The thread moves fast but don't let that put you off - feel free to come along and stay to chat; or dip in and out with any questions.

Oils so sorry for your loss, tuesday is so very recent so i hope you are ok and are doing nice things for youself to make it as easy as possible. Its a sad and horrible thing to happen, it makes me so sad to think how so many women go through this. Glad you've found your way to this thread though, everyone is amazing and i've had so much support.((Big hugs)) for you.

Ninu WHAT????? No Chocolate??????? Nooooooo who says that????? tcan't be right, it just CAN'T!!!!!! I just don't accept it!!

Chloe55 · 11/02/2011 12:13

Welcome Olismum Smile

Does anyone know what time Orange's scan was?

Collie2 · 11/02/2011 12:26

Just had a lurk on the freak out thread and she's had her scan. Looks like orange had good news Smile, although not everyone Sad

Ninunina · 11/02/2011 12:42

Collie I'm ignoring the chocolate thing too. I'll switch to milk chocolate since its contains less caffeine Grin

olismum23 · 11/02/2011 12:45

I am just taking each day as it comes still bleeding at the moment but it has slowed a bit more like a period sorry if TMI, is it safe to start ttc straight after the bleeding one doc at the hospital said i could try as soon as the bleeding has stopped and another said after the first period, bit confused :/

KnitterNotTwitter · 11/02/2011 12:47

Hey ladies

Just thought i'd pop in and see how you all are... Sorry to see that there are some new joiners but welcome to Olismum and babypops.

In terms of TTC again I think it's suggested that you finish your MC bleed and then wait for one more period before you start again. I think this is so that you have an idea about when you ovulated for dating purposes and also it gives your womb a chance to heal properly giving any subsequent pregnancy the best chance possible. You'll also find that your hormones are all over the place (or at least I did) and it's really important that you give yourself the time to process what has just happened to you.

All going ok here thanks - 6 week scan to check it's not ectopic is planned for the 22nd of Feb... but it doesn't feel ectopic so i'm not worried about that. More concered about the weeks after that as that's wen my MMC started to struggle and then died :(

Sorry for not namechecking everyone else - hope you're all doing ok though....

oils i think the guidance to wait until after one period is to make it easier to date your baby. But I suppose its important to be 100% sure everything is 'back to normal' before you do start ttc. Waiting until your next cycle would be the best way to do this, but i know i didn't want to. If you want to ttc before i would say make sure your epu confirms your mc is complete and take a pg test in about a week to check all your pg hormones are gone. (I got that advice of the lovely ladies here)

It is possible to have a healthy pg straight after mc without a period - my friend gave birth last month to healthy baby girl after doing just that.

Take care xxx

olismum23 · 11/02/2011 13:02

Thanks ladies the epu checked me all is away saying that they thought it was a blood clot left and it was baby passed her yesterday though so i think i will wait till bleeding stopped and take a pregnancy test to check its negative it took me 2yrs to conceive this time after my DS so doubt it would be too quick anyhow. thanks for all the support i too think its so sad how common m/c is :(

MumTumWanted · 11/02/2011 13:19

Im indulging my MN threads guilty pleasure for the second time today Blush

was trying to stay up beat earlier, but im failing now... and why ? well.....

ladies i need some advice Confused
mc 29th dec.
stopped bleeding 24th Jan,
poas for LH surge cheapy off internet as i was getting day long headaches, spots , greasy hair and bad mood did this on friday 4th feb, it came out positive for lh surge. we'd decided to wait TTC til after first AF so was pleased that i seemed to be Ov and not so pleased that expected af would be around valentines day but hey the sooner the better right ??

... however no one more surprised than me when wednesday ( 2days ago) just 5 short days after positive ov stick i got what i thought was AF, im usually a five dayer, but today is day 3 and its all but finished already. sorry for TMI but its all been brown, so like old blood, could this just be a final bleed from the MC or is it my real AF?? im so confused... im tempted to just assume it was my AF and start SWI so we can try for that Nov babe , or even go get some more ov sticks to test now, not started with the temping thing so want to start that too...

and just as aside, my OH knows nothing about the ov sticks or my desire to temp chart, he thinks all that is far to mechanical, i feel i need to be a little more in control so am still planning on doing it but with out announcing anything to him... is this wrong ??? i do feel that im being a little calculated about it all.....are any of you in the same position???

babypops · 11/02/2011 13:39

Thank you for the welcomes! Olismum sorry for your loss I think you can start as soon as your body is back to normal and you are healthy.

