Welcome across Rat Smackers! Glad you found the place okay. This is THE MONTH when we get those deceitful pee sticks to own up to the BLINDINGLY OBVIOUS - we are all already preggers! After all; positive people get positive pee sticks!

I hope you all like what I've done with our new home

You'll note the updated title, courtesy of farfalla. Various healthy snacks have been set out on the coffee tables, to ensure our bumps are receiving the appropriate nutritional balance

Also, my personal favourite adjustment, you'll note the strategically positioned peephole, right here, providing us with a sneaky preview of the utopian delights awaiting us in the NO BROOKING vomitorium ante-natal thread.

So let's get to it preggos! Remember: see a rat - smack it!

i don't recall this weird af-like feeeling in my tummy on and off all the time when pg with ds. hmm, if only i wasn't at work.

farfallarocks · 01/08/2011 13:44

Ninja!!! FX for you
I would definitely say FR , by far the most sensitive.

I am very impressed with all the SWI, there is NO WAY we would manage it that often if not on holiday.
I am already stressing out as have had highs on the shag dicatator since day 7 (!) on say 9 now, still high, have never usually got a peak until 12 or 13, not sure how long I can keep it up for (scuse the pun)

scarletfingernail · 01/08/2011 13:46

I can remember reading somewhere how if it's not your first pregnancy you feel more cramps and heavy type feelings in your uterus second time round. I think it's quite common after you've already carried a child to term. I can't remember the explanation for it but I'll try and find out and get back to you.

NinjaChipmunk · 01/08/2011 13:47

swi is knackering, there is no 2 ways about it. I don't think i know how to have non-swi anymore!

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 01/08/2011 14:07

Ninja your cycles are really similar to mine! Personally I always use my longest recorded cycle when estimating my AF due date. Didn't really work for me last month unfortunately, as the evil witch turned up two days later than ever before! However I still think that's the most conservative way to do it.

So in your situation I would consider myself late if AF hasn't turned up by the end of tomorrow. HOWEVER it's got to be worth testing now anyway! If the pee sticks are going to behave this month then they'll do so from today I would have thought!

Can't wait for your confirmation!!

dreamfeeder · 01/08/2011 14:26

straight for fr!! or clear blue. No messing around with a cheapie ninja. i'd wait til a day late- so tmw morning, go for it!!!!

I do pelvic floor ex's after swi to help those little swimmers and try and distinguish, but scarlett, i totally agree, no idea whats EWCM, DH baby gravy or pre-seed escaping.... So frustrating!! Pre-seed has applicators like a tampon applicator though (not sure if concieve plus does too) so at least some of it is in the right place to help. And after a third degree tear that took forever to heal there is no nookie in the Dream household without a little aid just in case it still hurts!!!

So I get no EWCM, no cramps, no change in libido, NO SIGN of ever ov... but i didn't before DD so that must just be me.

Early scans are hard to judge. New Gvt Guidelines are to avoid any uneccessary scans (so i was told), such as the 4D scans etc. Links to.... forgotten what....one of the things was left handedness and the other was something i might have cared about!! but basically advised to avoid, so biscuits, i wouldn't bother with a scan before 8 weeks either, esp if only false reassurance.

Also on a shagathon scream, in the idea of letting no rat escape. Can't fail surely Grin

dreamfeeder · 01/08/2011 14:28

farfalla, it really is a total chore a lot of effort, but keep it up Wink it'll be worth it!!!

dreamfeeder · 01/08/2011 14:31

only found this link about US in pregnancy, can't find the exact one I was after...

dreamfeeder · 01/08/2011 14:48

And not meaning to be a scare-mongerer, i had my normal scans with DD absolutley fine, just that I wouldn't have any extras unless absoltely needed- I ended up having 2 or 3 scans at 40 weeks after prolonged rupture of membranes with no labour... just gave me pause for thought!

NinjaChipmunk · 01/08/2011 14:54

i'm so bored and i want to go home but i don't as it won't make any difference as i just have to wait till tomorrow to find out. bah. right. will buy FR on the way home. Thats sure to bring an end to this one way or another! I was fine this morning, but am feeling a little....mentally tested this afternoon. I sooo hope its a positive. Its my birthday later this week and my first gynae appointment too! Would be lovely to be able to cancel it!

dreamfeeder · 01/08/2011 15:03

ninja don't worry (hows that for useless advice!!!). Anyway, you're on this thread, clearly already preggers and late! FR will tell the truth tomw. We know it's not a sneaky lying pee stick and will own up to your bfp!

NinjaChipmunk · 01/08/2011 15:16

I know. its funny up till now i've had steely resolve and not bought any tests but since this is the first time since xmas i've been this late its thrown me somewhat.
I need to focus on something else till tomorrow. When is everyone else due to test?

dreamfeeder · 01/08/2011 15:20

not for AGES and AGES for me 21st aug ish if no af

dreamfeeder · 01/08/2011 15:20

i will be buying no tests until if i'm late because i'm too tight skint...

NinjaChipmunk · 01/08/2011 15:25

21st is not so far away, I can sense it will be positive even if you haven't yet layed this months golden egg.

GenericDietCola · 01/08/2011 15:34

Ooh Ninja tomorrow is not too long to wait. No advice other than try to distract yourself as much as possible.

