Ok ladies, here's the new thread, let's hope it's a lucky one!

I'm not too happy, had to cancel hsg because of awful snow :(
Will rearrange next month but think I'm gonna try and just enjoy my Christmas now.
Merry Christmas ladies. Xxx

Fingerscrossed1 · 20/12/2010 17:01

Slowshow I also have no good advice but I think you are certainly right when you say that when he has that baby in his arms things will be completely different. A very close friend experienced the same thing and he now wants baby number 2 Smile

I also could do with some advice; I have now been feeling queasy pretty much solidly for a week. Not so that I actually feel I could be sick but I just feel ?off? and I don?t feel hungry during the day and the thought of alcohol is really not appealing to me and believe me that is NOT like me!

It?s probably something completely different but I just wish there was some way of knowing one way or the other ? especially because of Christmas and the alcohol predicament (if I find that suddenly I fancy it). Am I right in thinking that pregnancy tests wouldn?t work yet? I ovulated around 9 days ago. I did read somewhere that doctors can take a blood test around 10 days after ovulation but feel perhaps this would be taking it too far? Does anyone have any words of wisdom ? I?ve obsessed to the point of having a phantom pregnancy haven?t I? Confused

ToriaPumpkinHead · 20/12/2010 17:06

Sorry to hear that Cookie have a lovely Christmas.

Fingerscrossed that all sounds very positive! From 10-11 days you can sometimes get a reliable result from a First Response test (or an internet cheapie 10miu test) When's ERTD due?

Hello ladies,

Sorry I have been absent for so long, been a busy bunny with Christmas parties, poorliness and such like. All better now thankfully although I feel some actual blood developing in my alcohol system! Grin

I shall try to catch up as much as I can so here goes!

cookie sorry you had to cancel hsg, I can understand how disappointed you must feel but try to put it to the back of your mind and enjoy a frivolous Crimbo!

hello weimy welcome to the mad house - you wont meet a nicer bunch of birds than in the three follicles - hope you have a short stay in the nicest possible way!

slow we've had this problem a few times, DP has not been able to finish and lost it half way through, he then got paranoid about it happening again so it DID happen again after which you end up in a horrible cycle. TTC is a very different ball game for men than what it is for women as Toria says above, they don't always see it as trying so don't understand what it is to get frustrated every month. Like I say we've had similar problems in the past, exactly the same as you but I wont go into it now. PM me if you like hun xx

toria - chocolate cake, I am very impressed! I made a cake once, DP declared it disgusting and asked me not to do it ever again so I didn't Sad

cavey I'm with you on SCD, I was very disappointed with Len's '7' for her last dance though. She is not the professional choreographing the routine but what she was told to do she did perfectly so she should have got a 10. ggrrrrr Len!!! Angry

sorry to hear about ERTD Alien but get drinking and eat loads of blue stinky cheese over the festive period xx

Josie your boss sounds like a knob. Let me know when you go in with the kipper, I will be behind you with a full on great big salmon to wallop her with. Hope you feel a bit perkier soon x

Sorry to hear about the puppy tomboy. You are very brave taking on another puppy, isn't it a bit like having children apparently?! They are lovely though and your dog will love the company.

Garden are you there? Any news? xx

Well there is obviously no news from me, I am CD10 and no SWI as yet, DP has been a poorly bunny so not really with it so far this month. I am feeling very flabby at the moment even though I've not put on any weight, I'm going to try my LBD again tonight because I am so worried it might not fit - if it doesn't DP will go mad because he's been warning me that the mince pies will make me paranoid about my dress!!! eek. I also had my hair trimmed after work and my hair dresser arrived after me, came running through and took off her jacket right in my face to reveal a very neat 4 and a half month along baby bump. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry - that really is 'rubbing your face in it'. She got married 4 and a half months ago and she said they always planned a 'honeymoon' baby. WTF, how do people do it!!! Honestly. I'm not bitter about the whole, 'well we just went for it attitude', I'm just amazed that it happens so easily for some people, given especially that on the second day of their honeymoon he burned so badly he couldn't move for the rest of the holiday! Something must have been moving anyway!! Confused

I've also decided to leave it a few months to go to the docs in the New Year. I was going to go straight after Christmas but now I think I might just discretely use the CBFM for a few months and see how I get on, that way I know I've done everything I can first and to be honest I suspect they will say to keep trying for another six months then come back sooooooo.....I may as well just leave it a little while. The stress of not getting pregnant has been getting to me a bit despite it only being six months. I think I just seem to know quite a few people for whom it happens to in a heartbeat and although I am very happen for them I just don't understand why it hasn't happened for us. I think I need to just chill out and enjoy life as it is at the moment.

