Kids go back to school in August? Man I am pleased I'm not a kid these days...!
Good luck with trying not to drink - maybe just go to the bar a lot and get lime & soda - pretend it has vodka in :)
x

Toriajayne · 13/08/2010 15:59

highheels I've done the Club Noir night in Edinburgh a few times and absolutely loved it, very jealous! DH is also back to school on Monday, can't believe how quickly the weeks have gone this year...

gardenpixie · 13/08/2010 16:07

Highheels the lime and soda trick is a good one - I've used it tons to keep my head together when I needed to get up early after a night out! After the first two or three, everyone else is tipsy so their powers of deduction aren't up to much...!

I heard that about implantation and booze too - something about alcohol reducing progesterone levels?

Crazy here's to hoping the bug is a pg precursor for all of us!

Lanky I am going to hold off testing until next Fri / Sat as I think I ovulated quite late this cycle so started the 2WW last Fri. REALLY not feeling anything pg wise so I am thoroughly expecting a BFN which is OK as at least I know I can start trying clomid once if FERTD arrives. Sadly I think the barfing and inability to stay awake for more than two minutes are not signs!

PMSL at the extended (.)(.)s GENIUS!

gardenpixie · 13/08/2010 16:08

Josie sorry you are feeling under the weather too - it's boooooo for a friday isn't it? x

gardenpixie · 13/08/2010 16:10

Also for all the teachers / teachers partners out there, I too am Shock that kids go back in August. When did that happen??? Obviously I went to school back in the 1820's when we needed all of July and August to help bring in the harvest ...

LankyLegs · 13/08/2010 16:23

Highheels hmmm difficult one. I spent months doing the same... ooh might be pregnant better come up with excuses not to drink! Its hard. But now I have given up and just drink. I trust Flicks judgement of the embryo not being able to absorb anything until the placenta develops. But don't listen to me! I drank a million pints of pear cider at the festival, 3 glasses of wine on weds and DH and I shared a bottle of wine at the theatre last nigh Shock I am SO not pregnant!

Your outfit and eyelashes sound fab!! Can't believe kids go back so early? Is that a Scottish thing?

Garden well done holding off POAS. You are doing the right thing - best to wait as long as possible.

F*ck me - this is going to be my 3rd night out in a row. I REALLY do not want to go out but I have to go and put on a nice smiley face for my sister's graduation dinner this evening. Bu I have checked - and the DO serve PORNSTAR cocktails! That should get me into the swing of things!

BTW - I am a total potty mouth - sorry about that Grin

Kaloki · 13/08/2010 16:35

MrsW That has just made my day! So so thrilled for you sweetheart! You deserve the good news!

zippys That dress is amazing! You must get that one!!

SO many exclamation marks today :)

oneof8 No boots/shoes yet, heading into Brighton next week to have a look around the Laines.

I'm feeling better, the thrush cream is great. Still cramping though, so my cervix still seems to be broken.

Been to the florist today, looks like we are having these roses in my bouquet, plus white orchids and thistles that have been spraypainted black.

womanlytales · 13/08/2010 16:39

:) Lanky - Enjoy your night out.

I am still horribly wobbly -- all FERTD symptoms playing out...jsut a question of when it arrives..and when I'll finally come to terms that this cycle was not for me!

LankyLegs · 13/08/2010 16:48

womanly I feel the same - we just have to remain positive and look to the future, but that does not mean we are not entitled to our wobbles Sad

I have to dash for my train but just wanted to say have a lovely weekend and hope FERTD doesn't arrive.

Have great Friday nights all!

Toriajayne · 13/08/2010 16:48

garden, the schools in England go back later than up here, my cousins are certainly all still on holiday for a few weeks, but they've had their six weeks up here now. Next year should be fub however, as they're getting eight weeks due to going back his week his year (someone tried to explain that to me last night but it just wasn't going in)

gardenpixie · 13/08/2010 17:05

Kaloki glad the thrush is getting better! The roses are GORGEOUS and the orchids and thistles just sound fabulous! I'm so excited for you! x

highheelsandequations · 13/08/2010 17:11

Maybe I should just say f*ck it and go mad on the bubbly, only 2-3 DPO so surely nothing too bad could happen, maybe if I am pg it'll give the baby a taste for it! Plus there are supposed to be cheap cocktails... Not sure how much liquid I'll actually manage to ingest in my new corset (had to slip that mention in here somewhere) anyway.

Yes the August term start is a Scottish thing, I'm still not used to it as I grew up South of the border, we do break up earlier but it's still horrible feeling like the summer's over in August.

Toria I've not been before but really looking forward to it. Very jealous of the 8 week holidays next year, don't think we have that :(

garden good for you for waiting to POAS, you are a stronger woman than me!

Lanky hope you have a good night and enjoy the cocktails. I've not really worried about the drinking since the first couple of months of trying, think the fact that this is my last clomid cycle (for now) has maybe just spooked me this month.

Happy Fridays to all. I have resisted the urge to go to the pub but I don't know how much willpower I will have when DP gets home and offers me a glass of wine. Hmm, just realised that at least half of my posts on here seem to involve alcohol, should I be concerned?

gardenpixie · 13/08/2010 17:45

Highheels don't be concerned - you'll have all the time in the world not to drink when you are pg so I reckon you should get some nice fizz in now! As you say, at 2 or 3 DP the egg and the swimmers are still only engaged in small talk, they are nowhere near setting up home together yet so go for it!

raspberrytipple · 13/08/2010 17:56

Congratulations Mrs Wajs!!

