probably a book , a craft thing and some choc, the same as his cosiuns really as we are spending Christmas with them. They are not well off and I don't want Boys Presents to stick out. He has set his heart on a LARGE toy, but we will wait till after christmas and see if any GPs give him money.. then he can buy it from them.

So far he has saved half this weeks pocket money towards said toy... ( only saw it mid week) he is really keen. Just another 560 weeks to go at that rate.

DebiTheScot · 14/11/2009 21:30

DS1 (3.8):
-playmobil roadsweeper
-Harlequins RL season ticket (altho it won't arrive till Jan)

  • stocking with things like 50p cars, individual playmobil figures, choc coins

DS2 (14 months):
-Duplo police station
-stocking with a few bits and pieces

  • probably a book

Family will mostly get them 1 thing each- playmobil, duplo, books, clothes etc.

frazzled74 · 14/11/2009 22:27

ds 1 ,laptop (really for doing well in gcse's but didnt have the money in august)
x box game, new school bag and a couple of cds, am taking him shopping for clothes in jan sales.

ds 2, car park from debenhams, leap pad, ds type thing plus game, play doh, chad valley castle, dvd crayons etc.

dd, dolls house (cheap one from chad valley, to test the water), ds game, kiddizoom camera, dvd and fur real kitten plus some knickers, bubble bath etc.

for ds2 and dd to share, dream town playhouse

will buy all 3 an annual and selection box plus new pjs for xmas eve(ds1 may object to the pj's this year)

Fruitbeard · 14/11/2009 23:16

DD (4.10) is getting:

A wooden jewellery box that plays a tune and has a ballerina twirling inside it (not a tacky placky dolly, a really lovely little wooden figurine)

A fairy-themed necklace and bracelet-making set

Plus some stocking stuff that's arts n' crafts related.

Tbh, without wishing to sound all happy clappy, we try to keep Christmas small-scale, as it's Jesus' birthday that we're celebrating and the gifts are a token thing.

DD's own, individual, birthday is the big blow-out, prezzie wise

Marne · 15/11/2009 09:16

Too much , i get a bit carried away with x-mas.

Dd1 is getting playmobil farm set.
Dd2 is getting a wheely bug and waybuloo toys.

And i have got them Go Go Hamsters between them.

Also got dd2 a microphone from elc (as it was on offer).

And dd1 some sylvanian families.

I might have to put some back for their birthdays in feb and march.

TrinityHasAVampireRhino · 15/11/2009 09:22

wow that is an obscene amounts of presents for anyone, especailly a 2.5 year old

my kids desperately want the go go hamsters

girlsyearapart · 15/11/2009 09:32

Good grief that is LOADS!

Why don't you save some for her birthday?

My dd (2.2) is getting a Peppa Pig fuzzy felt puzzle and a stocking with bits and bobs in from us that's all.

Dd2 14mo is getting a wooden lift out puzzle.

They will get presents from other people, already have lots of toys/things.

At 2 they just don't need all that stuff will get overwhelmed with it.

Save your money for when she's older and is actually asking for things and really 'gets' xmas.

Marne · 15/11/2009 09:33

We got way too much for the girls last year (lots of plastic rubbish),dd1 got fed up of opening things after the 3rd present so i decided this year to get less but better quality items, i have already got a bit carried away and bought more than i planned.

Its dd2's first year of really playing with anything (she has autism and we have just cracked the imagnitive play) so i am kind of spoiling her this year. We have sold old toys on e-bay to pay for it .

Trinity- i think i have bought the go go hamsters for me more than the girls, they look great and i can't wait to play with them . It took me 3 weeks to track all the bits down.

mumblecrumble · 15/11/2009 09:42

Wow!

Thats such a lot of stuff. Though to be honest i feel if you can afford it, what better thing to spend money on than your kids at Xmas...

Personally I feel our 2.5 year old doesn;t need masses of pressies. We have, underneath our bed in the secret presents drawer..

-Thomas the tank engine bedding for cotbed [ebay]
-Duplo train and track set [ebay]
-Dolly cot bed and high chair [we got a set of stuff for £25 quid and gave DD the buggy and chair for nirthday and saved half for xmas - are we stingy frugal or what?!!?
-bits and bobs: Thomas slippers, books [20p from library but in good nick!], some crafty bits

Grand parents - bedside table for when she goes into big girl bed soon.

Other grandparents - mini sizzle cooker thing, clothes.

Very excited as this is first year she has 'known' about Santa...

mumblecrumble · 15/11/2009 09:44

Also [cheese alert]

have 'spent' about £120 on DH being home on Christmas day and the weekend before xmas.

We have taken holidays to do lots of xmas baking, xmas decorating, winter walks collecting pinecones etc etc

Also, she gets bored quick of unwrapping!!!

nannynick · 15/11/2009 09:44

J(5) Personalised colouring pencils,Magnetic Battleships game.

D(2) Wooden Fruit

Children I nanny, rather than being my own children... thus perhaps why they aren't getting that many things.

girlsyearapart · 15/11/2009 09:46

Riven- would your dd be interested in her own walkman type thing and some story cds? Some books have the cds in with them. REmember my nephew being v into them at that age.

Trinity what are gogo hamsters? How much are they?

Forgot to say dd1 is getting 'a big girl bed' from the ILs and a bed guard from my mum.

The ILS didn't get either of them anything for their birthdays and won't get them anything next year either so Dd2 will get a bed from them next xmas. If that makes sense..

nannynick · 15/11/2009 10:05

Riven - just a thought, as your dd2 likes books, would she also like Audio Books? Have you heard about Young Calibre an audiobook lending library?
Just thought I'd mention it whilst I spotted you posting on a thread.
Sorry for the thread hi-jack all.

carriedababi · 15/11/2009 12:49

i might let her have a few bits early, between now and xmas, and next year i might do things differently.
but i just fancy doing this, this year

upahill · 15/11/2009 14:13

I'm getting DS1 (13) a track day at Outon Park and he is going to tell me in the next few days what he would like. I have asked if he wants and x box and the like but he doesn't. He's not wanter.

I am getting DS2 the latest PSP whaterver number it is plus games I think Ds2 will come to about £300 so I'll spend the same to the penny on DS1 .

DH is more problamatic though. I like to splash out and treat him but he is difficult to buy for. He had been after a SLR digital camera for ages so I bought that for his birthday in October now I'm stuck for Ideas. Imay pay for him to go on a Grand Prix trip next season.

tassisssss · 15/11/2009 14:16

Wow, OP, that's TONNES!!

My girls are getting a dolls house with my parents getting the furniture.

Ds will get a combination of lego, maybe baugan and either a DS or a Gameboy Advence (jury's still out on that one!)

girlsyearapart · 15/11/2009 14:22

My dad used to work away when I was little and he made me a tape of him reading my favourite bedtime stories. Whatta man my dad is must've taken him ages!

jemart · 15/11/2009 14:31

dd1(4y)- vsmile games
barbie doll
colouring pencils
playmobil
mini handbag
hair accessories

dd2(3y)- as above. I get them similar gifts to prevent arguments and things like playmobil and barbies they play with together anyway.

ds (9m)- mickey mouse airplane toy
Beautiful Steiff teddy bear

carriedababi · 15/11/2009 14:40

It's lovely to be able to give so much to our Dc's, and I'd love to have the money to give half a dozen gifts to each of mine, but personally, I think half of this countrys problem is giving too much to our children. Kids don't need or even appreciate what they have leave alone what they get along the way. There really can be too much of a good thing sometimes.
