Conception

When's the best time to get pregnant? Use our interactive ovulation calculator to work out when you're most fertile and most likely to conceive.

We are all jolly well going to get preggers this month in a nonchalant non-psycho way, and hang onto it, and there will be no brooking of any argument whatsoever!

Welcome across Rat Smackers! Glad you found the place okay. This is THE MONTH when we get those deceitful pee sticks to own up to the BLINDINGLY OBVIOUS - we are all already preggers! After all; positive people get positive pee sticks!

I hope you all like what I've done with our new home

You'll note the updated title, courtesy of farfalla. Various healthy snacks have been set out on the coffee tables, to ensure our bumps are receiving the appropriate nutritional balance

Also, my personal favourite adjustment, you'll note the strategically positioned peephole, right here, providing us with a sneaky preview of the utopian delights awaiting us in the NO BROOKING vomitorium ante-natal thread.

So let's get to it preggos! Remember: see a rat - smack it!

Farfalla, bless you, I know exactly what you are going through with OH. Out of 8 cycles, we've only had a shag during the all important time twice - 6 cycles have completely gone to waste. IT IS SO FRUSTRATING but the absolute worst thing about it is that it's not a frustration that you can share with OH - you just have to bite your tongue and deal with it alone. I've actually stopped thinking about OH and I "trying to conceive" now - we've just stopped using contraception, that's all. I tell myself that this isn't a race, it's a journey and that it will happen when it happens even if that's in 5 years' time. Sometimes I'm happy with that thought, other times my impatience gets the better of me!! I think your tactic is the only way forward - a couple of months of not even mentioning babies/pregnancy/TTC etc and the pressure will ease off OH. I wish you all the very best - I know how hard it is.

Not that any of that means that I've starting brooking arguments - I absolutely HAVE NOT. This is my month, OH will shag me, a delightful new life will be created and in 9 month's time I will be shooting a bubba out of my wazoo! HA take THAT you rats.

Dream, it's all sounding good! Have - it's all sounding bloody marvellous!! BFP!! BFP!! BFP!!! BFP!!!

havealittlefaithbaby · 08/08/2011 20:59

Thanks for the positive waves, I'm feeling it!! I'm having bizarre twinges..not af like though Hmm.
Shocking to say DH is not brooking no argument. He said I could buy tests if I wanted to but he didn't think this month was the month (and hey with the timing I see his logic) but he doesn't realise I've been brooking no argument all month!
Anyway I've been reviewing my charts (love the scientific research). I'm 14dpo today, my usual luteal phase is 15...the only time I've had temps stay high when I reached 14dpo before was when I had a chemical pregnancy (and I've been drinking juice cartons with pineapple juice in to make it stick). SO I'm obviously upduffed. It's science!

NinjaChipmunk · 08/08/2011 21:06

hello!
I have no chance of remembering what anyone said above except to give massive squishy bear hugs to farfalla
I think I shall start The Sexing tonight if dp is not too tired. Its day 7 here and I'm planning a marathon this month. I wonder if we can manage 9 goes in 12 nights? Poor dp.....

NinjaChipmunk · 08/08/2011 21:08

Oh have you are sooooooooooooo upduffed! I'm just waiting for your bfp in the next couple of days. Your dp doesn't understand the effect of brooking no arguement!

GenericDietCola · 08/08/2011 21:29

Have I'm sooo excited for you - I love the scientific research!

Dream our EWCM is definitely a Good Thing and we are brooking no argument!

Imps I'm glad you are feeling more laid back about it, whilst simultaneously brooking no argument this month. He will shag you and you will be preggo.

Ninja enjoy the marathon and ta for the muffin - babycola needs the fruity goodness!

havealittlefaithbaby · 09/08/2011 06:19

Sorry ladies think I'm out. Temp has dropped significantly this morning, expect af in next 24 hours. This month always was a long shot....:(

Imps7 · 09/08/2011 06:53

Oh no Have Sad Treat yourself to something lovely with the money that you've saved on the pee sticks.

NinjaChipmunk · 09/08/2011 08:43

really sorry to hear that have make sure you do something nice for yourself if she does arrive.

jenfraggle · 09/08/2011 08:59
GenericDietCola · 09/08/2011 09:07

Sorry to hear that have I agree with Imps and Ninja to treat yourself to something or do something nice. x

scarletfingernail · 09/08/2011 09:11

Sad oh have I'm sorry to hear that. It ain't over yet though.

Cycle buddies Generic and dream how's the 2ww for you? I'm only 6dpo and getting jittery. Had a sharp pain shoot through my left boob last night and I was convinced for about 30 seconds it was a preggo symtom Grin

Has the shagathon started Ninja?

Solars · 09/08/2011 10:16

May I join you please? I have freshly baked cinnamon rolls :)

dreamfeeder · 09/08/2011 10:32

scarlett, I am beyond jittery, but this is also because i convince myself at least twice a day I'm ovulating really late and the rat will sneak past me while i'm resting on my laurels waiting... DH had a rare night off last night, but just in case, i'll leap him tonight. But i'm sure generic is right, we're all clearly upduffed, i should relax and await our simultaneous BFP's. I'm not really expecting any symptoms except maybe weeing in the night as that's all i've had early before.... Though i will be delighted to have an entirely different experience to last time- not vomiting my guts up til 16 weeks would be lovely!!! although i wouldn't get thin again like last time which would have been lovely if i wasn't worried about DD nutrition and survival the whole time

Welcome solar, Pull up a ramekin and share your story Grin (better make the ramekin Gu or M&S- there's general bad vibes from cheap and nasty ramekins Wink)

Have, what a shame, i will leave everything crossed just in case.... your DH sounds supportive at least. If you are not preggers now, beat that rat with a bloody great stick next month!!!

ninja, begin The Sexing (had a good giggle at that one). Poor dh has been made to perform from night 9 to now cd24 with only 2 nights off... imagine.

