I've started a new thread!

OP posts:
hippychick66 · 07/10/2010 15:57

I don't know about flu jabs to be honest. I was warned off the swine flu jab during pregnancy but at the moment I don't have to make that decision.

I guess if you did a test and were sure you were not preggers then a flu jab would be ok.

Also, the doctor said my youngest needs a flu jab becasue he is asthmatic and my doc said something about the flu jab including swine flu now?????? I should have paid mroe attention! I'll ask when he goes for the jab.

My DS1 said the head teacher asked to speak to him today (because she knows Mr & Mrs Hippy are coming in tomorrow!). She was accusing my son of shoving this boy first and said that's why it happened. funny how the sorry letter the stupid boy wrote to my son says "Sorry I hurt your neck master Hippy, I was annoyed because (insert other childs name) was taking the mickey out of me." So that is proof of why he did it and we will be producing it as exhibit A tomorrow. Angry.

My son said he did shove the boy but not until after he was released and got up off the floor. Considering this boy has attacked him from behind twice now, I don't see the harm in shoving him away - I wish i could bloody shove him and get away with it Hmm.

It's crap when people mess with your kids isn't it?

Curlylox · 07/10/2010 16:40

hippy re your DS I know how you feel but won't advise as I would feel like you do "wanting to shove the boy back". Not that I ever would mind. Let us know how you get on tomorrow after your meeting.

randomimposter · 07/10/2010 21:00

Hi all.

Had a lovely day with DS today - petting farm, scooter track, station for train-spotting, then met a friend and DS best friend for a new soft play venue. Really lovely. Great day, smashing weather, DS behaved really well (melt down at bath time, but over v quick, and otherwise listened and responded really well).

And then logged on to find one of the lovelies on the MC thread who's had horrible luck and times has MC again (#4 Angry). Really feel for her.

Hope everyone else ok - Hippy sorry to hear about your DS... gosh I have all that to come Confused. Am up your way at the weekend - family in Rickmansworth.

welcome back gum; so pleased you had a great hols.

Diege · 07/10/2010 22:07

Oh wow curly cd 52 Shock. You know I thought you'd say cd 7 or something and I could say with hand on heart, oh come on it's too early!!!! I'm good, thanks for asking, though I'll admit to having a ttc wavers today - not sure why, just a few doubts creeping in...sure come ov time they will resolve themselves Smile
Hippy good luck for tomorrow besser x The girls who bullied my dd, age 4, pushing her glasses into her face until the lens broke Angry tried a similar squirming out of it thing but lukcily the head teacher saw through them. I'm sure all will be well, but may be worth jotting a few things down to glance out if you feel you're in danger of losing your cool (I always do this in pressured situations, though don't often have to look at it).
Jollster that does sound a lovely day; perfect infact. That's sad about the woman with mc no.4 - how cruel Sad
Right, bed beckons! I've turned the snug fire down, just a little flame there for Sassy so she knows we're still here for her!

Italiangreyhound · 08/10/2010 00:37

Hippy Angry about the situation with DS1 at school. It sounds like this kid has a big problem. The school has a choice of tackling the problem or trying to pass the blame onto the other kids involved, wonder what they will do! Keep us posted (I thinking making a fuss sometimes gets results, I am a believer in when in doubt shout! And actually you may be making a fuss on behalf of any other kids this child will thump in the future!).

Gum welcome back.

Diege where did you go for three days? Nosy me! Wink. The treatment of your DD sounds terrible. I am always horrified at the way kids can act and I am very cross that sometimes adults let them get away with it! My friend little boy went a bit mad at her recently, hitting and kicking her and I was really horrified that she did not react more quickly and more crossly! But then I don?t know the full story, he has had a tough time of it! But bullying is something even worse because kids are more vulnerable than adults. Hope your DD is fine now.

TFLS how?s it going? Breast feeding is not easy but once it works it is fab, hope you get some help.

Curllox sorry to hear about the sore nipples. Personally, I would stop trying to conceive for a month and get the flu jab and then start trying again. Basically, I got the jab last autumn before our last lot of treatment. I think they say that it is safe to get during pregnancy but personally I would rather not be pregnant when I get it/got it! It?s totally up to you and maybe best to ask doc but if you are not pregnant now and you are trying I do think it is worth having (but do check with doc first!). By the way, what does CD52 mean? 52 days after period? So what does cd mean?

I have gone dairy-free for a week to see if the milk is causing my bloating.

You guys must read the Inconceivable book, it is so good.

