if any fertilise and on sunday if any suitable to go back.

Glad you are more upbeat now Carebear - will join you for a lovely rubbish Fri night telly session Smile

AngelFairy · 23/03/2012 21:57

Blimey, that's good numbers Raspberry... Grow little ones, grow!
Don't forget your Zita CD too Wink

bugsylugs · 23/03/2012 22:49

Care great cautious horray. Dr google is talking about natural cycle when late ad and for urine. As they said positive. As others said doubling rate is the important thing now lo just getting goinyg go go go. Here is another hand for holding and remember for today you are pregnant
Jumping and karbea go embies go fab news they are on board. Raspberry well done good number keep on going

jumpingjackhash · 24/03/2012 08:18

Brilliant numbers there Raspberry! rooting for them!

Had a hood night's sleep, feeling pretty relaxed, although getting the odd twinge in my tummy (hoping it's frosty settling in). Have a day of reading, eating berries (will go put for a pineapple later too!), watching tv and listening to Zita ahead of me. I feel really lazy and it feels quite nice!

Sadly have no time off work (we're manic) but am getting far better at managing stress. My industry, while pressured and dealing with often very pissy and fuckwitty demanding clients isn't exactly about life or death situations, so I've learnt what's worth worrying about and what's ok for me to kick onto my teams to stress over. It's taken me years to get to this point but the stress there won't get to me. If anything, it might help keep my mind off the worry of the FET progress!

millymoo1234 · 24/03/2012 09:43

Morning all!

Wow, what an EXCITING day yesterday was.

Jumping have a lovely, stress free weekend, nourishing your body and making a nice home for your new passengers!

Care sounds like you have some exciting news. A TWP - how brilliant! Best of luck for the blood test on Monday. [tiny excited squeak]

Karbea Congratulations on your ET! It's so brilliant, hope you have a good, chilled weekend too and the 2ww goes quickly for you.

Angel Hiya! I have now got my appointment for my baseline scan and it's on Thursday 29th... I also have had spotting since about day 8, and it feels like I'm going to get a full blown AF, but not arrived yet... however, I guess our bodies are getting used to the different hormones and stuff, so its OK if things arent the same as normal... I definitely feel grumpy enough for AF... DH is annoying me for no reason, all he has done this morning is be nice to me and make me tea and crumpets, and I want to kill him! Hope your scan goes well on the 27th!

Josie I hope your next scan goes ok and they help you with a plan of action to move forward. It does sound like there are other things to try?

Raspberry brilliant news! That certainly sounds like you have a good number of eggs to work with - how fantastic. Hope all goes well over the next couple of days. Am thinking 'dividey' thoughts for you!

Happy, Sunny weekends to everyone!

Raspberryjam · 24/03/2012 09:52

Morning ladies,
been sooooooooo lazy but less bloated and tender now.

Duggs - I was really interested to see you are going down the CGH route too -from what you wrote before I can see it will be useful for you. We are at GCRM. We are doing it due to my age and zero fertilisation last time and was also on short protocol. Waiting for a phone call today............nervous...... Hope you are finding intralipids etc ok.

Hope you both have a lazy weekend Jumping and Karbea.
Sending you calm vibes Carebear

Hope all goes well with your scan today Josie..............here's hoping xxx

Karbea · 24/03/2012 09:57

Duggs I'm pretty sure my clexane started day8 after my ivig.

I'm still in bed DH won't let me get up. I'm more urghh about the stupid cold I have, feel rubbish! :(

I really wish I could see inside me and see how they are doing, it was lovely to have all the monitoring/calls from the embryologist etc I hope they are dividing ok, should be morulas today.

Raspberryjam · 24/03/2012 10:08

oh Millymoo - that is the worst feeling - like really exagerrated PMT. I don't think your DH will be able to anything right this weekend - maybe get out of house for while as then you won't be tempted or have less opportunity to throw things at him???????
Good you and Angel have scans next week.

Raspberryjam · 24/03/2012 10:11
lumili · 24/03/2012 10:58

What a great day it was yesterday :)

Care Congratulations, that is brilliant news. I am so so pleased for you. Sending you lot of positive thoughts. Good luck for your test on Monday.

Karbea Glad to see that you have 2 embies on board, hope they snuggle in nicely and the 2 week wait goes quickly for you. I hope your cold disappears soon.

Jumping I am so happy that your frosty defrosted ok and the transfer went well. Hope it is snuggling in well. I also hope the 2 week wait goes quickly for you.

Raspberry Congratulations on your successful egg collection, fingers and toes crossed for the phone call today, hope it is great news.

