ds (5) is getting so far
ben10 wii game and a weird game cube game - got them both for £20 (secondhand). Dp played them through and tehy seem good.

He also really wants 'dirty bertie' which they read at school so may get him that.

Then stocking - but that tends to be the plastic crap that he loves so much. Possibly some more paper/pens/sellotape.

Last year we did him a treasure hunt with a decorated shoe box at the end with sparkly stuff in (pound shop stuff). May do something similar.

Gps are getting him lego.

Wanderingsheep · 15/11/2009 15:24

DD (2 and 1/2) is getting:

a dolls house
go go hamsters and house
peppa pig train
waybuloo toys
a silver necklace
books

The Waybuloo toys are off my mum and the necklace is off my sister. I still want to get her some puzzles and we still have stocking stuff to get.

I don't know what the ILs are getting her. Probably something that we don't have room for . I think SIL has got her a Tinkerbell dressing up dress.

Carriedababi, I can understand why you have got so much. Our DDs are a similar age and my DD is so interested in Christmas this year, compared to last year and it's so exciting I just want to buy everything! However, I'm a CM so if she doesn't play with everything someone will!

I am so not organised this year, in my defence DD has just had her birthday and I always struggle with Christmas coming so soon after. So far I've got them an Xbox Elite with 2 games to share, I'm sure they won't fight , which doesn't leave a lot of money for much else! I've already bought DS a starter telescope, hmmm, what else, probably the usual books/annuals/calendars. Probably just one more medium present for DD then that'll do, I've been dropping hints all year about making more fuss on birthdays than at Christmas. DH will doubtless take DS to a rugby match some time over the holidays, and I'm taking DD to see Miley Cyrus on Dec 20th which was part of her birthday present, so I don't feel too mean.

OP, I know exactly how you feel about buying presents, but it really seems like you've bought about 2 years' worth of birthday/christmas presents! I used to love spoiling my DC when they were little, but I've got fed up with only just paying off the credit card bills the next November...

Marne · 16/11/2009 14:21

op- if i was you i would put the sylvanian families back for a while, dd1 is 5 and struggles with the tiny bits, i don't think its recommended for a 2.5 year old, at that age my dd would have shuved it up her nose .

If you give her all those things this year what are you going to buy her for her birthday and next x-mas?

AmazingBouncingFerret · 16/11/2009 14:32

DS is getting..
ELC's Build it. A bargainous £17.50 plus my added staff disc, reduced from £35!

Retro Robot thing from ELC, again another bargain with my discount!

Emergency service garage thing from Toys R Us.
Im hoping to pick up some Land Before Time DVD's from somewhere.
And apart from some little stocking fillers (thanks for ideas everyone!!) that will be it.

His birthday is on 4th December and he is getting the Tower of Doom and aload of accessories.

This seems like a paltry amount now!!

Im due DC2 on 11th December and have bought it a Gloworm.

OleOleOlentils · 16/11/2009 14:36

Ferret, a real live sibling to pull and poke sounds like a fairly impressive bonus present to me .... Good luck with the baby.

carriedababi · 16/11/2009 15:00

marne, i put all the small bits in a tupperware box and only let her have them when im playing with her, but on her own she plays with the figures, small house car, suitcase
cot baby high chair

for her birthday i'm hoping to get a tp wooden swing slide and skyride set and a large trampoline.
i will probably ask everyone to chip in, like we did with her wooden playhouse.
everyone thought it was a good idea
which i know is alot, but its a one off, as once this garden equipment is in theres not much room for anythingelse big in the garden

shes got a small trampoline and little tikes cube which i will sell before getting the new bigger stuff.think i'll get about 60 for thoses

and next christmas, i will get what ever shes into then.

OleOleOlentils · 16/11/2009 16:05

Carrie, do you plan on having other children? I suppose when I'm buying I'm planning on spacing things out over the next few years and leaving room for dd2 to get exciting things too.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 16/11/2009 16:05

Thank you OleOle!

SkipToMyLou · 16/11/2009 16:18

Hurrah! Thanks to the joys of the Internet, DD now also has an Accessorize hairdryer/straightener set (half price at Boots TYVM), they each have an annual and a calendar. All I have to do is get some more cheap & cheerful stocking fillers and I am DONE!

And yes, it's me who's killing the high street. Needs must when you're a lazy arse.

carriedababi · 16/11/2009 16:51

oleole, we are just starting to talk/think about it, but i see your pov.

DS will be 3 yrs 8 months at Christmas. His big pressies from us are a wooden toy castle and a pair of roller blades (for on carpets in the house, don't ask - his cousins have them and he's obsessed - and weirdly pretty good on them too!) He'll have a Ben 10 omnitrix in his stocking with other bits and bobs like socks etc. The ILs will get him some knights for his castle. My parents are getting him a scooter (I know they've also got him the Gruffalo jigsaw book, and if they stop there I'll be surprised - my mother is a demon when it comes to buying oodles of presents for the grandkids!). Haven't had any ideas to pass on to my B/SIL or his godparents yet, but my oldest friend is getting him a play medical kit. It's all stuff he's expressed repeated wishes for over the last year, so I'm hopeful it will all get played with.

PoppyIsApain · 16/11/2009 18:12

Ds will be 18 months old;

Little Tikes car transporter
Thomas the tank engine sodor adventure island
Fisher price little people garage
CAT large digger
Thomas the tank engine soft toy
Books
DVD's
Giant teddy bear
Stocking with thomas torch and small bits
Some toddler cars, only 2/3 cant remember now

Nanny is getting him the cat digger i wrote down earlier and disney cars set
Grandma and Grandad getting him a voucher for something like gymbabes

PoppyIsApain · 16/11/2009 18:16

I gave him a pressie early yesterday, it is a cheap version mega blox fire engine. He loves it but dh gave me smacked wrist

ihearttc · 16/11/2009 18:16

DS who is 5 in feb is getting from us:

A Hornby train set (£40 from e-bay) which is all he will play with on christmas day!

And a stocking with a Ice Road Truckers dvd (cause Im sick of my sky+ being full of it!),playmobil people, chocolate,Ben 10 Watch(£2!) and a mini etch a sketch thing!

In-laws have got him a Playmobil camper van and auntie has got him My First Monopoly

My parents have got him some Mecano and a 2 wheel scooter which was a bargain at £8.

It does seem an awful lot of stuff for a little person to have in the OP...why don't you save some of it for her birthday?

Are Sylvanian family stuff any good then? MIL has just offered me a load of it which she has had sitting in her loft to get rid of on e-bay cause she needs the space...maybe I should have said yes and made some money!
