Conception

When's the best time to get pregnant? Use our interactive ovulation calculator to work out when you're most fertile and most likely to conceive.

We are all jolly well going to get preggers this month in a nonchalant non-psycho way, and hang onto it, and there will be no brooking of any argument whatsoever!

Welcome across Rat Smackers! Glad you found the place okay. This is THE MONTH when we get those deceitful pee sticks to own up to the BLINDINGLY OBVIOUS - we are all already preggers! After all; positive people get positive pee sticks!

I hope you all like what I've done with our new home

You'll note the updated title, courtesy of farfalla. Various healthy snacks have been set out on the coffee tables, to ensure our bumps are receiving the appropriate nutritional balance

Also, my personal favourite adjustment, you'll note the strategically positioned peephole, right here, providing us with a sneaky preview of the utopian delights awaiting us in the NO BROOKING vomitorium ante-natal thread.

So let's get to it preggos! Remember: see a rat - smack it!

scream, i broke the news of both my pregnancies to DH (first was a mc) by racing in first thing in the morning waving the positive pee stick when he was half asleep shouting 'bloody hell I'm pregnant'. Can't say i'd recommend it, he was quite traumatised both times!!!!

dreamfeeder · 01/08/2011 16:16

love the pretty box idea Grin Do it!!!! (maybe after his birthday)

Biscuitsandtea · 01/08/2011 16:16

Dream we only monitored out cycles for 3 mths. Having a 28 day cycle and always having been a bit of a square I figured I must ovulate in the middle. I mean I do like to follow the rules.....

However, of the 3 cycles we looked at one ov'd early I think and the other two were late. Hold on I'll look up the numbers....

Biscuitsandtea · 01/08/2011 16:19

Sorry first cycle ov was CD 14 (but I think it looks dubious from the chart - might have been earlier), second was CD 17 and third was CD19 according to temp chart but I had ov pains on CD13 so who knows what the buggery was going on.

dreamfeeder · 01/08/2011 16:29

Right biscuits, you've got me all motivated. another 8 days it is.... poor DH... and I would have exactly expected with a regular 28 day cycle to ov on day 14 or 15, no doubt about it.... I'm so surprised!!!

NinjaChipmunk · 01/08/2011 16:31

now thats dedication Roy Castle would be proud of!

NinjaChipmunk · 01/08/2011 16:32

I should possibly add [old gimmer emoticon] after that last comment.

farfallarocks · 01/08/2011 17:35

Now I am grateful for short cycles I tell ya, at least I can stop at CD17 (!)

I will update y'all later, given its only CD9 I think I am jumping the gun a little but have already worked out we can;t do it on CD10 and CD12 as we won't be together and DH gets up at 530am to go to work and is not inthe mood (trust me, I have tried!)

Is anyone else beginning to feel a bit undesirable? I mean, DH used to chase my tail constantly and now it seems like its always me pestering him for nookie subtly seducing him.

dreamfeeder · 01/08/2011 17:43

Yes farfalla. I know i am not using subtle tactics, but my DH would know as my libido has disappeared been poor since birth of DD. He's not that daft... But he used to be such a sex pest and now the shoe's on the other foot i hate it!!! He was getting really grumpy last night and said he felt like a sperm donor (though when he's not tired/got a cold/ grumpy he's also v keen to increase our family!). But I do feel like a bit of a cow a lot while pestering him... VERY impressed you tried at 530am. my DH once suggested it before he went to work and baby woke up at 6am and i said no thanks!!

And as my last cycle was 34 days, i don't know when to stop swi with my total lack of ov clues... any suggestions? is cd 25 too early...?

scarletfingernail · 01/08/2011 17:48

Yes farfalla I know exactly how you feel. Especially as this is now the 4th time we've been through it!

scarletfingernail · 01/08/2011 17:50

Dream I think the luteal phase is usually at least 9 days, so CD 25 would probably be around the right time to have a break from it. You should have covered all bases by then.

farfallarocks · 01/08/2011 18:10

Good to hear I am not the only one, sigh.
Good luck everyone!

havealittlefaithbaby · 01/08/2011 19:25

Interestingly DH and I were evenly matched until ttc. Then I stopped the pill and antidepressants while he gradually got more depressed. Now it'a mostly me.initiating. as he recovers from.his depression things are improving but yes I have to entice him for swi. After the first rush of marriage we only dtd about twice a week anyway so we had to up the game for swi.
ninja I will be excitedly checking MN in the morning! I think being on your longest cd with no af means you are now officially late!

dreamfeeder · 01/08/2011 20:12

Thanks scarlett. My normally ever obliging DH has come home from 12 hours at work having had an awful day and is exhausted. One of the first things he said was he didn't think he could do any SWI. Poor man. I feel so bad that he finds it such a chore at the min. I really really hope i have smacked a rat because I don't think we can do tihs again- not so often anyway, it's so much effort when we're both tired after work/ baby care all day.

have, we were on about the same for normally with about twice a week. I thought that was pretty good, after a drunken chat with two of my best friends who confessed it can often be 2 weeks and sometimes sl more between shags for them and their boyfriends!

ninja is going to confirm tmw and spur us all on to get the shags in!!! Wink I am sure we will all be disappointed if the FR says no and tries to cheat her out of her blindingly obvious pregnancy.

scarletfingernail · 01/08/2011 20:17

I know what you mean Dream After being up for now 14 hours with a very energetic toddler the thought of seeking out rats tonight makes me feel very weary. But smack that rat we will! And it will work! Positive people get positive pee sticks remember.

havealittlefaithbaby · 01/08/2011 20:17

dream why don't you give the poor fella a massage?

dreamfeeder · 01/08/2011 20:20

Right. Off I go to massage. Back, ego, whatever it takes Grin . I shall hunt nookie first. Then rats. I'm coming for you, oh sneaky little rats.... (if i can get a partner in crime that is)

dreamfeeder · 01/08/2011 20:21

what do we want? POSITIVE PEE STICKS*
When do we want them? NOW!

NinjaChipmunk · 01/08/2011 20:35

or first thing in the morning Wink

farfallarocks · 01/08/2011 20:58

well that went well, NOT.
Tried to mooch up to DH after nice BBQ and he said I was being annoying, was 'obsessed' and he was not in the mood.
So upset that I am in tears and he is sulking upstaits.
hmmmm not quite the evening I had imagined

GenericDietCola · 01/08/2011 21:01

Aw Farfalla sorry to hear that - it's really hard isn't it? I hope you sort things out this evening.

NinjaChipmunk · 01/08/2011 21:06

sorry to hear that too farfalla I hope you make it up. I think sometimes the pressure gets a bit much and maybe women don't have the same issues (we don't need to get anything to stay up). Maybe take have's idea of a massage that doesn't have to lead to anything (but actually might as long as you don't mention it?)

GenericDietCola · 01/08/2011 21:14

I do think not mentioning it is the best plan - I never tell DH where I am in my cycle, although he must realise when I'm jumping on him all the time. I just don't think he needs the extra stress of knowing he has to perform.

I know you're going through a tough time Farfalla and I hope things improve soon x

BTW Ninja I am an old gimmer too and had a little chuckle at your Roy Castle reference!

NinjaChipmunk · 01/08/2011 21:23

farfalla if every night is getting too much then maybe go for every other night? The stress of ttc is rotten.

scarletfingernail · 01/08/2011 21:49

Sad sorry to hear you're not having a good evening Farfalla
Have you spoken to DH since?

I got the Roy Castle reference too so another old gimmer here. "Dedication's what you need"