And on that note, I am off to try and warm up! I am so so cold. We have about 4 inches of snow outside so not so bad here but enough to be causing chaos as it has fallen very quickly. ttfn frolickers xx

zippys · 20/12/2010 20:40

Hi my lovely girlies. I had hoped to come back to loads if bfp's. Maybe there will be loads over Xmas. No ttc news from me still no bfp but obviously still trying. We have set a date for the wedding - feb 2012 so hope that will take mind off it and result in a bfp!!

Anyway massive merry Christmas to everyone.

weimy · 20/12/2010 20:40

Hi Tomboy

Just reading through the thread and saw that you wanted a pup for your older dog. I have a nine year old, a five year old and now an 8 month old. The people we got the pup from were fine about us having other dogs:( . I was worried about introducing a new pup both times but just made sure that I kept an eye on them for the first few weeks. We had a crate for the pup so the older ones weren't bothered by the pup when we went out. They did and do bicker at times but you just have to be pack leader. It is great to see them all snuggling and playing. So anyway goodluck with the hunt, I am sure you will find the perfect pup!

I guess my big issue if I do get pregnant is how to manage it all with three large and crazy dogs Hmm

womanlytales · 20/12/2010 22:07

Woo hoo zippy on the Feb date. Congrats. Also gd job garden in resisting :) am keeping everything crossed for u

gardenpixie · 21/12/2010 09:08

Hello everyone, sorry for not being around yesterday, I had the start of a migraine so needed to stay away from computer and TV screens (how boring!) but am feeling a bit better now.

I didn't POAS yesterday as I am pretty sure ERTD is about to kick in. Spotting started Sunday night so I think this month is a write off.

Oddly I'm not as crushed as usual but I think that's because of the possibility of IVF in a couple of months so am holding out for that really.

Sorry to run, will catch up with everyone later, xxx

JosieSmith1 · 21/12/2010 09:44

Oh Garden, sorry you think ERTD is arriving. Hope your head is better now, DH has terrible migraines, I know how much they can incapacitate you

Zippy that's fab about your wedding, sorry no bfp yet but look forward to wedding news!

Weimy my dog's 14 now and very much dislikes other dogs, hates puppies! I have to watch her with any dog as she's very snappy and doesn't suffer fools gladly. She's got in that if they leave her alone she's leave them, but puppies tend to be in hr face and all over her and she soon puts them in their place! Xmas Blush You'll probably worry about managing baby and dogs but I bet you cope just fine when it actually happens, I believe you're only dealt what you can deal with [philosophical emoticon] Xmas Grin

Raspberry hope your LBD fits! Leave those pies alone! Sorry about hairdresser, I was warned mine was pg but she didn't look it (baggy tops), then the last time I saw her she had an obvious bump Xmas Sad

Feeling a tad better, had supervision yesterday and although I didn't broach the subject with my manager, she asked why I'd had a bad weekend and I burst into tears! Xmas Blush She was very supportive and said I could talk to her about anything so I'm putting thursday down to a bad day (I think she's having some issues with her DH) and will see if things get better. So far they have and I'm feeling a bit happier thanks to everyone who offered to kipper her Xmas Grin

Fingerscrossed1 · 21/12/2010 12:05

Really glad your feeling better about work josie Smile

weimy · 21/12/2010 13:53

Thanks josie! x

ToriaPumpkinHead · 21/12/2010 13:54

Afternoon ladies.

Raspberry I'm from good Yorkshire stock so baking was beaten into me from an early age. Still only manage to make every second or third sponge rise properly though!

Congrats on setting your date Zippys Xmas Grin

Sorry you think ERTD is coming Garden Good on you for staying positive.

Glad you're feeling better about work Josie Hope this is the start of avery healthy working relationship!

No news from me, a bit odd not to be at reflex today but not feeling like I need it so guess that's good. have just sorted out all my Christmas food shop so am now going to curl up and keep warm for a bit and ignore the outside world. My aunt and younger cousins are coming over in a bit but til then the house is all mine!

