Thought it would be handy to start a thread!!!

You should all get an ID number for parcels, so please quote it in your thanks (you can name change ) to make life easier for people checking their parcels have been received!

for Christmas Spirit!

I don't know what to say other than a huge thank you - whoever kindly nominated me and sent me those lovely items is incredibly generous and it was so lovely to receive them.

Thank you also to STG for organising it this year and to Flame for setting up a thank you thread.

One very happy Mumsnetter. xxx

Nominator · 04/12/2008 14:47

Yay! You so needed something Whispy

whispywhisp · 04/12/2008 19:01

KC?

Nominator · 04/12/2008 19:30

I think guessing is frowned upon, but no, I am not KC

whispywhisp · 04/12/2008 19:44

Give me a clue then, please!

I'm still shocked someone thought of me...

WhispyDonator · 04/12/2008 21:39

I'm glad they arrived safely and were suitable. I have only got a boy, so it was hard to know what to get. It was my absolute pleasure to send the parcel. Happy Christmas.

whispywhisp · 05/12/2008 07:52

Thank you. The girls love their bits and I absolutely love my candles. Can't wait to light them. It's DH's birthday tomorrow so probably light a couple then! Thank you...whoever you are. It was incredibly kind and generous of you. xx

Flamesparrow · 05/12/2008 07:57

oh I love this part of it - seeing happy people

I am actually crying having just received a V large box, which quite literally contained an entire xmas worth of toys for my DD. I am so shocked and so so so unbelievably grateful to the immensely generous and seemingly psychic MN'er. Every single thing in that box is perfect for my DD, a few of them she's asked for! (slightly freaked out by mind reading skills)
I don't feel like saying thankyou is good enough I will come back here at xmas though and let you know her reactions when she opens the gifts.

Thankyou so very much.

whispywhisp · 05/12/2008 11:18

I agree...saying thank you doesn't seem enough does it especially as my parcel cost over a fiver to post. I've undone the soaps and they smell lovely, the candles are so pretty and smell gorgeous. DD1 has adopted the pencil case and taken it to school this morning, DD2 is using the matching note-pad to practice her letters and lead-in-lines! The make-up is being shared between the two of them. Absolutely lovely. xx

Flamesparrow · 05/12/2008 11:19

I know I keep replying on here, and I haven't even had a match to send to yet, but I am just so happy for happy people (does that make sense???)

OP posts:
whispywhisp · 05/12/2008 11:26

Yes Flame it does....that's very kind of you to think of people like that.

Flamesparrow · 05/12/2008 11:34

I received a lot that very first year - I will never forget that feeling of wonder and amazement that people could care that much about a "stranger".

OP posts:
Dumbfounded · 05/12/2008 11:38

It's astonishing isn't it flame. I keep crying when I think about it Completely restores all faith in other people.

whispywhisp · 05/12/2008 11:48

I still keep wondering 'why me?'

Ihavebeenshopping · 05/12/2008 13:39

I have just bought the last couple of bits for my parcel that I will be posting - I cannot wait to send it off and give someone a nice surprise.

Nominator · 05/12/2008 13:47

"Why me?" - because you have had a crappy time lately and needed a pick me up And no, I am not going to out myself so ner.

mumoverseas · 05/12/2008 16:54

'why not you' whispy? obviously someone must have known you were having a hard time and thought of you. I only joined mumsnet around 6 months ago and feel so lucky to be able to be a part of this. So many people are having a really bad time at the moment so I feel priviliged to be able to give something to someone. I actually told(asked?) my eldest kids about them having one present less for xmas so we could send pressies to other children and they were totally in agreement. Who knows whispy, maybe next year you will be in a better situation and can be in a position to nominate someone else/donate. Its a lovely lovely idea and when done StG for organising it all.
I posted my parcels this morning and hope the nominees get as much pleasure as your DC did whispy x

WhispyDonator · 06/12/2008 08:04

Whispy - why you? Because someone chose to nominate you as they felt you deserved it! And I was matched with you. I was nominated last year after a particularly bad year and wanted to return the lovely feeling this year. It was absolutely my pleasure to do it and I wish I could have sent more.

I still have no idea who nominated me last year but it still gives me a warm glow. Enjoy the feelings - I am sure you deserve them! Mumsnet is fab at times like this.

Thank you.

This morning I received a parcel containing a lovely, well thought of present for each of my children. I opened the parcel with tears in my eyes and by the time I'd looked at everything I was howling!

I am always astounded at this time of the year with the generosity and kindness of others and I am struggling to find words to express how much this means to me and us as a family.

Things are a bit tight this year due to dp losing his job (but I guess someone already knows that or I wouldn't have been nominated ) and these gifts are really going to help.

Once again, thank you. I gather it's not the done thing to name your donor, so I won't, but you know who you are.

St.George - now I know what you wanted, you norty lady! Thank you for organising this.

To my nominee - thank you, twas very kind of you to think about me.

(I feel like Gwynneth Paltrow now, I've got the tears and everything... perhaps I'll leave the thread now...)

Seriously, thank you.

I heart mumsnet

nominator2 · 06/12/2008 11:22

I love mumsnet too!

flamesparrow · 06/12/2008 11:34

Wonder how many nominator names there will be by the end?

Yay for Squonk!

OP posts:
nominator2 · 06/12/2008 11:54

Squonk - you are a fab mner and very much so deserved to be nominated

dumbfoundedsfriend · 06/12/2008 21:33

I am so glad you like your box of goodies, I would love to know how your DD reacts on Christmas day. I do really hope she enjoys them.
Your post has made me and DH shed a tear.
This is what Christmas is about. This year Christmas day will be extra special for me - because of you.
