Conception

When's the best time to get pregnant? Use our interactive ovulation calculator to work out when you're most fertile and most likely to conceive.

We are all jolly well going to get preggers this month in a nonchalant non-psycho way, and hang onto it, and there will be no brooking of any argument whatsoever!

Welcome across Rat Smackers! Glad you found the place okay. This is THE MONTH when we get those deceitful pee sticks to own up to the BLINDINGLY OBVIOUS - we are all already preggers! After all; positive people get positive pee sticks!

I hope you all like what I've done with our new home

You'll note the updated title, courtesy of farfalla. Various healthy snacks have been set out on the coffee tables, to ensure our bumps are receiving the appropriate nutritional balance

Also, my personal favourite adjustment, you'll note the strategically positioned peephole, right here, providing us with a sneaky preview of the utopian delights awaiting us in the NO BROOKING vomitorium ante-natal thread.

So let's get to it preggos! Remember: see a rat - smack it!

I love this thread :)

Congratulations to you all on your pregnancies. I normally don't say that unless I've been told about the pregnancy, having been on the receiving end of undue congratulations in the past. But it's just so obvious you are all up the duff that there's no risk of embarrassing you.

I know just by reading what you write that your fecundity will rub off on me. Thanks ladies :o

jenfraggle · 09/08/2011 15:59

Tell him that you are not fertile at the moment and would like to just have sex with no pressure to stop it feeling like a chore? A little white lie never hurt anyone...

jaggythistle · 09/08/2011 16:05

I think maybe he knows too much for that one jen, but thanks Grin I will try to be a bit casual about it though...

Hi shecutofftheirtails or may we abbreviate you? Tails perhaps...you're glowing already by the way, just after one post....

Solars · 09/08/2011 16:20

This sounds all so unromantic but Jaggy how about 'well the more we do now the less we have to when we get our result' ???

Hi Tails :)

jaggythistle · 09/08/2011 16:30

He is a fickle man solars. When my libido went on quite a long holiday after DS was born, he was all about the grumbling, now he thinks it's amusing to complain about too much! :)

I like it though, promise him a wee rest soon Grin

havealittlefaithbaby · 09/08/2011 16:34

Hi tails and solar nice to have you.
I am now at the frantic obsessive knicker checking stage but don't feel like af will there any second. Maybe FF is right for a change and she'll arrive tomorrow. Oh the irony, my new pee sticks and af are likely to turn up at the same time!!
Massage jaggy, massage!!

dreamfeeder · 09/08/2011 17:53

I tried massage have, didn't get a shag, had to put it bluntly- 'oh come on, i'm not letting you go to sleep until you put out' You can hear the violins in the background for poor DH if you listen hard enough!!!! jaggy, nice grub and a drink or 2 is the most romantic i can come up with!!! or what about saying you had a lewd dream about having nookie in X (like lounge or wherever) and try and tempt him with something a bit different!!! like i could be bothered with that

generic Cherry Healey was/is some sort of sleb, don't know- but she got accidentally preggo at 28, then when preggo did a documentary on birth (as she was totally bricking it, an experience i symapthise with), then she did a documentary on infant feeding 'is breast best?' (she decided yes after seeing all the leading experts) and explored her guilt about giving up bf after 2 or 3 weeks as she got mastitis (i also sympathise, though i got it when DD was messing around at age 7-8 months twice). I love Cherry Heally now, what a shame i missed it!!!!!

dreamfeeder · 09/08/2011 17:54

and hello tails!! glowing over there in your corner, get stuck into the baked goodies, we're all eating for two you know

dreamfeeder · 09/08/2011 17:55

and jaggy, starting your post with 'we have a positive pee stick' nearly had me leaping off my chair even though I knew you were too early (wrong timings but i wondered if you'd discovered a 6 week old baby hiding in there or something!!!)

jaggythistle · 09/08/2011 18:24

yes dream, i did think it was a bit evil. :)

i may actually go for massage, i don't get home till 10.30 though so I'll have to hope he's still awake first...

doing a bit more baking later this week, that's bound to help with general diffedness.

can't be bothered with work, boo!

dreamfeeder · 09/08/2011 20:07

jaggy, marvellous rat-smacking efforts to consider massaging your dh when it's you who's been at work til 10:30. BOO for work! And i think they're all the same- we had a long drought in this house after DD's birth as it took absolutely forever for my third degree tear to heal- we did try earlier but way too painful. in fact, i was only convinced to really start trying to get back into it with any regularity when we talked abot ttc no.2!!!

i'm going to learn to bake. Properly. I did make a crumble this week so thats a very promising sign of upduffedness for me Smile.

