We had some fantabulous holidays before smallboo came along so I shall try not to complain. But oh Euro I did come over all wistful at the thought of the Maldives. If we'd got married before having a child like sensible people do then we may have gone there on our honeymoon instead of Centreparcs :o

Am hoping to get abroad at some point this year. My friend's friend lives in Greece and we went there this time 2 years ago. Saw her at Christmas and she said if we booked flights she would sort us out a free villa (like she did last time). So that is quite exciting if it all works out.

MadameBoolala · 03/01/2012 23:06

I went back to work today Sunny. Got tomorrow off and then it's full time. J'ai un peu de peur.

It's only for a month - I go back to part time in Feb. But I so need the cash so I would have been silly not to take the opportunity. Am expecting to get my 'at risk' letter again this week too. The joys of life in the public sector.

I haff broked fred.

Morning Hags Grin

We haven't had a proper holiday since 2009 when we went to Venice for a week. We did get to Prague for a weekend in 2010 but that was work related for me.
We've been saving up our Tesco vouchers since 2008 and converting them to Air Miles and we've almost got enough for 2 return flights to New York. They'll probably change the amount we need just as we have saved enough Hmm

KatAndKit · 04/01/2012 07:58

We had a nice holiday this year. Usually we just go on short breaks, which I also like, but this year I wanted some sun sea and sand so we went to Turkey, we got a really good deal on lowcostholidays on the tinterweb. Was definitely worth it but has eaten up holidaying budget for a while. I want to go back to Italy, where I have not been since I went in 1999. That was a mega budget shoestring trip and I'm sure it would be much nicer if I went back, did not have to sleep in hostels and convents, and did not have to get there on a bus.

Lovely BESH, I just wanted to wish you all a belated Happy New Year & sincerely hope all your wishes & dreams come true in 2012.

eurochick · 04/01/2012 10:36

Boo the Maldives is just like (a somewhat fake) paradise. We went about 5 years ago on a last minute deal, which was really quite reasonable. And then when we got there, spent a small fortune on food and drink as it wasn't included and you have no choice but to eat at the resort's restaurants or go for a very long swim to find something else! We'd like to do it again, but with food included this time so we know what we are letting ourselves in for!

AriesWithBellsOn · 04/01/2012 11:11

Good God, it's Lozza!!!! Hello chick. How are you?

AriesWithBellsOn · 04/01/2012 11:16

Love the way this has descended into holiday poverty competitiveness started by me GrinGrinGrin

Wouldn't it be refreshing to say without any guilty whatsoever "Yes well, the recession hasn't touched me, I'm off to the Seychelles for a couple of weeks and then we're going to Klosters for some spring skiing. Five star obv. Fuck the plebs" But we're all too nice

Yes, the ESH were FABULOUS on that OBEM thread. We mainly yelled "FUCK OFF BEYATCH."

AriesWithBellsOn · 04/01/2012 11:22

Oh and look. Implanon woman is pregnant.

KatAndKit · 04/01/2012 11:27

I suspect that there was some sort of waiting period between the implant being inserted and it being fully effective, which implanon woman chose to ignore. As she herself said, she wanted a baby. Sounds more like accidentally on purpose to me....

AriesWithBellsOn · 04/01/2012 11:28

Did I sound rather acidic in my congratulations? Didn't mean to

KatAndKit · 04/01/2012 11:36

I thought your comment was good. And I thought she sounded quite annoying actually.

blonderthanred · 04/01/2012 11:36

Rie In November, TBI & I went on our first holiday abroad together (Bruges) since our honeymoon ten years ago but had to come home after one night because the dog was sick. Do I win?

AriesWithBellsOn · 04/01/2012 11:39

I think so. Here, have this shiny badge

AriesWithBellsOn · 04/01/2012 11:43

PS fucking pets. AIBU to expect a bit more consideration than a fucking CAT? She has taken to sleeping on MrA's side of the bed next to him rather than at the foot of the bed. For warmth I should think. Anyway, so anxious is he not to disturb her slumber, he has taken to sleeping diagonally across the bed, thus prodding me all night with his horrible toe nails and sharp elbows. I can only sleep in one position involving specifically arranged pillows because I have a bad fucking back. But the cat is higher up the pecking order than me! I lay there rigid with rage after another sleepy argument at about 5.30am, looked up and she was perched on his hip staring at me unblinkingly. Is my cat actually a witch?

blonderthanred · 04/01/2012 11:44

Hurray hurray! I love badges.

My boss is going to Jamaica in Feb, business class, as a last 'dream holiday' before she has her twins.

Biscuit emoticon thing.

AriesWithBellsOn · 04/01/2012 11:47

Yeah. BISCUIT. Bitch.

blonderthanred · 04/01/2012 11:51

To be fair they are hard-won twins and I do not begrudge her them for an instant. Definitely no implant-accident. But still I am allowed to be a bit hmm.

blonderthanred · 04/01/2012 11:52

ps Yes, your cat is a witch.

AriesWithBellsOn · 04/01/2012 11:55

Maybe she has sensed I am pregnant? In manner of predators everywhere. I have read of cats going loopy when their owners are diffed.

Nope. But today is day 40 and still no blood. But like I keep saying, In the context of my droidal world it isn't really all that weird.

Northey · 04/01/2012 13:03

I am just tantalising myself with the possibility.

Am receiving anguished texts about how all our stuff wOnt fit in the new place. "Your problem today, pal," is what I am thinking cruelly to myself.