Solars · 09/08/2011 10:53

Thank you Dream, quite new to this board so bear with me. I have both Gu & M&S ramekins (shamefully quite a few of them!! So plenty to share if anyone wants to replace their cheap and nasty ones with mine!). I have to say Dream 13 out of 15 nights (quickly doing the maths in my head) has to be some kind of record right??

I'm on CD2 so really needing the positive vibes at the moment (I've even brought my own pom poms!). This is our first time trying! Can totally understand the unromantic attempts of getting hubby to participate!!! I didn't realise how creative a wife I had to be!!!

Have secretly hoping it's not over for you yet x

jaggythistle · 09/08/2011 12:28

hi solars. :)

ok has anyone seen my egg? it's cd19 and no temp rise here. i have one cheapie ov stick left, i may have to use it before work...

poor DH is going to wonder what's going on, we were on the every second day plan, but i sneaked in an extra SWI after work last night without him noticing he'd not had a day off. Blush the day before had been another nap time ambush, so he did get 36 hours off.

I'm usually a cd 15 or 16 ovulater, cd19 is my previous latest ever.

maybe cutting down the bf is doing something to my body, DS is pretty much not bothering now... :(

dreamfeeder · 09/08/2011 12:51

solar, how exciting, first month ttc! I take it for your first baby-solar? My DD was conceived first time (kind of- had an early mc which was also first time trying, the next time we tried = DD!!). But number 2 is proving much trickier.... elusive rats and all. And 13 out of 15 is some kind of marathon nightmare that won't end.... erratic bf-ing cycle to blame...

jaggy, I think I saw an egg lurking round somewhere, just smack any rats around in case and push on to the 2ww with me, generic and scarlett!!! bf does god knows what to your body...!! bring on some nice, stable normalising hormones if he does stop! But i bet you'll miss it if he does stop probably more than him

thelittlefriend · 09/08/2011 12:57

Rubbish news have. Hope you know for sure either way soon - waiting is crap.

welcome solars I feel all excited for you to be just starting out. Good luck!

Good work everyone else, keep smacking those rats.

jaggythistle · 09/08/2011 13:01

Yup - 13 out of 15 is making my 7 out of 12 look a bit rubbish!

dream I already miss my 10 minutes peaceful cuddling in the morning, feed has been replaced with cuddles and 4560000 books being read when my eyes are just open! I will be happy if weaning goes gently I guess, I was wondering how or when we'd ever stop. :) Guess I'll just see how it goes.

Solars · 09/08/2011 13:06

oh sorry for the confusion I meant this is the first time trying for a baby but unfortunately we are on month 17 :( proving very, very tricky for us!

thank you all for the welcomes :)

GenericDietCola · 09/08/2011 13:09

Hello Solars and welcome

Scarlet since you asked the 2ww is hell! I'm probably half way through it now and thinking about it constantly - can't wait til we get our triple BFPs with dream in a week or two

Jaggy not seen your egg, but there is suspicious squeaking under that cushion

thelittlefriend · 09/08/2011 13:13

Sorry solars, I'm still excited for you though, as now you're on this thread you're already pregnant. It's good here Wink

dreamfeeder · 09/08/2011 14:03

we need some 2 ww distraction. Finally got my bad, nap-skiving baby off to sleep after lunch, hung out my third load of washing and straight back on here, despite the fact i should be doing some of my other million jobs... dh keeps rubbing my tummy and asking if i think i'm upduffed... no pressure!

Right, distraction ideas ladies??? constantly thinking about it is not going to alter our definitely pregnant status... Grin

Did anyone else waste their time watching underage and pregnant last night? I only saw part of it, but must be getting old because I had rage that a pregnant 15 year old who dropped out of school before her GCSE's and does nothing AT ALL to help her family with jobs or money (she said herself feeding the fish was the most she'd do- her mother was making up the baby bottles for her because she can't even be bothered to stack the steriliser!!!) got pregnant straight after her the baby was born (well, the baby was 2 months old) WTF!?!? A benefit scrounger of the future with multipple children in tow.... Great.

GenericDietCola · 09/08/2011 14:09

Hey Little glad to see you and hope you are feeling a bit more positive now. Sorry we are no longer cycle buddies, but looking forward to your BFP in a few weeks.

Dream I need distraction too! I love anything baby or pregnancy related at the moment (well all the time if I'm honest). Didn't see Underage and Pregnant, but I saw a bit of a programme on BBC3 about different parenting styles, which was v interesting. It was presented by Cherry Healey (am I supposed to know who she is? Is she a sleb?)

I think I feel a bit lightheaded today and am craving crisps - deffo preggers! Every morning I have to make sure I have a wee before my half-asleep mind can convince me it would be a good idea to POAS.

jenfraggle · 09/08/2011 15:23

Well I've completely lost my appetite today. I've only had a bowl of cereal for breakfast and nothing since then. Fertility Friend says that AF is not due on Friday and I am normally eating plenty. Right breast is a little tender or is that just my imagination?

jaggythistle · 09/08/2011 15:34

Right we have a positive pee stick - but only an OPK.

DH did not look impressed at the idea of more SWI tonight (I hinted as I went out the door to work) so I need to somehow persuade him without mentioning the OPK.....

You have until 10pm to come up with novel ideas... Grin

We are all just so damn pregnant. Even me and I am only just laying an egg.