Italiangreyhound · 08/10/2010 01:23

Hey guys look at this

Curlylox · 08/10/2010 11:13

Italian you're up so late is that usual for you or couldn't you sleep Smile? Mind you I can talk there are some nights I've been up until 1am catching up on some programmes. CD means cycle day I believe and yes it's now 53 days since my last period Shock but there is an explanation for that. I had nerve root injections in my lower back on the 10th September and Af was due 14th. Hospital did a pregnancy test just before my proceedure it was negative. Consultant confirmed injections alter menstrual cycle for 2 cycles. He was apologetic, bless him as he knows we're ttc. Sorry for repeating info as have posted these details in a much earlier post and don't want to bore anyone.

hippychick66 · 08/10/2010 11:44

curly you're not boring us you silly thing. I would be tearing my hair out if I was on CD 53 - you poor thing. Smile

italian I would not want 5 babies!!!! That sperm doner certainly has super sperm!!! Grin

We went to see the head teacher this morning and it was a very productive meeting. I did not get angry or emotional Grin So AF is over for sure. The teacher was dead nice, she said she was never trying to blame our DS but just trying to get the full picture. She also says they are working with the boy and his parents to resolve the situation. I even managed to say that 'i didn't want to be the next person to recieve a call to say that the paramedics were working on my son' without getting all tearful and emotional, which i was sooo pleased about - i hate looking like a numpty in these situations.

We'll see how it pans out. DS1's back was hurting today and it seems to be were the boy twisted him as he threw him to the floor AngryAngry - the other mother (whose son was really hurt) is being ever so nieve nice about the whole thing and has told her son he should make up with the thug. I have told mine to stay well clear.

jolls Rickmansworth is fairly near to me, I'll look out for you Grin. Sounds like a nice day with your lad. I will have to go over to the MC thread and see who it is who has had such bad news - life can be so shitty can't it?

hippychick66 · 08/10/2010 11:45

I was meant to be crossing out the word nieve but turned it into italics by accident - but you get the idea.

Curlylox · 08/10/2010 11:55

I'm glad that the meeting turned out ok for you hippy and I would be doing the same as you and be warning my DC to stay away from this thug boy.

hippychick66 · 08/10/2010 12:04

jolly - I had a look and saw it was Barrenbrook. I had a bad feeling when she was saying that the bloody devil stick told her she was still 1-2 weeks. That's what i had when i lost the last one at 7 weeks. I will never buy those feckin' things again.

i'm guessing she doesn't have any DC's already and just feel so sad for her. To have got the much coveted BFP 4 times and lost them all early.

TTC is a bit pants isn't it Sad

diege I meant to say sorry you were having a bit of a wobble about TTC. I know how you feel, I get those as well but then i get egg whites and I think, "This will be the month!"

I hope you feel more positive soon - bezzer Smile.

muchlove · 08/10/2010 12:37

Hey lovlies

HIPPY sounds like a productive meeting with 'da head' .... I am usually the person who tries to stay calm and in control then the minute I walk in the heads/doctors/any office really I start crying Shock and feel such an idot !!!

Oh CURLY hope AF shows for you soon so you can get on with it how flippin frustrating...

DIEGE Feel the selfsameway as you with the TTC.... and even though I'm in NO MANS LAND at the mo there was a time there on my hols when I was caring abut my figure and clothes and looking cool sexy ..... maybe it was the turning point (if this doesn't work out)then I can find the strength to move on ????? maybe ?????

JOLLS How did your'e appt go at docs ?

xx

Diege · 08/10/2010 13:16

Hello! So glad the meeting went well Hippy. I too would be making sure my ds steered clear of the thug!
Italian my 3 day absence was simply time related due to manic work I'm afraid. Everything at work tends to be squeezed into mon-wed for me, so fully expect my postings to be end of the week heavy Grin I would loved to have said it was a glam city break in Barcelona that caused by absence. Oh and yes dd1 fine now, thoiugh she still points to 'Bethany' when we see her outside her house..
Jolls, I know Rickmansworth too! Was there the month before I got pregnant with dd1, doing some mad trial at a lake on a kayek for the GB dragonboat team. I ended up as the cox/drummerGrin.
Curly really hope af comes soon. If 2 cycles are messed up, does that mean 60 days or so and cycle 3 will start, or is it not as simple as that? Confused
I'm glad it's not just me who gets the odd ttc wobble. Muchlove I know what you mean about moving on etc, and at some point I think I will accept how lucky and fortunate I've been. However, as Hippy says, the egg white commeth and it's game on Grin. Dh actually raised doubts last night about having another, which made me both sad and a little irritated (I'm not sure why). I responded with the usual rationale about a sibling closer in age for ds, which seemed to have been accepted. I think I'll give it another 2 years or so then hang up my boots!

rowingboat · 08/10/2010 14:04

Hi all,

popping in to say hi.

Gum I'm glad to hear you had a good holiday. How is Charlie getting on these days? Playing the violin yet or any prodigy-type behaviour?

Deige woo'oo! Your poor DD having her glasses squished, and even worse, on her face. You must have been really shaken.

Italian, I'm always up late. Grin

Hippy do you have other children at the same school as your DS, or other bigger children who will keep an eye out for him?
Sounds like a nightmare, but well done for keeping it together with the head teacher! I would probably have burst into tears and hyper-ventilated and then fainted (well burst into tears anyway).

Jolls that sounds like a lovely day, I didn't realise you were into trainspotting! We must meet up at a station with our notepads one day! Grin (not really though)

Curly I remember that pregnant women were encouraged to have the swine flu jab, but can't remember if the normal flu jab was recommended.
You could always check with your GP and explain you are TTC. Don't want to tempt fate, but I haven't had flu for years, perhaps it depends on whether you are exposed to a high-risk group, where you might contract flu?

