Thread 8 - the one with all the pillow talk

This post is a work in process and if you have any links you’d like to share or would be good to add then please do let me know. The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links (is that the right word?) And any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of mn filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!

If you have any referral links then please post on this thread https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212180-bargain-referrals-thread-7 and share around the joy/referral perks.

It's nearly time! November is tomorrow and Mariah Carey will be officially announcing the start of festivities Grin . Hope you're all well and just wanted to give you all a massive thank you so sharing these wonderful ideas and codes etc. It helps me SO MUCH. I know I don't post much on here (various things going on) but I appreciate this warm place of mn so much.

Thank you for the railcard help, I actually found a 25% discount code via MSE for Trip.com so got one for £26 which I was pretty pleased with.

hoopdeloop · 08/11/2025 18:54

If anyone has a designer outlet near them, worth checking if they have a Ravensburger pop up. Livingston do and I got these Gravitrax sets for £3 each. They also had brio train sets and accessories, jigsaws and lots of games, including Villainous for £8

Smyths recently started to sell Yotos and cards :)

Oh thanks!

NowIveSeenEverything · 08/11/2025 19:01

@gingerbreadmumm No one has mentioned this yet re yoto vs toni, but don't undervalue the magic of make your own cards. Theyre much cheaper than the pre made cards and you can re write over them as many times as you want. I made my kids a kpop DH card long before the original was released (in fact an hour after we watched it for the first time, with a cover printed on my kodak instant print thing) :) Since I got them yoto minis last Xmas, theyve been used daily - not for the stories alas (borrowbox at your library is your friend here) but for the disco/halloween/christmas/various rock artists music cards i made for them. My son listens to the minecraft game soundtrack on repeat all night 😅

We had a 4 year old tonie mum over for Halloween and she (kid and mum) were blown away by the yoto versatility.

Note - I do not work for yoto, but the tech is fantastic!

I know K-pop has been mentioned a few times but am specifically looking for BTS merch. Can anyone recommend where to buy from in the uk that is not polyester but cotton?

Also does anyone know if Trinny London take part in Black Friday or know of any discount codes? Thanks

What product are you looking for from Trinny London? Ive just ordered the John Lewis beauty heroes box at £70, it has a full size Trinny London eye cream worth £65 and Murad moisturiser worth £65 in it, so well worth the price, think total value of contents is £355.

The elevator and some make up. But that box does look good!

@AnotherBreakfast I just had a look for Kpop and clicked on a random t-shirt, it's 100% cotton, so might be worth looking on EMP. There's 15% off for new customers too Link to the random t-shirt but I just searched kpop and a few things came up

I think there may be a black friday reduction on it by next week, fingers crossed for you 🤞🏻

wibdib · 08/11/2025 20:01

If anyone uses it needs to buy Elizabeth Arden Visible Difference cream, it’s currently £13.50 on Amazon rather than £40 - my mum uses it (and has amazing skin for being over 90!) so I’ve stocked up for her at that price…

There are some other things available too at similar 2/3rds off discounts - including a hydrogel and eye cream and cleanser…

Haven’t had time to investigate in detail but thought for anyone wanting some of their cream it’s a fab deal!

We went for a Yoto for my then 2 year old (now 3.5). Reasons being it has more longevity than the Toni, the Toni figures are a pain to store (from experience at work) and the Yoto cards are very easy, I also thought the Toni figures would just become toys plus the mini was much easier to take in the car etc.
However her friend who got a Toni at a similar time was able to operate his independently almost immediately where as DD is only just now working hers out and still needs some help at times.

We got the tonie box for this reason, dd has been able to operate it since she was about 9m old by herself to some degree, now at 18m it’s a favourite toy and she loves the figures, can control the volume and picking what she wants to listen to and just really enjoys playing with it. it’s also very robust - ours has been thrown down the stairs many times!
I just bought a little basket and I shove all the characters in there once we’re finished. It does have less longevity but I wouldn’t expect any of her other toys that she has now to last until she’s 7 or 8 so I don’t mind having something that’s just good for now. The characters have a decent resale value too once she’s outgrown it

You can make your own tonies with creative tonies too
..also don’t work for tonies😂

Anyone here with an active YHA membership that could send me a discount code for a railcard pretty please? 🙏

Try;

YHASAVE

But, it's only for 10% off, and I dont know if you need to use a YHA membership number.

Raindancer411 · 08/11/2025 21:05

I am hoping to get the gravitrax starter at a reasonable price for
my son. On these precious years threads, they had it at 29.99 one year! Now it’s nearly doubled so going for a Black Friday deal.

Dogmatix34 · 08/11/2025 21:14

I bought some things in store yesterday and was given a voucher for 10% off if I shop again in store on a specific date around black Friday (can't remember exact date sorry!). Might help if it's an expensive rug!

I had such a horrendous experience with Debenhams last year I would never ever use them again. Miss the old real Debenhams, but the new customer service is absolutely shocking.

Fuckingfuckssake · 08/11/2025 22:08

We use this one from
Amazon - there's a coupon on it at the moment to bring it down a little bit. We walk the dogs on the beach a lot and it lights the whole way to the sea

torch
