Evening!

I'm a bit tipsy and very tired, but it's been a good day.

Round 2 tomorrow with the roast dinner!

So sorry to hear about your MIL @FurForksSake

FurForksSake · 22/01/2026 16:21

Thanks lovelies. I’ve made her some chicken soup and put it in the freezer for when she comes out of hospital. I made the stock like Jamie’s gravy so it tastes a bit festive and know she loves my gravy.

There is absolutely nothing as healing as chicken soup!

Tomato soup for me preferably made in the soup maker but a tin of Heinz will do .
I made lentil soup last week which pleases the soul.

Washing on (2nd load) some tidying then I am off to the dentist later . Then I;ll come home and whinge .

My dentist trip was fine. Check up, x-rays and a little clean. Back in 12 months.

It was dry here earlier, but it's gone gloomy now.

We have arrived at the in-laws and tomorrow is our child free trip to Bath Spa!!!
@NoWordForFluffy it's gloomy here and very wet and windy!

NoCheesesForUsMeeces · 24/01/2026 09:06

335 Morning. We're all under the weather with cough/tight chests etc so we've all overslept and have just woken up 😳

I'm so sorry about your MIL Fur

Jealous of all of you who have non eventful dentist trips. I seem to need endless treatment and it's awful.

Enjoy your trip to Bath today chopstick

We're doing a very boring and low key day today. LO has a sports club, we'll do the food shop and we need to go to B&Q.
DH is going to put together our new shoe & coat stand, I need to do a good clean and sort in the utility room and we have stuff to put in the attic.
Then it'll be chill and early nights all around I think.
I may start my new crochet project too. I offered to make a toy for pregnant colleague and she’s requested a pigeon so I need to figure how I’m going to make it…

NoWordForFluffy · 24/01/2026 09:28

Morning!

Bright and breezy here today. Time to get the washing out!

We've only just got up. I'm taking the dog out imminently and then we're off out for lunch, spending a voucher we got for Christmas.

I should try to do some cleaning, but I'll probably be a little too drunk to care once we're back. 🤣🤣

Meeses, I had teeth out and a brace as a child, other than that, I've not even had a filling. The way the dentist treated me for what I have had done made me scared of dentists for a very long time.

Morning
I need to do some random things , pick up an M&S order , do my tyres, drop off some Charity Shop things .
Need to dye my hair , I can do a face mask and " An Everything Shower " ( scrub , nice showergel , then some lotion ) . If I still have the impetus then dye my eyebrows. I really should dye them as when my hair is dyed I need my brows to be bolder .

I will fit in some random housework .
Load of washing in at the moment . <winner>

Enjoy Bath @ChopstickNovice

Pigeon ? @NoCheesesForUsMeeces . They are lovely looking birds with their stripes and iridescent green throats . I wouldn't know where to begin crocheting one though ! Good Luck with that

FurForksSake · 24/01/2026 10:54

Morning! Big garden bird watch this afternoon for me I think.

Trying to decide what to do tomorrow, I need to find my embroidery stuff for my baubles so I can do one of those.

GrannyWeatherwaxsBroomstick · 24/01/2026 11:35

Enjoy your day in Bath chopstick

TheWoollybacksWife · 24/01/2026 12:55

I have a pattern for a crochet pigeon @NoCheesesForUsMeeces. I'll send it to you by PM.

Magnoliasunrise · 24/01/2026 13:01

Had a busy morning, dropped DS at training then gym then supermarket but having chilled out afternoon. My robovac did my vaccuming so I just need to do a quick mop then make a lasagne.

Am going to break dry January this evening with a glass of wine while watching Amanda and Alans Greece renovation.

Have a lovely time in Bath Chopstick and enjoy your nice lunch Fluffy

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 24/01/2026 15:19

I have a huge vegetarian lasagne in the fridge right now , made it yesterday .
I read a Top Tip -probably on MN- to bake it then let it sit a while (just like the Christmas Dinner turkey) to firm up . Then it cuts into nice neat portions rather than be a ugly , oozing mess .

ChopstickNovice · 24/01/2026 15:27

Thanks everyone!!
@NoCheesesForUsMeeces Good luck with the pigeon!!!

I bought something for my DS Dec 1st Box - I always buy him black socks and white sports socks .
Black socks have a logo on them so I know they're his (usually Next or Sainsbury).
I saw some really cute ones so got them to put away .
Made a Start Xmas Grin

I made Potato Cakes or Tattie Scones to give them their proper name . Just realised I did a Scottish Breakfast item on Burns Night <Go Me> Xmas Grin
Vegetarian bacon, DH and DD had fried eggs (I'm not a fan of eggs)
DH makes vague mournful whitters about how he cannot find them in the shops now and there's a YouTube video "What's For Tea" where they do loads of Scottish cooking , I saw them on there .

Going out later for a waft round the shops

Magnoliasunrise · 25/01/2026 10:00

Happy first Rudolph Day of the year.

70 the tip re the lasagne worked. It was more to do with the kids taking their time coming to the table than anything pre planned but it did seem to be firmer.

I've ditched the gym today and have been on the sofa looking at holiday villas for 2 hours. I am like Goldilocks with them though and will end up not booking anything.

VillageFete · 25/01/2026 11:18

@ChopstickNovice Hope you’ve had a wonderful time in Bath!

Bane of my life- what to cook everyone for tea? I need to go food shopping, clean around, do a load of ironing. Some Rudolph day this is! 😏

ChopstickNovice · 25/01/2026 11:41

@VillageFete it was LOVELY thankyou. Lovely hotel, breakfast was superb. The day was very rainy but as we were just bimbling in and out of cafes and bookshops it didn't really matter. And I got a lovely Anthropologie sweater in a charity shop for £8!

NoWordForFluffy · 25/01/2026 11:47

@Magnoliasunrise, I think I've spent at least 15 hours looking at holidays so far. We have 0 holidays booked! 😩

@NoWordForFluffy is it me or does everywhere seem massively expensive?

It does. Which is why I can't bring myself to hit book! (I've got right through to the payment page a few times!)