Have some achy stomach pains today but think that's more to do with the two cans of Diet Coke I drank with my lunch than anything interesting. Gosh being sensible is boring! Am resisting stick peeing as hanging onto the possibility that I ovulated on Friday as it's the most positive sign I've had of it for a couple of months.

OP posts:
Truffkin · 21/12/2010 14:36

Hi Frolickers, I'm going to catch up with as many people as I can as I've not been around for a few days. I will caveat this by saying that ERTD arrived this morning. 5 days early, heavier than normal and I have pains / cramps, which I have never (yes never, how is this possible? maybe because my periods are always so light) had before. I really feel for you ladies who have this every month, I'm mainlining Nurofen. I am feeling very, very Sad but am determined to perk myself up by the end of the week and enjoy a very drunken Christmas. Am actually glad it's early so I can hopefully get the moping over with before Friday so long as it buggers off as quickly as normal (keep your fingers crossed for me ladies!)

Slow I'm sorry to hear about your worries around TTC. I think on the whole men are less clued up on what has to happen to actually get pregnant. I will admit to not really getting the whole 'small window of opportunity' when we originally ditched the contraceptives. I've shared info with my DH and I do temp, but he doesn't really get what it's all about. Could you chat to your DH and ask him how he wants to play it from now on? Maybe if you stop temping (if you have a good idea of your cycle and can track OV by CM alone) this might help him to feel more chilled. That way you could instigate sex without him feeling he is having to perform. If you only have sex during your fertile period then it might make him feel more under pressure so could you make a conscious effort to instigate sex on other days to help with this? Hope you can work through this with your DH and both feel happier about it.

Toria I am very impressed with your efficient shopping, baking and cleaning extravaganza. Quite the domestic goddess! I on the other hand still have ALL of my presents to wrap as well as buying a few of them. I attepmted to make a Yule Log on Sunday but it did not go well so we ended up having chocolate fudgey mess! It tasted good but looked a state.

Welcome Weimy and hope you are already feeling at home. I'll second (or fifth?!) the assertion that you will find some great TTCers here, funny and supportive ladies.

Cookie sorry you had to cancel the HCG but hope you can get another appointment soon. At least you have Christmas to take your mind off it and enjoy some festive times.

Raspberry your story about the hairdresser made me laugh. I can just imagine her sticking that neat little bump in your face and you turning green! I'm hoping that spending the whole of Christmas day with my pregnant SIL and her 2 existing cute kids is something I can deal with and avoid any weeping moments. I intend to get very drunk so this may cause weeping, but DH will be primed to help me through it. Oh I'm so dramatic!

Zippy so great to hear from you and how exciting about setting a wedding date! Hope the planning is good fun, am looking forward to hearing about it as I'm a bit of a wedding nut.

Garden sorry you think ERTD is coming but I am inspired by your attitude and will be borrowing some of your positive vibes!

Josie great news about your meeting with your line manager. Sounds like she is human after all and you can hopefully work things out with her. Great news.

pixiestix · 21/12/2010 17:53

Just barging in from the Postnatal Frolickers thread to give a huge wet kiss to Zippys. Fab news about the wedding!! Hopefully the BFP will follow along very shortly and you can waddle down the aisle with a huge bump! xxx

Good luck to everyone POAS over Christmas Xmas Smile

slowshow · 21/12/2010 20:32

Thanks everyone for tolerating my drama yesterday and saying such nice things. I?m going to have to try really hard to shut my mouth when it comes to temping and ovulation tests. I spoke to him last night and he reassured me that he really does want a baby, he just doesn?t want us to get neurotic about TTC. I should probably remind him that neurotic is my middle name. I'm too much of a control freak to give up my thermometer and peeing in ramekins, so I will carry on, but I'll keep it to myself Wink

Hey Truffkin, an early uber painful period really sucks. I know how glum you must feel, but Christmas drinking will make it aaaaall worth it. If you want to avoid drunken weepiness, avoid gin Grin

Hope your hunch about a Friday ovulation is right Toria!

Glad you?re feeling positive despite (possible) impending ERTD garden

I had to laugh at your ?something must have been moving? raspberry I totally, totally understand how you feel though. One of the Mr?s schoolfriends has just announced a pregnancy and they got married 6 weeks before us. I am unashamedly green.