I dont have much to say today other than I dont feel very well and I am now on day 5 of cycle. I have pre-warned DP that we need to be SWI from next Tuesday every day for one whole week, he looks exhausted already bless him just at the thought of it! I shall just have to get inventive BIG Grin

Highheels - go for it, I am going to not change too much until I actually get a BFP otherwise Ill just get grumpy and that wont help anyone. My mates are all super-sensitive to people not drinking, we even start checking for kanckles if one mate doesn't have at least two whole bottles of wine when we go out....... been deceived one to many times to let them get away with it! Happy SWI girls x

Karstan · 13/08/2010 18:36

Congrats MrsWajs

Entering the final week of the 2ww now, the first week's always the hardest I find.

We were idly discussing names last night, I'm not sure I'll ever be able to decide, can't even come up with a list of possibles. I know it's early days (understatement of the year, no BFP yet!) but I thought it was good to think about these things before I get too hormonal Grin

SaorAlba · 13/08/2010 18:45

MrsWajs fantastic news!!!! Big hugs and congratulations for you both. I'm about 6 days ahead of you, but I reckon I'm not going to believe it until the first scan.

felicityFlick · 13/08/2010 19:47

Oh yipeee- not had a chance to get back since this morning. Oh mrsW I am just over the moon for you love Grin I too have virtual tears :) Please don't leave us just yet I am still mourning the loss of flo Wink xxxxxxxx

cave and zippy my post was not intentionally long, I had lots to catch up on as you had all been chatterboxes in my absence! OMG zips that dress is fabulous!!! I agree, you must get that one!

Glad you're feeling better kaloki- Lush flowers! So perfect for your wedding. Am so exciting.

lankyhardcorechickaswell BOOBLESS- I remember that very well! Thanks for my new name :) he he. The red eye indeed- it is a bit out of character for me to be quite so rock and roll oneof8 but I was meant to be back at work in HK on Thurs. My school gave me two days off so I could go to my oldest friend in the world's wedding which is tomorrow but I have to be back for school on Monday; because of the time difference there is no other way for me to get to work in time!! GREAT news on the flat :) very excited for you chick! Have a nice evening tonight- so funny that you checked to cocktail list before gracing the place with your presence!

highheels I say have a couple of drinks and echo the advice the others give above :)

crazythanks for all the wishes. I don't think I will test for a while... I ovulated on either day 19 or 20 and I am not sure how long my luteal phase is as FF was pin pointing my ovulation at day 14 which meant that I had a very long luteal phase of 18 days. Now, I am not sure how accurate FF has been as if I was ovulating later on day 19 or 20 as this month then my luteal phase would be 12 or 13 days which is much more 'normal' ... I think I will test on the morning of 19DPO if no ERTD which will be Friday 27th Aug- two weeks today.... will see how restrained I can be!

Will pop in tomorrow before the wedding- have a lovely Friday night everyone xxx

hermya my love, so not long for you now :)

haloflo · 13/08/2010 20:05

Congratulations MrsWajs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's brillant news! Am so so pleased for you! You are having a little spring baby! Venture into grads whenever you are ready. I look forward to seeing you there.

flick Good luck in your 2ww. I have have my eye on you!

You lot move so fast & I've no time to catch up tonight but I hope everyone else is well. Anyone else POAS this weekend?

JosieSmith1 · 13/08/2010 20:13

I'm nearlly finished the 2ww too but not holding out much hope. Plus I've got this bloody cold so feeling rotten now, and DH won't be back from work till 9.30pm ish so I'm on my todd and bored.

DessieLou · 13/08/2010 20:17

Blimey, you girls have been busy today! I'll never remember all that.
But a huge congratulations to MrsW!!!! I am soooooo jealous excited for you! Big hugs!
And congrats to Lanky on the house sale, also rather exciting!
I wish we could afford our own place but no savings so no mortgage so stuck in our quite lovely but leaking rented cottage.Sad
Went to the docs yesterday but she just said to leave it for a few months to see if things sort themselves out...sensible I suppose but frustrating.
Having said that OH has the possibility of a job in Scotland which may or may not happen in the next few months so I suppose it wouldn't be a bad thing if I didn't fall pregnant straight away....nope didn't convince myself with that one either! Grin
Oh well, pass the vino!

TomboyWife · 13/08/2010 20:47

congratulations MrsW!!! What fantastic news!

As today is CD4, and 4 is between 1 and 5, I went off to the clinic this morning to get every single drop of my blood drawn. Then repeat on day 21. When we went to the GP to complain of not being pg, she didn't seem too worried that anything was actually wrong, but she sent me and DH for the initial tests anyway. It could be that if I'd been the right side of my 35th birthday (known to some in the medical profession as Ovary Exploding Day), we'd have been told to come back in six months.

To those who are wondering how not to drink but pretend you are: one way not to do that is to go in with several people on a bottle of wine. That turns into two bottles of wine. Then three. Then I lost count. This was relatively guilt-free as AF was a-flowing, but my head didn't thank me the next day. Confused

TomboyWife · 13/08/2010 20:49

Argh, the strike-through didn't work. Let's try that again:

every single drop of my blood

stegasaurus · 13/08/2010 21:02

Congratulations Mrs Wajs. That is great news and a horrible few weeks for you. I had to read through about 5 pages to catch up and was on tenterhooks waiting to find out the result from your dr's appointment.

cherrycobbler · 13/08/2010 22:29

Eeeeeeekkkkk mrsw that is such such good news, an sooooo happy for you!!! Squeeeeeeeeaaaaaalll of excitement! Have all fingers crossed for very uneventful nine months. Yay!!

Ps flo lovely to hear from you hope all is going well!

crazydayz · 14/08/2010 09:01

Congratulations MrsW

Get well soon to all the poorly people - as the vast majority of us are all now ill maybe it's a sign :) !

Following my spell of watching baby TV on discovery home and health I now seem to be obsessing looking at bigger houses! Our house is pefectly adequate for us, dog, cat and my imaginery baby!

Pass the cocktails!
