We are having a ski. Do you ski?

CaveMum · 03/01/2012 19:59

I'm on FB, but don't want to out myself as a MNer - people will put 2 and 2 together and assume I'm diffed Sad

CaveMum · 03/01/2012 20:01

Meant to add, I'd love to join the Parlour, but I really don't have the time to join a book club at the moment. I'm so busy with my degree and everything else that signing up for yet another past-time will just condemn me to a lifetime of insanity!

Cavelina I know what you mean - I might be crazy to 'join' a Book Klub but this is ESH we're talkin' about. If I don't finish the book I bet I still get some gin (and maybe even a few feel-ups!) What degree are you doing? I'm starting a PhD in 2 weeks. How're you juggling everything?

AriesWithBellsOn · 03/01/2012 20:06

Oh I'm not going to read the book, Cavey, I just waltzed on in. I just want somewhere to hang out with the former BESH and I clearly can't do it in the Deli.

I'm not sure my knees are going to be able to take it if I'm honest. Every year it gets harder. Thou I guess I could slow down a bit

LaLauraDePalmer · 03/01/2012 20:07

Skiing is for loons. I miss it. I luff my skis. Alas, they are currently an ocean away collecting dust in my mum's attic.

Northey · 03/01/2012 20:12

My skiing career consisted almost entirely of sitting in the snow and giggling. I was not destined for elegant swooshy greatness.

What's your phd in, lau?

CaveMum · 03/01/2012 20:13

Fair point bugs, I'll PM you shortly Grin

[yay, a new friend!]

LaLauraDePalmer · 03/01/2012 20:20

I'm skeptical of mixing MN & FB - only because I'm utter crap at keeping up with FB and as a New Year's treat I'm going to axe a large number of my 500+ so-called 'friends'. I can't imagine that they really care what I'm up to and to be honest I'm not that interested in them, either. (I'm just too polite to say no to friend requests!)

Of course, I will definitely be keeping the one and only MN/FB friend that I have. Wink

The PhD is related to my professional creative stuff.

LaLauraDePalmer · 03/01/2012 20:22

Jeeze. Sometimes I wish this fred wasn't open to the public - I hate having to hide certain details that I'm happy to share with ESH (it's just the other several million people who don't need to know!)

Gotta go put TinyTOM to bed - he's currently running around nekkid and taunting the dog with a stuffed E Coli toy.

LaLauraDePalmer · 03/01/2012 20:23

That was a weird sentence to type.

Northey · 03/01/2012 20:25

Don't worry, laura. Completely understand if it is something that would out you.

FriendofDorothy · 03/01/2012 21:03

Evening BESHes. The Mister and I are having a lovely couple of days in a posh hotel in Leeds. We have drunk wine, had lots of sechs and shopped. A perfect couple of days away.

eurochick · 03/01/2012 21:15

I have purchased the BESH klub book. I haven't opened it yet, but that's progress, right?

I'm also planning a booze free January, with a night or two off in the middle for my burfday, cos that will be miserable enough sober.

Your evening sounds, er, fun, Laura....

We are in the process of holiday planning too. We want to make the most of what we hope will be out last child-free year. So we are thinking somewhere luxurious and long haul in the Spring (possibly Maldives - we went once before and loved it), somewhere in Spain or Italy for a long weekend to a week over the summer and then one more holiday in the Autumn. Hopefully we will also get invited for a weekend or two to the outlaws' place in France. We've never been away this much in a year and in fact rarely manage to use all our holidays because we get to November and realise we have 4 weeks left and too much work to take it. I'd like to fit in skiing too but I think finances might not stretch to that as well and we couldn't substitute it for the long haul Spring break as we are both desperate for some sun!

LaLauraDePalmer · 03/01/2012 21:28

this is the E Coli toy

yes, we've got fun. but not nearly as much fun as all of you going on/planning super holidays Envy no baybee and no holiday. lame.

'night ESHes.

LaLauraDePalmer · 03/01/2012 21:30

(sorry for my absent upper-case letters and missed punctuation)

AriesWithBellsOn · 03/01/2012 21:42

Do not be envious of me as though I am some kind of winter holiday, globe trotting hooray henry. I haven't had a summer holiday since 2003, so our holidays when we can afford them are in January.

MadameBoolala · 03/01/2012 22:37

I have been on that holiday fred in discussions of the day. People on here are so minted. It's all like, yeah, we're off to Florida in March and that's only £5000 and then we're popping to a cottage in Scotland for Easter and then we might nip to Spain in the autumn, followed by Christmas and New Year in Tuscany.

I may be exaggerating slightly.

I remember that OBEM fred Rie. I think I did some ESHdefence for you on it. The fred I liked best was the one when the lovely male midwife from the programme posted and we were all fawning over him because he'd been so lovely.

MadameBoolala · 03/01/2012 22:37

oh Envy. not . Tsk.

InTheSunshine · 03/01/2012 22:48

I think there were a few ESH defenders on that Fred Boola. Silly wimminz taking our Rie all wrong.

My Dsis works in the hospital on the last series & knows the midwife sister. She says she is luffly.

It's blowing a howling gale here. I am a bit scared.

MadameBoolala · 03/01/2012 22:54

Our cat has been going a bit mad , all this wind has spooked her.

I want to book a fabulous holiday. I am going to search the internets and win one.

eurochick · 03/01/2012 22:55

I know what you mean, Boo. I always thought that although we don't take many holidays that we were really quite extravagant when we did...and then I read that thread! I always smart at our holiday bills but it seems that they are probably not that bad!

I have to think that 2012 will be our last childfree year so we should go for it while we can. We were useless at getting away this year. We had 10 days in Malta and a couple of weekends at the outlaws' place in France. And then we got near to the end of the year and realised we had loads of leave left and took off 3 weeks in December without actually going anywhere. That was definitely not making the most of being chidfree.

InTheSunshine · 03/01/2012 23:00

I've just looked at that holiday thread. Some people have got ££££££ to spend. Very Envy. We thought we would go on a nice sunny holiday in April or May this year but think that we need to save for IVF bills now so probably not. On the plus side I might be getting treated then Smile

When do you start FT work Boo?

LaLauraDePalmer · 03/01/2012 23:04

Happy back to work tomorrow, Boo

Will somebody pack me in their suitcase and take me along on holiday? [poor person emoticon]
