IVF/ICSI/FET - any more for any more?

jumpingjackhash · 05/01/2012 10:05

Hi all, we're about to start FET following an unsuccessful round of ICSI last year (well, we got the bfp, but then I miscarried shortly after Sad). But... time to get back on the bike and go again...

Anyone else going through this?

duggs I only started to dip into this thread today and don't know the detail of your backstory but I had to take Clexane both before and during my pregnancies due to Leiden Factor V.

Whilst my IVF was in Spain (I live in London) I had a GP referral to an NHS haematology Dept (Kings College Hospital) and they gave me a free Clexane prescription from the moment I started taking my hormones.

I also managed to get the NHS to scan my uterus on the correct day before flying to spain for treatment - and do the "checking" scan after my BFPs.

I was then under dual NHS haematology/obs consultant care at Kings until I gave birth.

Gosh, massive day on this thread!

Just echoing what lizzie has said.

Best of luck to Jumping and Karbea - hope your embryos are safely back on board now.

Raspberry Hope your EC has gone smoothly and you got plenty of eggs.

Care Really hope you get your BFP x

JosieSmith1 · 23/03/2012 13:56

Hi all, just a really quick post from me. I was quite relieved yesterday, they could have said they were giving up, and I spoke to someone in the North East who runs a small support group and we were on the phone for an hour so that was fab. Really really really nervous for tomorrow, it could be just as bad news as Wed but fingers crossed it?s not. Will update you tomorrow

Raspberryjam · 23/03/2012 14:16

Thanks Care, Lizzie, and Knackered.

thinking of you too today Jumping and Karbea. Hope all went as planned.
Fingers crossed for you Care.xxx

Back at home resting now after EC. Went better than expected - got 12 eggs!! As embryologist said there are a lot of hurdles for us over the weekend.
First they see which eggs are suitable for ICSI, then after ICSI they remove the polar bodies from as many as possible and still a risk of damage, although low. Find out which if any fertilised with ICSI tomorrow and which of those are chromosomally normal - still a risk there could be no embryos, which seems crazy after 12 eggs - but embryologist did want to prepare us for that, but if we are lucky then transfer would be Monday - eek.

In meantime hubby and I BOTH had to sign a form after EC to say I wouldn't drive, drink , use machinery of wait for it cook today!! so will it be fish 'n' chips or curry - am hoping for a nice home cooked dinner.

Hope you all enjoy some of this great weather over the weekend.

Raspberryjam · 23/03/2012 14:17

Glad the phone call helped you Josie - keep strong xxx

AngelFairy · 23/03/2012 14:34

Please don't hurt me... there's a long post coming... Blush

AngelFairy · 23/03/2012 14:36

Hello ladies,
Apologies for the gap in my posts, but I have finally finished a huge milestone at work and can now rest easy. Thank goodness!
I hope you are all well. Spring is finally here and in full swing with lots of sunshine this week. It?s always nice to open the curtains to sunshine in the morning.

There is lots to catch up on? But most importantly, it?s such a huge for people today.
How is it all going? Raspberry, Karbea, Carebear, Jumping I have everything crossed for you Grin

Welcome Duggs, sorry to hear of your past experiences with ART, but you?re knowledge on the chromosomal tests is very welcome. Thank you, and all the bets on this journey x

Carebear I have everything crossed for your test today! Good blooming luck!
The drugs arriving was very exciting and the build up to starting them was crazy, but then, as we didn?t get that last minute miracle, after the injection it was very much like ?oh, that?s it. Now lets wait 11 days?, a kind of anti climax ? ha. Good tip re pessary and meditation CD though, think I?ll be following that advice!

Jumping Great news re your lining, I?ve got my fingers crossed for your transfer today! I hope it all goes amazingly well x

Zeebee Any news wrt your FET? Is it still planned for w/c 2nd April?

Knackered I hope you?re feeling better hun. I too have been a little reluctant to get up and dressed, mostly because I?m bloated and my jeans feel tight. But pottering about my garden this week has been nice, and it also looks better to not have mounds of leaves still lurking about in late March ;)
I?m glad you and your DH have reached a decision that suits, and 3 cycles seems to be what the odds stack up to. Much love x

Milly What day are you on now?