Have you taken a test yet fingerscrossed?

Hello and welcome weimy

Hello and apologies to anyone I?ve forgotten Grin

JosieSmith1 · 21/12/2010 20:56

Evening all

SlowShow sorry I couldn't help your problem but really glad you've got it all sorted Xmas Smile

Just wondering if anyone can help me with a conundrum Xmas Grin I'm trying to rack my brains and think of some meals I can freeze as me and DH have a terrible diet and I have to improve it, but I'm out of the house so much I don't have a lot of time or energy for cooking when I get home, and I'm a very very fussy eater Xmas Blush. So far I have lasagne (quorn as I can't eat mince, not veggie, just can't stand it!) and that's about it Xmas GrinXmas Blush, really have no clue! I was thinking about making a bolognese sauce to quickly stir up a pasta one night but can't find any decent recipes (and I would have to blend everything as I don't do chunks either Xmas Blush)

Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

Thanks everyone for your support when I had a mini break down last week Xmas Blush, all much better today and I'm feeling much more my normal self.

Had xmas lunch today and it was gorgeous, we all bring a little something in and it ends up a great spread, loved it and felt part of the team again

ToriaPumpkinHead · 21/12/2010 21:01

Thanks Slow I was thinking about it earlier actually and if I do ovulate that late then it would explain my temps being off, and when I went back to look at my old charts I recorded possibly fertile CM around those dates every month, but never did anything about it, so fingers crossed that was the problem and the Christmas party shag cape antics have done the trick Xmas Grin

Glad your OH was reassuring, hope he comes back around soon and you can get back on the sercretly neurotic and on the surface zen TTC wagon Xmas Grin

Truff Sorry to hear about your rubbish heavy ERTD, if it makes you feel any better heavier flow is a good sign in the long run as it means you're building up a good sized endometrium. In the meantime just mainline some ibuprofen and avoid gin and bacardi hug

I made a Yule Log today, it's a bit lopsided, and the icing is a bit buttery as I think I got the quantities wrong, but it's damn good. Think everyone who has a slice is at risk of a major coronary though!

OP posts:
TigerseyeMum · 21/12/2010 21:17

Truffkin sorry about FERTD, sounds painful. Having endo I know how horrible a heavy period can be. Hot water bottles are a godsend, if a little old fashioned.

I am still poorly. Ah well. Nearly Christmas.

ToriaPumpkinHead · 21/12/2010 21:39

Tiger I opened the first box of Christmas wine tonight. I'll leave a few glasses here for the old "kill or cure" method of treatment x

OP posts:
TigerseyeMum · 21/12/2010 21:41

Thanks Toria I am traumatised at having lost my bottle of Baileys so any alcohol is welcome Grin

ToriaPumpkinHead · 21/12/2010 21:50

Oh I've got loads of Baileys. After the shop fire I mentioned last month my parents cleared the ground floor and found several cases of booze that were undamaged. The majority of it is sitting in my conservatory Xmas Grin If you were anywhere near me I'd invite you over to help me dispose of it all!

OP posts:
TigerseyeMum · 21/12/2010 22:03

Grin Accidental shop fire, you say Toria? Leaving you with a few cases of booze? Hmm

I'd love to join you. Though you would not want my bugs! After reading the thread on MN I am going to take the plunge and get my flu jab done. I think I have swine flu now, and I feel feckin awful, so if I get pg I don't want it again. I get mine through my job as I work in healthcare. I just hate needles Shock

I am going to go to bed. Nightie all :)

ToriaPumpkinHead · 21/12/2010 22:26

Sweet dreams Tiger! Hope it's not the dreaded swine flu and that you manage the needle alright (I'm rubbish at them as well, despite having tattoos and piercings, I maintain they're different)

OP posts:
JosieSmith1 · 22/12/2010 09:02

TigersEye hope you feel better soon and manage the needle ok

Toria I maintain they're different too - though I can manage tattoos but not piercings anymore

I have the lurgy today too. Could feel it niggling my throat yesterday but last night it got worse so I've been up most of the night and now I feel soooo ill. My head is banging and my throat is scratchy and I'm knackered. Booo [feel sorry for self emoticon] Xmas Grin