Dream I would say you deserve the gold badge for your 13 out of 15 night marathon - very impressive (Envy)

jaggythistle · 09/08/2011 21:51

I'd say the platinum badge dream. Mine's maybe a tin one, for efforts of fighting sleepiness. yawn.

havealittlefaithbaby · 10/08/2011 06:24

I'm out. Af arrived overnight. I'm gonna take some time off from brooking. DH's blood tests are out of range which is affecting his sperm (found out yesterday) so I think it's unlikely to happen til we get him sorted medically. I'll still come in and wave pompoms for you guys! But I can't brook myself for a while.

Biscuitsandtea · 10/08/2011 06:42

Have I'm so sorry to see that Sad. I have been lurking and following your progress and just wanted to say I really feel for you. I do hope they can do something to help your DH and that you get some answers soon xx

havealittlefaithbaby · 10/08/2011 06:43

Thanks biscuits. From Google searching it sounds treatable but I think it may take some time/specialist input to establish the case before they can treat. So unprotected but not intensively shagging seems to be the way forward for a while. How are you feeling?

Imps7 · 10/08/2011 06:57

Sorry to hear your news Have. It's difficult to keep the faith but we will all be doing so on your behalf and rooting for you and OH. Definitely agree with the approach to keep on shagging even if not with intent. Keep us posted on what is happening.

Biscuitsandtea · 10/08/2011 06:58

Sounds pretty sensible Have. TTC becomes a habit after a while I think and not in a good way. You get stuck 'waiting' to get pg and everything else gets sidelined. Hopefully you can get the right specialists quickly and move on.

I'm not doing too badly thank you for asking Smile. Occasional feelings of v low level nausea are keeping me guessing as don't feel as bad as when pg with ds but could still just be early days as am still only 7 weeks today. DH says we can have a scan I think so will try to wait for next week for that (or at least that's how I interpreted what he said... I think he is at the very least convinceable on the early scan now).

Do take care of yourselves. Do you have something nice planned for the two of you this weekend to cheer yourselves up? A nice meal or a movie or something? I should imagine yesterday's news plus AF arriving overnight would make me have want chocolate for every meal today Sad

GenericDietCola · 10/08/2011 07:45

Oh no Have I'm so sorry. Sorry to hear about the results too, but good that it's treatable. Agree with everyone e lse to take it easy and just enjoy being a couple for now. You will get that baby in time, I am sure.

Jaggy your post also made my heart skip a beat! We haven't had a BFP for a while now and I thought you'd sneakily gone and got one. Hope you managed to seduce your DH last night and smack that rat.

Dream ta for the info re Cherry Healey! I only saw about half of the programme, but it was interesting. The other ones sound interesting too. You deffo qualify for the platinum shagging badge!

Went out last night and saw Horrible Bosses. It was pretty funny, but I saw Hangover 2 a month or so ago and that was hilarious! Best go and research early preg tests do some work.

GenericDietCola · 10/08/2011 07:46

Oh hi Biscuits sorry forgot to talk to you! Good to hear re scan and 7 weeks already is great!

scarletfingernail · 10/08/2011 08:41

Hi have sorry to hear your update Sad. At least you know what you're dealing with now and can hopefully get it sorted out. Life's full of surprises and you never know, it could still happen now you're not expecting it to.

Hey biscuits I'm delighted to hear everything's going well for you. How exciting to think that next week you'll be seeing your little baby on the scan bouncing around. I remember having an 8 week scan with DS, he looked like a little jumping bean flickering about.

Hi Solars and tails

dream I can hardly believe your shagathon is still going! Surely that rat has been smacked by now?

7dpo here and my soon to be positive pee sticks have arrived. I've had to hide them away as was sorely tempted to try one out Blush I have to say a big thanks to you guys as I never knew anything about cheap pee sticks before this thread and at £7 for 25 of the things that's my bargain of the year. As long as they're not dud BFN ones

NinjaChipmunk · 10/08/2011 09:34

oh have sorry to hear about the double whammy you've had, but very glad you think its treatable. Take some pressure off as the others have said and hopefully we'll see you soon

Hello to all the newbies whose names I will remember but can't quite at the moment as its too early i the morning and I am supposed to be working.
The Sexing has not yet started as we've both been too knackered but should be on for tonight (cd9) and then for the forseeable future.
good luck for an early scan biscuits let us know all about it!

GenericDietCola · 10/08/2011 09:40

Who's next to confirm? I've sort of lost track of where everyone is. Is it the three-way celebration between me, Scarlet and Dream ? If so, we need to agree a day and all confirm at the same time to really show those pee sticks who's boss.

All the best for the shagathon Ninja - this is The Month - I can feel it in my water.
