Conception

When's the best time to get pregnant? Use our interactive ovulation calculator to work out when you're most fertile and most likely to conceive.

We are all jolly well going to get preggers this month in a nonchalant non-psycho way, and hang onto it, and there will be no brooking of any argument whatsoever!

Welcome across Rat Smackers! Glad you found the place okay. This is THE MONTH when we get those deceitful pee sticks to own up to the BLINDINGLY OBVIOUS - we are all already preggers! After all; positive people get positive pee sticks!

I hope you all like what I've done with our new home

You'll note the updated title, courtesy of farfalla. Various healthy snacks have been set out on the coffee tables, to ensure our bumps are receiving the appropriate nutritional balance

Also, my personal favourite adjustment, you'll note the strategically positioned peephole, right here, providing us with a sneaky preview of the utopian delights awaiting us in the NO BROOKING vomitorium ante-natal thread.

So let's get to it preggos! Remember: see a rat - smack it!

Farfalla you'll have to do what you can to make sure he isn't stressed eg cook tea for him (a tactic I sometimes employ to make sure DH is rested). Maybe try to SWI before bed time in case he is tired by then and not interested?

maybebabyR · 28/07/2011 12:08

Thanks Scream and Farfalla Just think this month is not our month.

I have the same trouble Farfalla I just have to make sure we go to bed early. If only we could always arrange it that we ovulated at weekends Smile

GenericDietCola · 28/07/2011 12:21

Chin up Maybe - get yourself over this bug and then you can concentrate on plenty of SWI next month. Take it easy today.

maybebabyR · 28/07/2011 12:23

Thanks Generic Smile

BabySade · 28/07/2011 12:38

Sorry Maybe still it's not over until the fat AF lady sings and even then it's not over it's just day one of the month that you WILL get pregnant Grin

Farfalla last month my DH was getting a bit fed up as he was busy at work & he has started to realise roughly when ovulation is. Anyway he wasn't as up for it as usual. When I thought ovulation was likely I made sure everything was done at home (dog walked, dinner made, packed lunches done). Then I discreetly made DH make the first move (slightly slutty clothing plus snuggling on the sofa with a romantic/sexy movie) anyway within an hour DH had jumped me, I acted slightly surprised but eager. Half an hour later DH is very pleased with himself and suggests to me that spontaneous BD is so much better.

Ha spontaneous my arse!

GenericDietCola · 28/07/2011 12:44

LOL baby the things we do! Agree it's better not to seem too obvious!

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 28/07/2011 12:50

Grin at BabySade! That's hilarious! Nicely manoeuvered!

Crikey - took DS out to a gym thing and swimming and have pages of conversation to read through now.

Right, first things first Maybe have a great big hug. See what the other FR says in the morning with FMU? In the meantime have more cheesecake and baked goodies .

Tin I like the idea of a cryptic pee stick? Does it make you answer a riddle? My first is in Pregnant but not in baby, etc? I assume you mean you aren't getting flat out negatives? This is very encouraging. I agree - get yourself a FR at lunchtime and sort it out Mrs!

Generic you are BRAVE having 4 kids in the house! Mind you it is all great practice for when the minicola triplets arrive....

Did Little do a test this morning? Have I missed it? Or is she off for her appt already?

Scream, Ninja only a few days until we can confirm your BFPs now?

My CBDs arrived today. I had bought 3 twin packs just one obviously because I am not the sort of person that needs convincing or anything. Blush Anyway, My thought had been with buying so many that I could check the numbers went up each month (I AM a moron). However, I see that actually they only decide if you are 1-2, 2-3 or 3+ weeks. On that basis I thought 'well, I have a few of them, I may as well do one now, even though not fmu' and it popped up 'preggo' (not surprising but certainly reassuring) and with 3+ weeks, which i did find odd as i only ov'd 2 and a half weeks ago.

Anyway, I guess that makes me officially a multi brand pee stick endorsed pregnant person (MBPEPP), and of course I am quite chipper about this fact :)

As the tests had arrived while we were out the postie had left the parcel from Amazon next door and for some reason I felt really embarrassed when the 14 year old lad bought it round for me. It's not like he could have known what was in it and from amazon you'd probably think it was a book, but just something a bit odd about having pg tests delivered by a teenage boy.... Although actually if you flexed the box a bit you could see the corner of the packet but if he can recognise a pg test from that bit of the box then he probably has more issues than that at his age..... Anyway, I am rambling.

I am really hoping that tomorrow tells us a different tale Maybe and if it doesn't then remember to send your bribe money to FR, PO Box 123456 and try to keep your chin up for next month.

Oh, and I also check MN on my phone or ipad before getting out of bed in the morning! Blush

Biscuitsandtea · 28/07/2011 12:58

Good effort Baby - looking after men is mostly about making them think they have all the good ideas Grin (Ha ha - just accidentally typed 'groin' instead of 'grin' - Freudian.....)

I am embarrassed to say but I think when DH once said he was tried, or could we do it tomorrow instead I said something along the lines of 'I don't care, think of it this way, if this is the one it will save us about £5k on IVF, and it's not like I can ask my body to wait until tomorrow to ovulate because it is more convenient for you'.

Amazingly, he still did went ahead - what a trooper - with a line like that for seduction who wouldn't?

In fact that might have been last month. I kind of hope that wasn't the time.......

