Thanks for the recipe MamapGrinGrin I'm ok, thanks for asking. Anxiety seems to be coming and going at the moment depending on how busy I am/how much distraction I can find.

wombat everything crossed for you. Just want to say that with DS my first scan was at 15 weeks (those were the days!) so I missed the nuchal test and my "risk" number was just on bloods only. It came back very high, I got scared witless, had amniocentis and he was just fine. I know you have got a few extra worries on your plate too, but please remember blood results are quite inaccurate, so dont wibble too much if the come back high, just means further tests required, not that something is definitely wrong. xxxx

Wombat33 · 01/03/2011 17:17

Thanks Mummya - I'll keep that in mind!! I think because there are so many unknowns for me I'm anxious about everything. Apparently the bloods can come back high due to other genetic anomolies that aren't testable by amnio so in my case and amnio for downs/other trisomies wouldn't put an end to my worrying (ha - will anything ever!! Grin ) Still, on the scan yesterday we could see hands and feet again so I'm hoping with all my heart that this pg might just be "normal" Smile

Good luck for keeping busy/sane your end. Are you going to get in for an early scan at some point (obv it is a little bit too early yet...)?

hairylights · 01/03/2011 18:19

Wave to everyone, hope you are all well, have had a good read about you all.

I'm coming out of the fog now, just wanted to pop by and say 'hi' to my old muckers.

Loving the new name Dachs am so excited for you with twinnies!!!!

owlbooty · 01/03/2011 18:38

Always lovely to see you, missus, v.glad the fog is lifting :)

PinkFondantFancy · 01/03/2011 19:38

Catch up later but wanted to share my rage-seats on the train facing each other are too close, so it's hard for your knees not to touch the opposite person's. However, most people make some kind of effort not to invade other peoples space, and it's ok if it's blokes opposite each other cos they sit with their legs open and they sort of interlock. The guy that just sat opposite me however sat how he wanted to sit which involved him attempting to force my legs apart with his knee!!! I feel totally violated! Wish I wasn't just a wimp, was dying to ask him what the eff he thought he was doing!!!!

hairylights · 01/03/2011 19:43
DoubleDiffedDachs · 01/03/2011 19:50

pink am with you on train rage. This morning the guy opposite me kept treading on my feet and then peering down at them as if they were in his way, although he had already got more than half the foot space, and then he tried to shove my feet apart to give his great big hooves more room! I felt very grr...

Velvetcu · 01/03/2011 20:36

Helloooo hairy glad you are feeling a bit brighter.

Soo I'm having a bit of a wibble mainly I think coz I feel like shite! I got kind of flu type aches in my hips and back - is this normal or an ominous sign? Also my goo was more beige than I would like today :(

Also, tried to talk to DH about when to go for a scan and he was most unhelpful! I don't know whether to go next Friday at (fx) 7 weeks or leave it til the week after since 8 weeks seems to be a magic number. I also want one at 10+5 ish just to check things are ok before we fly to japan. The first one will defo be private coz I'm not booking in til I've seen a heartbeat but hopefully can get the second one nhs. Please help :(

tonythetyger · 01/03/2011 20:53

waves hello to all. I may be off for about a week or so due to moving house and therefore loss of broadband. I'm sure by that point a new and exciting thread will have started and I'll have missed loads (unless I sneak a peek from work).

KnitterNotTwitter · 01/03/2011 20:55

Velvet If you can hold on to 8 weeks thats when I'd go personally. Having had one at 5+4 I'm telling myself i can hold on til 9 weeks....

Velvetcu · 01/03/2011 21:02

knitter did your scan make you feel any better? Next Friday just seems achievably close to me. And I'm thinking if it has gone wrong again I want to be able to get things sorted so I can still go away. It's awful to be feeling like this

KnitterNotTwitter · 01/03/2011 21:22

Velvet the 5+4 scan was definitely a good thing... I've had an ectopic before so it was also mandatory! My MMC had at 8 weeks (detected at 13) so hence the next scan will be self-referral to my EPU at 9 weeks. That's the one that scares me more to be honest.

