Hi ladies, mind if I join you? The title was inviting!!
Not sure of all the abbreviations so forgive me but been TTC (know that one!) for three years, one failed ICSI cycle and only crossed over to the wee sticks this month. They're already something of an obsession...

Anyway, got a smiley face this morning and then no smiley face this afternoon. That can't be good can it? The world wide web is just confusing me, can anyone help?

Hello and welcome TheNightNurse - it is a really friendly place, so much so many of the graduates above keep popping back to this "home" Grin However, I am now the longest one here - as 3yrs ttc#1 and one failed ICSI (now having to self fund - ouch!). Abbreviations took me a while, now I know them!! CBFM is the clear blue fertility monitor - some use the monitor, others ovulation sticks only. With the monitor it takes a month to "know" your cycle - and for us it has taken the stress out of ttc as this is long term ttc!!!Sadly. CD is what day of cycle you are on (1 being first day of bleeding) and UCL is standard monthly cycle length. Hope your stay here is short and sweet. If you want to add your stats, just copy and paste the above - people usually update them when AF (period) arrives or when they are bored (like me today!!) x

Loup - ah now I understand, sounds a pro-active gp!

Hello All,

Just popped on to catch up with you all and to update my stats and age :( thenightnurse welcome, welcome. It's a fab board for support advice, joyful moments and sounding off. It sounds like you have much in common with Keziah and me in the fact that its long term ttc (and a thousand apologies if I have missed others out!)Hoping for a peak tomorrow - would be great to coincide it with a wknd! I'm once again working on theory that it has to my turn soon! Lots of luck and love to all

Tilly xx

TheNightNurse · 09/06/2011 19:24

Hey, thanks for being nice!

So Tilly and Keziah are we officially "long term" TTCer's I didn't realise, shit!
So any advice with the smiley face/no smiley face?

Tis my first cycle with the sticks and it's already doing my head in! I resisted them for so long but DH has been taking a wonderful concoction of vitamins which have considerably improved things. 33% motility to 100%!!! Unfortunately I think the problem is now me.
Gonna try and add my stats.

Is 11 DPO to early to test? I'm having a serious breakdown in willpower at the moment! gggrrrrrr

weimy · 09/06/2011 22:14

Step away from the stick Raspberry it is far too soon!!!!!

raspberrytipple · 09/06/2011 22:15

I know :( but I'm obviously not using the CBFM sticks this side of ovulation and I NEED TO PEE ON SOMETHING!!!!!!

MiniH · 10/06/2011 06:33

Raspberry - oh I know that feeling. How on earth is poas so addictive!!!!

izzybizzybuzzybees · 10/06/2011 09:19

Hi Ladies
I'd like to join you if you dont mind? We've been ttc#2 since november but not really had much hope of a bfp since ive not been having periods :-( The GP prescribed me provera a couple of months back which eventually gave me a very light bled, had nothing since until 5 days ago where i got my period naturally.

This is our first month using the monitor (used it for DD1) but i stupidly set it at night meaning i'll have to test in the evening! oops! I'm not too worried as its only first real month ttc so will set it properly next month....tho maybe i wont need to!

farfallarocks · 10/06/2011 09:28

Nightburse - I think the LH surge can be very quick indeed so it is not unusual to get it in the morning and not in the afternoon, don;t worry about that.

Arte you using the clear blue digital test (smiley faces) or the clear blue fertility monitor?

boba82 · 10/06/2011 10:12

Tilly Happy Birthday, hope you've had a nice one?

Raspberry Don't do it! Wait until day AF due - trus me my name's Boba and I'm a recovering POAS addict!

Welcome nightnurse and izzybizzy and good luck.

TheNightNurse · 10/06/2011 12:13

Hi Izzy, hi all!

Thanks, Farfallrocks - I'm using the clear blue smiley faces, first cycle. Hate, hate, HATE them already!

Last ditch attempt before second ICSI this autumn. Self-funding...

farfallarocks · 10/06/2011 12:22

Understood, if you are usuing the smiley faces then very normal to just get the surge for a few hours.

Most of us here are usuing the ferility monitor which also gives you a bit more warning (high days before the peak, the peak being the equivalent to the smiley face). Because I am a paranoid nutter I sometimes back up with the smiley faces too!

Best of luck with it all

Rasberry I know how you feel, I am a POAS addict and it feels odd not be peeing on something! How long is your luteal phase? Perhaps try and hold out until Sunday morning at least?

raspberrytipple · 10/06/2011 13:15

AF is due Monday if I have a 28 day cycle. I had my peak two days on 29th/30th May I think it was so if I hold out til Monday/Tuesday I may even make it without getting a test in. I'm sure I can feel AF on it's way so it might be better to wait for it to arrive than test and see BFN. In fact, I know it's on it's way because I feel so bloody miserable and stroppy and hungry.... :( I always find it more demoralising to get a BFN than to wake up and find AF has joined me so I try to hold off and have done well for the last few. Think I'm just anxious as I was desperate to be pg when we got married, have had it in my head that I want our little bump with us on the big day, totally insane I know but it's in my head now and I can't get it out!

raspberrytipple · 10/06/2011 13:18

lol Boba! My names Raspberry and I am still addicted to pee'ing on things!

Hello Izzy!

And thanks everyone else, I know I'm not allowed to pee on anything until Monday at least I reckon

(sorry for the two messages, am at work and thought someone went to open my office door and pressed 'post message' in my shock at getting caught!! Oh the secret life we lead!

Ilovekittyelise · 10/06/2011 13:53

raspberry; if you can wait, wait, otherwise you are just wasting money on tests; however, in fairness they do tend to show a positive result at 10 or 11 dpo in my experience (well, i was pretty certain i was pregnant, my period was due on 2nd of january and i wanted to figure out whether i could get smashed on new years eve or not!)

farfallarocks · 10/06/2011 15:12

I have bought the internet cheapies from amazon so at least if I can't resist I feel less guilty about the vast amounts of cash!

Rasberry - if AF does come, at least you can enjoy a nice glas (or 5) of champers on your big day!!

Keziahhopes · 10/06/2011 16:20

raspberry - poor you, you do sound addicted!! Internet cheapies are the way ahead for bank balances I have found - though have weaned myself off testing now!!

Hi tilly - how far have you got with testing etc?
nightnurse - am in same boat, trying everything before a 2nd icsi cycle.

Hello izzy - all the best with ttc number 2; how old is number 1? Hope monitor helps you x
