A box with lots of different dressing up outfits - cowboy outfit, Dr and nurse outfit, princess dress, just need two more costumes. And then a treasure box with accessories - pretty shoes, necklaces, hats, scarves, hair bobs, Dr accessories. Something we can add to as she grows, and that she can share with her friends when they come to visit. She absolutely loves to dress up - we got much of this through hunting in charity shops, ebay as well as sales. Still need to get the treasure chest itself to put it all in.

Also, some kitchen stuff (kettle, microwave) to go with her food and saucepans, as she loves helping in the kitchen and hoping to buy a second hand cooker/kitchen thingy to go with it.

A couple of little things for her stocking.

That will be plenty.

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 16/11/2009 18:29

I just read your entire list. OMG!!!! that is a LOT. DD has around 1/5 of that, probably even less than that last year, aged 2.5 at christmas and it was way way to much for her. She did not appreciate it all at all, and the impact of the special presents were lost and she was overwhelmed and spent all day opening, and not much time playing with her toys. So this year, we limited it significantly as she will get presents from others too.

PoppyIsApain · 16/11/2009 18:37

Oh just remember we have also got ds a foldaway kitchen with the thought to remove the small bits till he is alot older. We had to cut our list down from £450 to £200 max as it was getting too much and not enough space. In hindsight we have bought everything now and got too much still
Am currently TTC so i see this as hopefully the last xmas where i spend alot on ds and next year the money will be shared.

waitingforbedtime · 16/11/2009 18:52

Ds will be 3 at Xmas. He is getting:

wooden fire station, noddy dvd, books, transformer, buzz lightyear, woody and slinky toys and buzz dress up from us.

JCB ride on from in laws

race track from my parents

playmobil private jet from his god mother

His birthday is 2 days before Xmas so no doubt we will be overloaded with crap presents completely. He is getting a bike from us, tower of doom (elc) and accesories for his birthday from various people.

Thing is though so many people buy for him who dont ask what to get so he will get lots of other stuff too. Where will I put it all??

ds1 (7) : Ben 10 interactive omnitrix scooter, Megatron movie leader transformer and Star Wars voice changer helmet.

ds2 (5) : Ben 10 figurines scooter, Ultimate Bumblebee transformer & walkie talkies

dd (18 mths) : Nighttime Iggle Piggle, Upsy Daisy bed toy, Baby Annabelle and pram

All have stockings with chocolate, whoppie cushions, small figurines etc. Dd has 'pretties' in hers.

Will finish off with a wii game and dvd for boys, and an ELC dressing up set (shoes, fake earrings etc) for dd.

I expect my parents will furnish me with Boden vouchers for them, as this is what i have asked for (will be about £80)

I am due dc4 on Xmas day, and haven't bought her a present incase she is early [bad mummy]

DD is 3.5 and she will be getting (from whole family):

Dolls house
Baby Born Boy and clothes
Vtech Camera
2 Barbie Musketeer dolls
Peppa Pig Set
ELC Build it set (17.50 was a bargain!)
Tinkerbell DVD and doll
Beatrix Potter books Box set
Peppa Pig Puzzles
Littlest Pet Shop Get Better Centre and some pets
3 games for her Clickstart
Kai Lan and Rintoo Beanies
Hama Beads
A few books
Bag
Some stocking bits
A filled washbag

If I hadn't veto'd my nan she would have all the barbie musketeer dolls, the house and the talking cat

I freely admit that I tend to go for quite a few presents for everyone at Christmas, I love Christmas with a passion. At first glance at your list Carrie, even I thought "Blimey!" But reading it through again, it looks like loads more than it really would turn out to be present wise.

I think this amount would only be overwhelming if you wrapped everything up individually, which would take ages to wrap and to unwrap and your DD probably will lose interest. I always wrap stuff up in groups, so I would wrap all the books together, all the playdoh together, the two games together, the sylvanian stuff etc. We also have a big present in the morning and one (that Father Christmas hid and mummy found!) for after tea too to spread out the suprises. So DD will get her doll house in the morning and her baby born after tea for example.

I don't think you really need to get her anymore though, that is plenty and as I said, I am a big present giver at Christmas. I sometimes have a drive to get everything that goes with a present, so I would want to get the dolls house, the mat it goes on, the car that goes with it, the stable, the garden set etc, but I have to have serious words with myself!

carriedababi · 17/11/2009 12:59

night shoe thanks for the wrapping tip, i will do that

Dd (2.7 at Christmas) is getting:

A dolls house (parents buying all the furniture)
A mini micro scooter
DVDs
Stickers
Notepads and pens (she has a weird fixation)
PJs
Slippers

And a baby brother.

I went completely over the top last year, and felt totally deflated when she got thoroughly bored of unwrapping presents and actually didn't end up playing with most of them.

She will love this dolls house, it was reasonably pricey, and I am not panicing at all about putting all my proverbial eggs in one basket.

MegBusset · 21/11/2009 22:07

For DS1 (2.10):

Leapfrog fridge phonics
ELC broom & dustpan set (I expect this to be the real winner)
Mr Men DVD
Peppa Pig jigsaw
Chuggington pants (we are attempting potty training over Xmas)
Sticker book
Mr Cool book
Small cuddly toy 'from' DS2

For DS2 (8mo):
Stacking rings
Fisher Price small truck with stacking bricks
Shape sorter
Cloth book
Small cuddly toy 'from' DS1

Looking at this thread I'm not sure if that's too much or too little -- so hopefully we're pitched somewhere average!