Thanks to everyone for the EWCM advice! I didn't want to get too obsessed with it and am just swi at what I think is the right time, but I'm just curious. I've had lots of symptoms of ov, but I can't be sure if they are real or imaginary! I even had cramps yesterday, but no more twinges. Actually, I'm certain the cramps were implantation! I will be confirming my pregnancy around 20/21 August too as I'd like to wait til I'm officially late.

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 01/08/2011 15:38

I'm a stupidly early tester, so if my eggy turns up on time this month (this Sunday) I will be testing for the first time on DH's birthday (16th August). I would only be 10 dpo at that stage though, so I won't be holding my breath! It would just be sooooooooo lovely to be able to give him a positive pee stick on his birthday!!

OP posts:
NinjaChipmunk · 01/08/2011 15:43

Grin at giving dh a pee stick for his birthday, you'll have to think of a jaunty way to present it.

farfallarocks · 01/08/2011 15:48

Love the idea of pee stick birthday present, make sure you put the lid end on.
Dh has just emailed suggesting we have a BBQ a deux tonight so I am wondering at what point I should try to seduce him? I can see some nice opportunities - let me char your sausage springs to mind.

I have considered just syaing, right, we are doing it tonight and every other night this week and I am BROOKING NO ARGUMENT but I think that might be a bit of passion killer.

Biscuitsandtea · 01/08/2011 15:48

Afternoon ladies Smile

Right, let's see if I can remember everything you've all been talking about.

Ninja Firstly GOOD LUCK tomorrow. I'd go First Response I think if I were you. Look forward to your most excellent news tomorrow :)

And thank you for asking - my IVF friend took the news quite well I think (although it was all by text so I don't know if she was leaping around her house like a loon, or sobbing on the sofa or somewhere in between - which it probably was to be fair). I phrased it as having had a positive pg test (rather than being pg - small difference but more accurately reflected how i felt) and she said she had wondered if that was why i'd gone quiet but hadn't wanted to bug me. So we are now mutually crossing everything for each other's respective IVF and pg!

EWCM - I think I already might have said I could never fathom this bit out and don't think I had any. Never paid enough attention - which is an odd thing as I am a fanatical toilet wipe watcher around the time AF due but not the rest of the time [bush]

SWI - we used to try every other day from a few days after AF normally until we couldn't be bothered any more about CD 17 ish? A bit later if we could. Occasionally we'd manage an extra one or two in between as well. We ALMOST got caught out this last month as my ov monitor thing (not CBFM) thought i had ov'd one day, and on that day i'd had ov pains so thought it was all game on. So a few days after that we started to ease off a bit on the SWI. Then the monitor changed its mind and decided I hadn't ov'd at all. Then it decided I had ov'd a week later than originally thought. Eventually ov was right at the end of our SWIing - we must have been lucky!

Ov pains - I used to get them on the right hand side. Never remember having them before about December / January (presumably my body decided I need a bit more help pinpointing ov!) but then have had them most months since. Oddly enough I never knew what they were. This was in my pre MN days and I went to the GP who referred me for a scan because of them. In fact I saw 2 GPs and neither one of them suggested it might be something to do with ov. They actually referred me for the scan in case it was something that was causing the lack of pg (as we had been ttc for 12 months by this point!).

Maybe GPs should read more MN?

Oh, and early scans - thank you all for your advice on this. I think I will definitely try to hold out until at least 8 weeks and see how we are doing. Not sure if GP would refer me as had one mc but a subsequent successful pg? Anyway, I have my booking in appt with the mw 2 weeks on Thursday when I'll be 8+1 by cycle dates so will ask her about it then and take it from there. If I can hold out until 12 weeks I'll try to. We did with DS even despite having had the mc the time before. I must have been doing some serious mentalling.........

Think that's everything.......

NinjaChipmunk · 01/08/2011 15:57

blimey well remembered biscuits! Do you take notes as you read? This thread moves so fast I find it difficult to keep up with who said what.
Glad your friend took it well though. FX for her.

farfalla you could whip him with the sausages until he agrees?

Biscuitsandtea · 01/08/2011 16:07

No notes taken but I did have to wait until I was back on the computer so I could scroll back through as I was typing :)

Loving the idea of Farfalla's BBQ seduction. You couldn't HAVE more opportunities surely to put his mind in the right place than a BBQ? Especially one where you're not restrained by having parents or other frowny people there who might not appreciate the odd lewd suggestive comment Wink

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 01/08/2011 16:10

Impressive post Biscuits!

Farfalla personally I think the best way to enough SWI would be to make the sausages conditional on the SWI! Only kidding of course, no one in their right mind would get between a guy and his sausage Wink

Do you think if I bought a pretty box and lined it with toilet paper, put the the positive pee stick in and wrapped a bow around the box, DH might be happy with his gift?! Grin

Actually to be honest, even though DH does want a mini person of our very own, I think his first reaction is quite likely to be panic! On second thoughts I might need to hold off testing until AFTER his birthday!

OP posts:
dreamfeeder · 01/08/2011 16:14

farfalla, i did EXACTLY say we are SWI every night until i say we're not (didn't want to say for exactly how long as thought he'd die or horror and the lack of romance of it all) and lovely, compliant DH is doing his bit!!!! What about 'can I tempt you with a chippolata?!?' Wink

Having heard all these stories of people ov'ing way way later than they'd thought i think i will try and swi every night until cd 24 or 25 (which would be another 8 days...OMG!). esp as little said that was what her fanny cam showed... feeling extraordinarily quite jealous of those who can tell when it's happened and swi accordingly...