Muchlove, I do admit to wondering if I will be able fit into clothes if I am successful with the embryo transfer. It is nice to be able to think about not wearing 'mum' stuff.

So I went for my smear and blood tests and found out it was next week. Doh! So now they have re-organised the tests, but they are on different days at different times. Next week's looking a bit like a sitting in waiting rooms kind of week. Shock Smile

10000fireflies · 08/10/2010 16:48

Hey girls! Happy Friday!! Sorry, was off-line for a few days - had a bit of a holiday in Italy - and OMG it has taken a bit of time to catch up with everything I've missed. Brought you back some Prosecco - is in the freezer if anyone fancies celebrating the start of the weekend? Not sure if TTC post 40 and alcohol is a good combo, esp as 1day DPO and we even managed to do some BD this time, but hey.... See you on the patio while the sun's still shining?

Diege · 08/10/2010 17:17

Hi Rowing; that's a pain about your test mix-up. Was it the clinic's mistake?
fireflies save a seat on he patio for me please - I'll get the bistro menu out for us all again Grin. I fancy Vegetable chop suey tonight with spring rolls. I think it will be beans on toast though looking at the cupboards..
Just spent £52.71 on Marilyn Glenville vits Shock. I hadn't noticed the sneaky £8 VAT add on before - may try Zita West's next time as they are a tad cheaper? I have noticed though that she's introduced a new fertility plus type supplement though for those having trouble conceiving that would double the price as you have both that and the regular ones...I have a horrible feeling that the 40 folic acid for £1.98 in Boots would do just as well Hmm
Hope everyone is ok. Dh is hinting about a SWOI tonight Shock. He really is pushing his luck as it's only cd 7.

10000fireflies · 08/10/2010 17:30

I got us a table with a heater. :-) Where do you get the vits from?

Diege · 08/10/2010 18:04

Ooh yes, heater's essential Fireflies, thanks Grin.
Vits are from the Natural Health Practice (online site). I read her book after my mmc in 2008, took the vits, cut out the crap and was pregnant a month later. I kept taking them on and off since, though when pregnant with ds brought them up instantaneously Blush
Right, our waiter has just arrived so I need orders please!!!

AlbaDeTamble · 08/10/2010 18:35

Ooooh, can I have a baked Camembert and a large glass of Shiraz please Diege

Hope you don't mind me joining you but sounds like the perfect spot to be for the evening. Waves to all

Diege · 08/10/2010 18:41

Ooooh getting a bit sophisticated for me Alba but I'll try my best - would dairylea on toast be an acceptable second? Chiraz fine, natch. How are things?

10000fireflies · 08/10/2010 18:46

Mmmm. Think I'll go for the prawn green Thai curry Diege. Thanks for the tips too. Struggling not to crack open the Prosecco!

AlbaDeTamble · 08/10/2010 18:57

Should really bring some useful info with me too, shouldn't I... Have been buying Zita vits direct but got last lot from here and looks like they still have 15% off...

Maybe I'm just being ripped off as they are incredibly expensive, but I like to think they help Hmm?

AlbaDeTamble · 08/10/2010 19:04

Not trying to be sophisticated... Just the only way I can indulge in both those right now is virtually.... Please just indulge me and pretend it's a breeze?? [begging emoticon]

muchlove · 08/10/2010 19:58

Alrighty can I please have :

Olives and mixed bread to start
Seabass (grilled) with seasonal veg and hand cut chips
A nice crisp (really cold) Chablis

Some nice chilled-out bar sounds

Oh yeah and a tent-style top so I can let me gut 4 kids potbelly hangout Grin

DIEGE is that a 2 month supply for the womens fertility ones ? I don't buy the Omega and Vit C from there anymore coz it was all too much..... I just get the womens fert and buy the other stuff from (healthspan.co.uk) but I just ordered a 2 month supply from MG and don't know if they have changed them but they have a very strange smell that Iv'e not noticed before ???? Weird .......
I've been taking Pycnogenol(an antioxidant)which is suppose to be good aswell also purchased from the above site.........

xx

Diege · 08/10/2010 20:09

Ok, ok, bread on the table, camembert on its way, ditto sea bass In a life imitating art way dh has actually gone to get me chicken chop suey, though he has an ulterior motive Hmm
muchlove I also have one of those bellies!Re; vits, I got the fertility plus and the omega ones - I like the peppermint flavour when they repeat on you Blush, and am always a bit worried that regular omegas might not be right when ttc-ing after a woman from Holland and Barrat scared me off Blush. I also take agnus castus, but wasn't tempted by MG ones what with them being double the price. Oh and my fertlity plus ones always taste odd - maybe it's a preg symtom if you've found a change? Grin
Oh and thanks for the website link Alba - I see Zita also does cheaper supplements for the masses
Off to do the bottles before second Corrie - poor Jack! Sad (after I've sorted the orders of course!)