I hope you?re well Lumili x

Josie Good luck for tomorrow! x

So sorry for the long post, but like knackered I promise to write smaller and more frequently from now on Blush

AFM: I am on CD8 and down regulating using one-off Prostap injection. I have my baseline scan scheduled for Tue (27th) and can only report mild side effects.
I have, however, been spotting for a while now. Has anyone else experienced spotting throughout down regulating, when they started DR on CD1? I am assuming it?s a good thing that my lining is still shedding, but how long will it go on for?

CareBear1 · 23/03/2012 14:50

Raspberry that's great news 12 is loads! How exciting your DNA is probably mixing right now!

Btw Knackered just wanted to say sorry you've been feeling so low. Just take it easy on yourself this weekend. If I get bad news I'm not leaving the house either!

Hi Angel good to hear your update.

Afm went for blood test at clinic, just waiting for the phonecall. Really couldn't say at the moment, could go either way. Was too chicken to poas this morning. Hate those things, they're always negative!

Just enjoying the last few hours of 'it might be' !

Karbea · 23/03/2012 15:23

Aww care bear good luck! I test on the 4th and already dreading the next few days!

So I'm pupo! Two onboard, a cell 7 grade 4 (the best) and a 6 grade 2 (not so good)... And now in bed!

Has anyone been eating pineapple? Any other tips? I'm back on loads of drugs including the dreaded progesterone injections :(

Raspberry well done! Next few days will seem a bit odd, as you sort of have your life back, but are worrying like mad about a few little embies a few miles away!

Jumping my transfer twinny! What news???

Raspberryjam · 23/03/2012 15:48

Thanks Karbea. Great, great, great news for you ! - not sure about any other tips apart from perhaps acupuncture? but it's not for everyone I guess - or anything that can relax you. You are right - it does feel like for a short time you have your life back.

thanks v much Angel, Care, Lizzie - Waiting for a phonecall about how many eggs had ICSI now.

Can't really help with the spotting question Angel - is it a short or long protocol ?

Nervous for you too Carebear - xxx

jumpingjackhash · 23/03/2012 16:10

On my phone so not too easy to keep flitting back to all of the updates so sorry if I miss anyone out!

How did you get on Karbea? Transfer all ok?

After a nervy morning hoping the phone wouldn't ring with bad news about frosty (it did ring, but it was just MIL calling DH said I went pale!), we had ET at midday! Grin. Thank God for Zita and her relaxation CD, as I really found it helpful - today's transfer was so much more comfortable than the last one (body less bashed about too as no collection or sore ovaries) and everyone in the room was v friendly and chatty. Don't want to get too carried away, but I feel pretty good! So now lolling on the sofa watching box sets with the cat!

Care I hope you have some great news after your test!

Raspberry sending Barry White vibes for your eggs!

Waves to everyone else!

jumpingjackhash · 23/03/2012 16:15

Karbea just clocked your transfer was a double (I swear this Zita CD is making me foxy!) Blush. Great news, take it easy.

I've not been on pineapple but stopped by Borough Market on my way home snd got a load of blueberries and raspberries. Ocado delivery later includes loads of kale, broccoli, milk, eggs... Everything I've read about possibly helping!

I'm testing on 3 April, does that seem a bit early? Not a full 2ww (same as you Care, right?).

OP posts:
jumpingjackhash · 23/03/2012 16:17

Shit, DOZY not 'foxy', although maybe that was DH's plan when he got me the CD?! Wink

Blimmin iPhone auto correct! Blush

Raspberryjam · 23/03/2012 16:29

Thanks Jumping and great news for you! - good that your little snow emby is safely snuggled up with all of you on the sofa. xxx

CareBear1 · 23/03/2012 17:25

just got the call ........ its positive, but......only 15.6. They want me to go back in on monday am for another test. She said ideally they'd see about 25 at this point? These numbers mean nothing to me. Any knowledge any of you, any advice????

ooooohhhhhhhh it might be i am actually able to have a child at least at some point,

also just getting what feels like AF pains. my hands are shaking. need some serious hand holding!!

CareBear1 · 23/03/2012 17:34

Dr Google is telling me that under 25 = 'not pregnant'???

jumpingjackhash · 23/03/2012 17:40

Oooooh Care! I have no idea what the numbers mean, but it sounds promising?! Maybe Knackered can shed some light (she knows anout these things Wink).

Keep away from Google, it doesn't always help.

AngelFairy · 23/03/2012 17:45
