This post is a work in process and if you have any links you’d like to share or would be good to add then please do let me know. The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links (is that the right word?) And any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of mn filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!

If you have any referral links then please post on this thread https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212180-bargain-referrals-thread-7 and share around the joy/referral perks.

It's nearly time! November is tomorrow and Mariah Carey will be officially announcing the start of festivities Grin . Hope you're all well and just wanted to give you all a massive thank you so sharing these wonderful ideas and codes etc. It helps me SO MUCH. I know I don't post much on here (various things going on) but I appreciate this warm place of mn so much.

Blissy silk pillowcases are expensive but worth it, had mine for several years and like new still.

Are there any other SockShop codes than the 10% plus lounge20?

I'm wearing DS's hand me downs from last year, I think I might get us all some more as they are so comfy.

Happy Halloween

Talking of pillows, does anyone have a recommendation for a silk pillowcase (& are they any good?)

And any discounts on the Dreamland heated throws?

Edited

John Lewis have good ones in 100% mulberry silk and in a range of colours. DH bought one for DD last year in the black friday offers and I think they had 20% off. I've bought cheaper in the past but they weren't mulberry silk the whole way round.

Does anyone have a code for SHO water bottles please. Someone posted a 25% off code on last thread but I can’t find it and it’s not popping up on the SHO website.

Comefromaway · 31/10/2025 12:18

From looking at the silk pillowcases the JL one looks lovely but I'm wondering whether to go for the cheaper satin due to the fact dd gets mascara over all her bedding. Do the satin ones feel nice/are good for your hair?

Brightvoyager · 31/10/2025 12:21

I can confirm this is a lovely luxurious throw with plenty of weight. I’ve just bought it this week. Dreamland is a good make and I’ve got a similar one I’ve had for more than 5 year. I bought a cheaper one recently at Costco but false economy. I returned it as it felt thin and I could feel the wires through it.

Lidl have the big tubs of Celebrations and Quality Street for £4 something - Sainsburys still seem to be holding out at £7

I'm pretty sure tesco has them for £3.50 on clubcard price

The code is SECRET25.
though I don’t know when it’s due to end.

My DegustaBox calendar has arrived ripped too, but (as far as I can tell), nothing damaged.

Given that previously I had to make a credit card chargeback with them as their customer service was so useless, I don't think I'll bother this year and just accept a torn-up calendar, as it's only for me.

I would highly recommend they are swerved as gifts for others though.

For silk pillowcases,we have some from Jasmine silk, They have 15% off for black Friday as well at the moment.
My daughter uses ones with cotton underside so it doesn't slip about like full silk ones do. Great quality and washes well.
They also sell on Amazon.

WhiskyandWater · 31/10/2025 14:00

@Comefromaway I also get mascara all over my pillow, I just wash the Blissy silk ones as normal with the rest of my bedding (40 degrees not 60) and it comes out fine. My understanding is that silk is more breathable and doesn’t absorb as much moisture as satin which is why it’s better for your hair and skin but I could be taken in by the hype and marketing, I just like the way it feels on my face. I’ve had cheaper silk ones in the past (not the John Lewis one PP mentioned) and I’m very wedded to Blissy because it just feels better quality.
I’ve bought DDs silk bonnets from m and s in the past for sleep because I didn’t think they’d appreciate the pillowcases (teens) if that’s any help.

Comefromaway · 31/10/2025 14:11

Thanks Whisky. I'll look at the Blissy ones. Dd is, however, currently in a uni halls of residence with Circuit Laundry whereas at home we have a lovely Miele washing machine with a special silk setting so perhaps she might not have the facilities to wash them as well.

The feel of things is also very important to her.

EDIT - some of those Blissy colours are gorgeous

LaddersAndLadders · 31/10/2025 14:26

Looking for electric blanket recommendations - the under sheet kind. Need one with warmer zone at feet and hopefully quick heatup. I see Lidl have some Sensiplast ones but not sure if any good and doesn't say what it means by quick heatup.

I hate my very expensive Dreamland one as it's supposed to heat up in 10 mins but takes an hour and not very hot.

For those that use a smart plug with their electric underblankets could you kindly explain how? Can you use it with all types of underblankets or only those with on off button?

SkinnyOatFlatWhiteForMePlease · 31/10/2025 14:31

Better value than GHD’s own very early Black Friday sale.