Josie Good luck at the clinic today, I hope it goes well and they have good news for you. My fingers and toes are crossed for you.

Stangirl great to hear your story, it just goes to show that there is hope :)

to Knackered

Hi to everyone else that I haven't mentioned, hope you all enjoy the sun this weekend.

Raspberryjam · 24/03/2012 11:41

Quick update -Phone call at last - 7 have fertilised! - v relieved Smile. Assuming and hoping that at least one has normal chromosomes - will know tomorrow eve, then I've to go for transfer midday Mon - gulp!

Raspberryjam · 24/03/2012 13:23

Hi Ladies - I am apologising for hogging this thread. Sorry.Blush
Just had another phone call from embryologist and there was some problem with the lab being able to test the polar bodies today.

So that means a change of plan and we have to wait to see if any embryos make it to blastocyst stage on Wednesday and will get PGS result on Tuesday - I am so nervous and trying not to panic as hadn't initially planned to try to go to blastocyst stage. Really worried there will be no embryos to put back now, but embryologist who was lovely has reassured me that those that don't make it is much more likely due to weaker ones being selected out rather than the fact they are remaining outside the body longer.
Wondered if those of you who have done blastocyst transfers can help. Having wooooooooobbbbbbbble........

Was wondering how you got on today Josie - you must be v nervous too and thinking of you.

CareBear1 · 24/03/2012 13:42

Hey Raspberry, well first things first, get Zita on! Try not to panic, that was a fantastic fertilisation rate, 7 out of 9 which I think you can take a lot of reassurance from regarding yours and DH's strong DNA. I think the lab conditions are so advanced these days that I'm sure they'll be fine. I can only tell you about my experience, which was from my last fresh round and we had 9 eggs, of which 6 fertilised, and all 6 made it to blasto. I don't understand what polar bodies are though, what's that all about, is that the chromosome testing? Or the immune testing? Good luck!! Try to keep calm, you still need to be preparing your environment for when they come back to you!

Raspberryjam · 24/03/2012 13:53

Thanks Carebear - yes will dig out the Zita CD - starting to go a bit loopy here. The polar body is a by product in the outer layer of the single cell egg after ICSI done - and this tests the 23 chromosomes there - so you can find out which of the embryos had abnormal eggs to start with - ones that test abnormal are not put back then.
You had a great blasto rate - I'm just really worried now that if some do make it to blast, they will test abnormal for chromosomes - we would need both to be good for a blast to be put back.

Hope you are bearing up and thanks

duggs1976 · 24/03/2012 14:07

raspberry. Firstly fantastic fertilisation rates. As for day 5 blastocyst I have read that I'd actually preferable to say 3 transfer particularly when u have such a selection of embryos to chose from u can afford for a few to fall. Day 5 blasto has a stronger chance of implantation as you have 2 days monitored development so it is probably a good thing. Grin v. V interested to hear your progress x

duggs1976 · 24/03/2012 14:08

Apologies for my iPhone tastic typing hopefully you translated my last post. Preferable for day 5 blasto transfer !

CareBear1 · 24/03/2012 14:15

Raspberry you've got 7 fertilised like ducklings there, I think the odds are looking good and that's a great result for ICSI right? Try to just stay calm (hmm, pot, kettle etc !!)

Josie what's happening with you today have you had your next scan yet? Really hoping for better news for you, keep us posted if you want any hand holding.

Lumili thanks for your message. How's things with you, have you and DW reached a decision about what to do next or are you letting things settle a bit? Its so hard to pick yourself up after a round that doesn't work doesn't it. Took me 8 months to pluck up the courage to try again after the last one failed.

Karbea I'm hoping your cold means your immune system is ever so slightly depressed making it easier for your lo's to implant! Hope you have a nice relaxed weekend and make DH run around after you.

Jumping same goes to you regarding relaxing and getting DH to do everything. Hopefully you picked up some nice treats from Borough Market yesterday you can enjoy this w/e. How exciting, bet your lo is burrowing away right now.

Milly I totally hear you about DH not being able to do anything right. Mine got a right earful earlier for going over a speed bump too quickly Hmm. Are you meant to get AF as part of your protocol? I'm a bit confused about any protocol which is different from what I did! Hope you're doing ok.

Duggs thanks (whispers)! wow that sounded like you have a lot of follicles which is great news. I didn't get too many side effects from the drugs this time or last, no where near as bad as clomid. Hope you feel ok on them but it sounds like you've already experienced quite a cocktail!

ooh getting a bit tired now need to go for a lie-down, sorry for anyone i missed. x