I avoided tea/coffee/chocolate to are there anymore thing i should avoid for ttc? I heard through MN that peas should be avoided?! also anyone know any ttc superfoods?

Another question before you all mc'ed did you feel connected with the baby? I was 8 weeks when I mc and I never felt connected to the baby some people say they felt pregnant say they felt a connection.

Also when I was pregnant I was always praying/touching wood that everything would be ok - which makes me think if everything was ok i wouldnt have been constantly worrying maybe deep down i knew? Sorry I dont want you all to think i am weird these are things I have never really said to anyone but wondered if it was just me Confused Blush

babypops · 11/02/2011 13:58

Hi mumtumwanted I would say the brown blood was left over blood from mc I think a for a period you need full flow red blood (tmi)

In relation to telling your OH its so hard you want to involve him but there are things guys just dont want to or need to know. We had fertility treatment and it was so hard we had the trigger shot and the doctor told us to DTD so it was very 'right we have to do this at these times' very unromantic and it puts pressure on the guys to preform.

I would say temp and do ov tests as it helps you find out what your body is doing but maybe dont tell him you are not being calculating he wants a baby to, guys sometimes dont know just how planned things have to be.

Collie2 · 11/02/2011 14:01

Oh babypops I'm really sorry you are having these feelings about not connecting with your baby. I really think everyone is different so you shouldn't feel like you should feel any particular way. I completely understand your feelings though. I mc after christmas but found out a week b4 at our 12 week scan and it was a total shock. But with hindsight I've questioned signs that i noticed at the time and tortured myslef trying to establish did i know, should i have known, but like you at the time i didn't really feel connected with the baby. But then again maybe we did, we just didn't know it.

I know when i went to my GP to 'book in' my pg she didn't do a pg test and just asked me do you feel pg.....I said yes, but i had no idea what she was asking me. I just felt that yes was what i should have said.

So i suppose what i am trying to say (in a very long winded way) is i don't think a connection (or lack of) has anything to do with the health of your baby, or you, its just something that varies for everyone. I think the connection probably comes later when the baby is feeding off you and you can feel her (or him) wriggling about.

I think the worrying thing is natural. I checked my nickers everyday (although i did mc), but then so did my friend and shes got her dd.

xx

Ninunina · 11/02/2011 14:04

Babypops I think your reaction was normal, everyone is a bit paranoid that things won't be ok. Miscarriage is unfortunately too common for people not to worry about it. I was certainly worried, yet still remained hopefull that everything would be ok and I started making plans for the future. I can't say I developed a connection, but at the same time, I was aware of everything I did, to make sure I was giving the bean the best start possible.

Next time round, I will no doubt be even more paranoid, but still hopeful. With regards to superfoods..I think a well balanced healthy diet is your best bet since as soon as a new study comes out, another one quickly follows to contradict it. The most important thing is that you eat plenty of leafy greens and take folic acid suppliments, get some essential fats from nuts, oily fish such as salmon and avacados, and try to avoid too many processed foods (since we have no idea what's gone into them).

Collie2 · 11/02/2011 14:09

MumTum i am not sure about your bleeding. your cycle can differ after mc, to what it was b4 though. I think i've read other people describing brown blood as their AF, but i actually think they thought they hadn't ovulated, which wouldn't make sense after your positive opk. You def didn't have unprotected sex? If you did i wouldn't rule out being pg and it being implantation bleed

....but to be fair i have absolutely NO knowledge on this, and only googled 'implantation bleed' this week!!!!

I'd assume it was your AF for now unless something else changes in the next few days.