With the MMC I had a scan at 5 weeks but they said I could go back at 7 weeks to actually see the baby as at 5 weeks we could only see the sac. So I went back at 7 weeks and there was the tiny baby with a clear heartbeat and everything... Only for it to die about a week later :(

In my mind it probably died because the placenta didn't form properly and I suspect that might be because we got pregnant again so quickly after the ectopic. My ectopic was very dramatic - ruptured tube, blue lights to hospital, emergency surgery etc... I lost about a litre and a half of blood.... We were lucky to get pregnant again the first month we tried after the ectopic only to have the crush of the MMC.

As I understand it the two 'magic' moments are at around 6 weeks when the heart must start beating, and at around 8 weeks when the placenta must start working. So if you can wait until after that point you'll cover both eventualities...

I understand the personal intricacies of planning the holiday though...

KnitterNotTwitter · 01/03/2011 21:23

tony good luck in the house move :)

Daisybell1 · 02/03/2011 06:55

Waves hello to all.

I'm not going to be able to check all names - you lot are nattering for England!

Pink have checked out those anti-pee devices and they're not expensive (about £25) but they say not to be used during pregnancy. This might be due to the risk of infection?

Mamap great news on the house, and I'm so glad someone else is taking on FAR too much Grin. I shall have to tell my Dad that someone is taking on far more than me (I only have to help my OH let his new barn conversion, sit my RICS final exam, and clear and sell my house)

Wombat glad all was well with your scan, and good luck with the house move too!

Hugs to all in need today. Have got my 12week scan later. Spare a thought for the poor sonographer who has to spending the afternoon playing russian roulette with my bladder Confused

Good luck to anyone else with scans today. Will return later with enough mojito mix for all Grin

PinkFondantFancy · 02/03/2011 08:16

Fab news on the house mamap! Thanks for mojoto recipe, my v updiffed friend will be v grateful for that! I am a bit freaked by our parallel lives!! Tis very cool though :)

Good luck for your scan today daisy. Arse about the anti pee devices. Is it worth going to your gp and asking if they know why they say not during pregnancy? I would have guessed the same as you that it's because of infection risk but maybe that's because they can't guarantee that everyone will keep them hygenically? Oh BTW don't worry about what the sonographer thinks about bladder-SIL is sonographer and sounds like accidents happen ALL the time. Theyve got a sick medical sense of humour so are not bothered about stuff like that, promise.

Soo wish I could wear leggings to work! I am living in the same old clothes as I don't want to buy any maternity clothes yet, the maternity section of the shops scares me and I feel like a fraud :( I am going to have to bite the bullet and go bra shopping though...

tunnocks thinking of you, hope you're doing ok.

onions you are a cake baking machine!!! Hope the headache has gone away.

knitter LMAO at your dad, that is so sweet :)

dacha so far I've had 4 scans! Blush my scan obsession outweighs my shyness about getting my bits out for the dildo cam.... Grrr about your minging train journey too-people are Sooo rude!!

HUGE hugs for hairy glad to hear you're holding up ok. Xx

velvet I would say achy hips and back sounds about right. Plus there is a really disgusting cold doing the rounds at the moment so it's possible that's what's making you feel gross. It's hard to say with the scans-i guess it would be ideal if you can hold out until 8 weeks but you need to balance that against mentalling levels!! At 7 weeks, even if it implanted late you should hopefully get the reassurance of seeing something.

Anyone hear the programme about morning sickness on radio 4 last night? They said MS either peaks or starts to wane at 10 weeks. Its definitely a peak here-spent most of last night retching! Grin definitely not complaining-the more retching, the less wibbling at this end. Baaaad stuff happening on the number 2 front too-no wonder stomach hurts and feel pukey!!! Grin sorry hope no-one is reading this over their brekkie!! At the moment I'm living off melon and tinned pears but spend all day fantasising about maccy d's cheese burgers. Those specifically mind you!! V v weird!!! Didn't cry at work all day yesterday!! Result!!

Hugs to all, there's a stack of tinned pears on the side since onion 's cakes have all been noshed!! Have a good day all xx

AandRMum · 02/03/2011 08:53

pink glad you held it together for the day. My DMum gave me a stern talking to. It was needed but when I said 'You do realise that I am now thinking - now I need to feel guilty about stressing as I may be harming the baby' she was completely shocked and had no idea I could take it that way.

knitter very sweet of your Dad!!

