Planning ahead!

Is it just me who's planning ahead before she's even ttc? I've decided to come off the pill at the end of December and have started to drink decaf (v. difficult!), eat more fruit and veg, cut down on the vino etc. Am I mad to plan this far ahead?

HI Kleggie, welcome, also on a count down!!!!

This will be my second, dummys are amazing for grizzly babies!! It means they sleep for longer, a god send I would say. Unfortunatley a lot of my pre baby principals went out the window with the practicalities of child care!!

Artoo · 23/09/2005 09:14

Hiya kleggie, and welcome It took 10 weeks for my smear test results to come back, it sounds like you've planned your timings better than I (I thought I'd start ttc right after my smear, so the 2 month wait was agonising!).

I'm not sure about dummies. You do see kids who don't have dummies tend to suck their thumbs or fingers, and as one person said to me "at least you can take the dummy away when they're too old for it", harder to take their thumb away lol.

Hugs,
Artoo.

Hello Jersey, Muppet, Decaf and Artoo,

You're right about planning Artoo. I've been planning everything down to the last detail and I haven't even conceived yet. I don't think poor ol dh knows what he's let himself in for!! At the moment I'm debating whether to try and conceive at the right time and eat the right stuff to have a boy first. I kinda get the feeling that I'm focussing on the little things too much. Am I the only non-pregnant woman to have read everything going, watched all the programmes, asked every mother I know for advice? I'm not usually this rigid in any area of my life. I think nerves are getting the better of me.

Anyway, best of luck, stay in touch all

love
Kleg

Welcome Spod and Loubag to the scarily organised people thread

Hugs,
Artoo.

muppet3 · 24/09/2005 15:03

Hi guys - scarily organised people unite! I've been reading everything I could lay my hands on for months - and spending far more time on mumsnet than a non-pregnant not-yet-mum should do. Anyway, ttc as of now and pretty nervous to be honest. But still, here's hoping for some good news soon Off on hols for two weeks tomorrow. No idea what cycle is as only just off pill, so wish me luck. Good luck Artoo

Artoo · 25/09/2005 08:00

Good luck to you too muppet3! Have a lovely holiday

Hugs,
Artoo.

scrobble · 25/09/2005 17:28

We've done the same as you, decafgirl - cut out all booze and caffeine (both me and dh) but so far no joy since Feb when we started! Will maybe start charting etc. if no luck this month as I'm getting impatient! We already do the ovulation kits and have been going on doctor's advice, but dh was doing some internet research and found that somewhere suggested about 6 days before ovulation is the best time to start going for it, not just when you get the LH surge like the sticks show, so will try that! Wee sticks are a pain for me cos I find it a real challenge to go 4 hours without going to the loo!
There's a company called LoNo on the internet who do quite nice non-alcoholic wines if anyone's missing them - just google for it - we get a lot of the Ariel ones.

Good luck to everyone trying btw!

decafgirl · 25/09/2005 19:34

Hi everyone! Wow, so many new people, this is great - I finally know I'm not the only mad, planning ahead one out there! (Hoorah!)

I have definately done all the programs, books and paying attention to new mums in a 'special, just interested kind of way' so's not to arrouse suspicions in anyone. I couldn't bear all the 'any luck with the baby yet?' questions. Aagghh!

Artoo, I've got my fingers crossed for you, I hope you're lucky enough first time round but if not hey, at least we get to keep you on this thread for a little longer!

Jersey, glad you had a good hol, now you're all chilled out and AF has been (and gone) you can get started (sorry, tried not to be so blunt but couldn't find a better way to put it!) it's all so exciting!

A warm welcome to kleggie, loubag, spod and scrobble, it's nice to be among like minded people (my dh thinks I've gone a little soft in the head!)

Hope to hear from you all again soon xxx

Too true! I started another thread over on the pregnancy side about whether or not people try for a xmas baby (I thought it would be a nightmare being stuck in hospital over the festive period) I got a lot of feedback needless to say! I think me and dh will just keep trying coz I so want it to happen for us!

H everyone, we are growing! Welcome to loubag, spod and scrobble.

I have cutback on the booze, although with a 14mth old, etc. don't drink much now adays anyway!! You soon learn that getting up in the night, and early mornings with a baby and getting pissed don't go together!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Started the pregnacare vitamins this weekend. Not starting till nov decafgirl so one more month . I just hope it happens as quick the second time as it did the first.

Hi Spod looks like we are in the same boat, fingers crossed for us! Going to try temping again this time as it worked for me last time.

Sorry long message I don't get on here at the weekend.

Artoo · 26/09/2005 09:01

Just a quick update - I've noticed spotting this morning, which may or may not be AF on her way. It may also be a sign of implantation, so I'm watching what's happening today and taking it all as it comes.

Hugs,
Artoo.

jersey · 26/09/2005 09:58

Fingers crossed Artoo xxxxx

Artoo · 27/09/2005 07:09

Nope, it's definitely AF, and my suspicions now are that I have a problem with my luteal phase - it's looking like it's about 6 days, which is too short for me to be able to get pregnant.

So I now have a whole load more reading to do.

Hugs,
Artoo.

jersey · 27/09/2005 08:32

Artoo, sorry but what is a luteal phase?