Re taking your temps and using opk's. Taking your temp without him knowing might be hard as you need to do it as soon as you wake and before you get up. And my thermom beeps when its picked up your temp!!

I don't think i can advise on if you should tell him or not, but i know being able to talk to DH about it helps considerably.

Can you tell i am on my day off and avoiding doing the Housework?!!! I really need to stop lurking!!

Ninunina · 11/02/2011 14:33

I've just read that you sholdn't have a bath whilst you're still bleeding...is that true? I've had several baths already. Should I be worried about infection? Why didn't the doctors mention this?

Collie I don't think I've spent so much time on the net in my entire life. You'll see a lot less of me next week when I hopefully go back to work.

AandRMum · 11/02/2011 14:35

Mumtum it is unlikely to have been your af as you are generally expected to have around 21 days after bleeding has stopped before af will arrive which would tie in with your ov date. If it has all been brown then it was possible some old blood dislodged by sex or body just expelling stuff. I had both of these types of bleeds with brown blood. Your af is likely to turn up for real in a week or so hopefully. I think the first cycle after mc is very appropriately called the WTF cycle!!

Hi all - will post later. Am waiting on a client call - feel a bit ill - sadly enough a small voice says 'ooo a symptom' - idiot more like nerves.

If wine and caffiene stop you conceiving then I don't have a chance!

mummyabroad · 11/02/2011 14:48

Hi everyone,

Sorry I havent been around much, I have been thinking that maybe its time for me to "graduate" from this thread to the Six Form common room thread - where us long term TTCers go to wait for a BFP.

In March it will be a year since my mc, so it feels a bit strange to be on a "Just MC" thread when I havent really "just" mc'd, and most of the people that I started chatting too long ago have all moved on. I will still come back and lurk though, and would really like to stay on the list a bit longer so please keep me on.

Hope you are all well, for those of you who have just joined, you are in very good hands here, these ladies are the most supportive bunch on MN.

xxx

oh yeah, and some needs to start a new thread soon - who is it going to be? The last lady to start got knocked up!!

MumTumWanted · 11/02/2011 15:15

babypops collie and aandr thanks guys, Im tearing my hair out today i really wanted it to be AF now ive decided to TTc again i want to get on with it if you know what i mean !

collie i am working from home, dont appear to be getting much work done though lots of lurking its addictive Grin!

i think for my own sanity i NEED Wink to do the OPK and temping just so i can work out what my body is up to , and OH need not have knowledge of that .... purely only so i can understand where my body is at you understand ... Oh who am i trying to kid !!! didnt realise the temp thing was so regimented ... will have to get oral old fashioned type thermom so no beeps !

sadly collie no unprotected so defo no chance of BFP we were very careful as firstly i wasnt sure i wanted to jump straight back in again and also really felt i should wait for the firtst AF though i have to say it did feel very odd using protection... as you say aandr could have been dislodged by sex Blush

babypops i too didnt feel a connection as such. This would have been my 2nd DC , but 1st with new OH and he was already touching and kissing my belly button ( so the wrong place bless him) and he was so excited it by it all but i cant honsetly say i felt a connection.... With my DD i didnt find out i was preggers till i ws 13 weeks so i had no idea about that one either ....

Collie2 · 11/02/2011 15:33

See MumTum i really am clueless and learning too! I wouldn't diasgree with Mummya and AandR as they always seem to be right, and it makes sense. I know the wait feels like forever, mine came on tuesday after 43 days. I feel like a weight has been lifted.

I know what you mean about working from home. I wfh alot last week and was having a real low week so it made concentrating impossible.

mummya i am really sorry you'll be leaving us, but i understand as i am sure all us newbies asking the same old questions is highly annoying and I know its harder for us to offer you the reassurances you need.

I hope you will still lurk though and pop back, as you can see from my way of the mark advice to Mumtum, we'll be a bit lost without your wise advice!

Maybe i'll come over every now ad then and lurk on the other thread.

Good luck muumya with the ttc and everything else. I hope you get your BFP soon and i hope you continue to work things out with your DH.

((BIG BIG HUG)) xxxxx

mummyabroad · 11/02/2011 15:59