Biscuitsandtea · 28/07/2011 13:00

'Still did went ahead' Who wrote that? Think I half changed that sentence. Obviously I mean he still went ahead Blush

GenericDietCola · 28/07/2011 13:01

Oh Biscuits you are so good at catching up with everyone! Great that you got 3+ weeks already - that of course means it's twins as your hCG must be super-high.

Eek re minicola triplets!!

GenericDietCola · 28/07/2011 13:03

Oh and I totally agree about making men think they have all the good ideas!

thelittlefriend · 28/07/2011 13:03

Hello preggos

Well I did the test and got a BFN . So, I have now decided it is highly unlikely that my fanny cam will reveal a 12 week baby nestling in there as I had hoped. So my new plan is that they will tell me I am ovulating today, making Tuesdays swi still in with a chance and I'll be able to dash home and pounce on my dp. also unlikely as it's cd24
Thanks everyone for wishing me luck this afternoon.
Catching up on this thread was an emotional rollercoaster - I got all goosebumpy thinking maybe had a bfp, she got another dodgy pee stick.
Scream I'm getting some very "expectant" vibes coming from you.....

And can someone please go and get hiding out from the vomitorium, I want to sit on that cushion she's got shoved up her top!

farfallarocks · 28/07/2011 13:03

Biscuits, that is a really good sign, lots of HCG for you then!!! Now step AWAY from the pee sticks, ok?

Good tactics BabySade, I like it! My mother has always said to me 'let them think everything is their idea'. Super sneaky!!

So perhaps just happen to be skulking about in nice underwear when he gets home from work, 'changing' into home clothes or summat?

I acutally find the having sex at the right time bit the most stressful bit of TTC, more so than 2ww because if he is not keen that night I get myself in a right state about another month being wasted. But obviously I can't show it too much because then it will all become a huge chore/issue.

The irony is that his sex drive used to be much higher than mine, I think the pill dampended mine. Since coming off the pill its much higher and his is lower.

farfallarocks · 28/07/2011 13:05

Sorry Little :(

Biscuits, I lurve that line.
Sexy.

thelittlefriend · 28/07/2011 13:06

then she got another dodgy pee stick

thelittlefriend · 28/07/2011 13:07

oh and biscuits, I agree with generic, the 3+ weeks symbol at this point means you must be having twins!!

farfallarocks · 28/07/2011 13:07

You might all be amused to know that I almost just started my team meeting with the line 'Right, ratsmackers, how are we all doing'
Gah!

GenericDietCola · 28/07/2011 13:08

Sorry Little hope fanny cam finds something easy to fix so that you can get preggo this time round.

Biscuitsandtea · 28/07/2011 13:08

I am trying to step away from the pee sticks

Biscuitsandtea · 28/07/2011 13:13

LOL Farfalla HILARIOUS

Cracker!

Little how frustrating. Hope the test shows up something easily fixed and you get it next month.

OMG to twins - can you imagine if it was. Shock Eeek....... It's funny my mum said to me this morning, 'I don't mind if it is a boy or a girl but just don't have twins as that would be too much like hard work....'

Incidentally for those paying attention several days ago, my Mum has improved in the enthusiasm stakes a little as she phoned me to ask if she had to buy decaffeinated tea for when we are away for a few days next week. And I think she realised she may not have been the most enthusiastic as she made a point of telling me she was excited but was nervous with me.

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 28/07/2011 13:17

Little that sucks :(

Whatever happens this appointment will get you one step closer to your very own BFP. Stay positive, and eat more cheesecake :)

Biscuits I also love your seduction technique! Grin I strongly suspect my technique would be closer to yours than Baby's. Luckily (for us both!) DH hasn't had to be coerced yet. He was a real trooper through this month's week long every-day-a-thon! He's also on board for my backup plan if AF decides to show up anytime soon (every other day from cd 4 - 20, with a 5 day everyday patch around ovulation). Obviously now that he's agreed to the plan it makes it completely certain we won't have to use it!

Imps7 · 28/07/2011 13:17

Maybe WTF are those pee sticks doing?? Hate having dodgy cycles - I mean what exactly is the purpose of them?? Also sorry for your BFN little but you're still only a step away from your BFP.

BabySade I have to take exactly the same approach with OH - if I demand a shag then it's a no go, but if he thinks it's his idea then it's fine. Men are such simple creatures, non?

I also know exactly how you feel Farfalla - we've been TTC (OH and me that is, not you and me...) for 7 cycles now - we've managed to shag within the fertile window twice. I've had 5 wasted cycles - it's so irritating.

Anyway, I can feel a sense of brooking entering this thread today ladies - we're on dodgy territory. Let's pull ourselves out of it with a rousing chorus of What do we want? and maybe a trough load of icecream energising smoothie. WHO'S WITH ME????????

thelittlefriend · 28/07/2011 13:18

ahh, that's nice of her biscuits. I think mums worry about us more than we do if that makes sense! So her concern is you, and maybe that's why she didn't seem as excited. Just wait til you have a scan pic to show her, she'll love that!

I'm giving up the opk sticks now (obviously don't need them, what with being pregnant & everything). You can have them for your market stall if you want.

Imps7 · 28/07/2011 13:21

Farfalla Grin Grin Grin

Hoping that none of your team are also on this thread!! That could be a little embarrassing at work!