Daisy I can top even MamaP on the taking on too much stakes - I am the contract manager for building our new home which starts on site pretty much when my 12 week scan should be, I have started a new business and I am supposed to be launching in about 4 weeks, I have two DDs one who is at the terrible 2 age and one very overworked husband who I can't say anything about how overwhelmed I am (primarily about bean rather than any of the other things!) as he is already shouldering too much! - my Dad is hassling me about it all as well but at the moment I have no idea how I can let go of any of it. Oh well - all good stuff and things have a way of slotting into place (normally Confused

Waves to all!

Wombat33 · 02/03/2011 08:57

morning all!

Huge hugs to hairy good to see you! How are things going on the testing front?

daisy good luck on your scan today! Don't worry about the bladder - they are so used to it. But do bear in mind they might keep you waiting a while so be cautious about filling it too much!

Good luck to other rammess today too?

Wombat33 · 02/03/2011 09:01

sorry phone issue! That's good luck to any other scanners today!

pink know what you mean about needing to shop! I've bought the bare minimum and really need more but don't want to goad to jinx pixies Blush

so excited about all the house moves! Our turn to find somewhere next please!

KnitterNotTwitter · 02/03/2011 09:06

fx daisy for your scan today...

owlbooty · 02/03/2011 09:29

Good luck Daisy ! I've had to dash out of two of my three scans for a wee so far. They are totally, totally used to it. And actually, with the last scan, it helped get a better picture afterwards!

onion I have the Primrose Cottage bakery book too; the carrot cake recipe in there is the best I've ever found, I made it for my wedding cake :)

Dachs and Pink - really pointy kitten heels. That's what you need. And a book to pretend to read whilst you 'accidentally' stand on your charming fellow travellers.

Daisybell1 · 02/03/2011 09:36

Thanks all for your good wishes. I'll let you know how we get on. Good tip Wombat, I'll go steady on the drinking (ooh, that doesn't sound good, does it?) Wine Grin

AandR you win! When my dad wibbles, I'll tell him about you and then he'll pipe down! OH was supposed to be starting building 4 houses this summer but he's had a fit of common sense and is leaving it a year - phew.

But we are having a bit of a RL crisis - our beloved sheepdog (working) has dislocated her hip and is all strapped up and looking very Sad. Unfortunately, no one seems to operate a (like teachers) supply service. Anyone have a dog who'd like a nice run round some fields???

digitalgirl · 02/03/2011 10:42

Good luck with the scan daisy

Congrats on the house mamap

Good luck with the move tony

knitter your info about crucial points in early pg has made me very nervous about the next 10 days until my next scan. Am pleased I've got it booked though and hopefully if all is well it means I can really start to relax afterwards.

Despite not even qualifying for a 'bump on board' badge I've already started asking young men to give me their seats on the tube for me. No-one's ever refused. Although with no bump to rub I do spend the rest of the journey looking down and trying to look as ill as possible. Older men always make a fuss about it - trying to clarify whether I'm pregnant or being cheeky. Young men just jump up without a peep.

Well, today I'm 7+4 and it's the day I really need to get through without incident. This time last pregnancy is when it all went wrong, even though I knew it was going to happen. Have backache and have been quite snappy with people already. God help the man who refuses to give up his seat on my journey home.

AandRMum · 02/03/2011 10:45

I think your OH has it right Daisy - common sense is low on the agenda around here - we are like kids in a sweet shop, after a shitty 2010, a whole host of opportunities have suddenly sprouted and we dove straight in! Poor sheepdog - a supply service is a great idea! Oh and on the pelvic floor side of things I have been told there is a device for strengthening it which is a bit like a dildo Blush. You have to hold it in and it measures how the strength of your muscles improve over time. I had the whole pee when you sneeze thing with DD2 and it took a while to be able to run for a bus without it being a bit embarrassing. hmmm will see if I can find it on dr google! Good luck with the scan.

owl onion I can feel a surf on amazon is needed - yum carrot cake - my favourite at the mo is a Delia Smith one. Like your pointy heel style. I hate it when people seat hog - I generally push back - well brought up child that I am!!

AandRMum · 02/03/2011 10:47

((((Digi)))) here's to a boring incident free day!

owlbooty · 02/03/2011 11:13

Digi may your day be blissfully uneventful and dull :)
