Thread 8 - the one with all the pillow talk

Reastie · 31/10/2025 07:11

This post is a work in process and if you have any links you’d like to share or would be good to add then please do let me know. The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links (is that the right word?) And any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of mn filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!

If you have any referral links then please post on this thread https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212180-bargain-referrals-thread-7 and share around the joy/referral perks.

It's nearly time! November is tomorrow and Mariah Carey will be officially announcing the start of festivities Grin . Hope you're all well and just wanted to give you all a massive thank you so sharing these wonderful ideas and codes etc. It helps me SO MUCH. I know I don't post much on here (various things going on) but I appreciate this warm place of mn so much.

I literally just placed an order for over £100 late last night. 😭😭

The offer had sold out by 9am when I checked, only 1500 got the offer! Gutted I missed out, want to buy a bigger Christmas tree for this year!

Streetcornerchoir · 08/11/2025 10:43

I wouldn’t worry about the Argos cashback, they’ve never once tracked/paid out for me. Only company I never bother going through cashback for now.

jocktamsonsbairn · 08/11/2025 11:17

@hugsandpugs I think you are saving my Christmas!! I’ve used quite a few of the bargains you’ve found this year so thank you! Just ordered the cheek tint and hand cream, signed my soul away for an overload of marketing emails, given a false birthday (month before DN’s birthday) and now have finished the last wee bit of DN’s Christmas! Think thats me done now so must avoid twitching!

thinking of getting my 3 year old nephew YOTO or Toni? can anyone tell me what the difference is or which is better? also, any good deals on them atm?

Not very Christmassy but does anyone know how to get a discount at dunelm? I’m looking for a rug!
Im a member already so no new sign up deals unfortunately.

on another note…I checked my emails and Debenhams have emailed me a £10 voucher with free delivery on orders over £30 -worth checking your emails!

I bought some things in store yesterday and was given a voucher for 10% off if I shop again in store on a specific date around black Friday (can't remember exact date sorry!). Might help if it's an expensive rug!

gingerbreadmumm · 08/11/2025 11:24

Also, any suggestions for a baby boy who will be 2 months at Christmas and has an older brother so will have a lot of stuff already ? thanks

Anyone here with an active YHA membership that could send me a discount code for a railcard pretty please? 🙏

Have you got any Tesco vouchers? £17.50 of Tesco vouchers gets a £35 Railcard or you can change a smaller amount and pay the balance by card.

We have both and there’s no comparison. Yoto is so much better. Tonies are so expensive to collect, annoying to store, the audio itself is often short, the controls are a nightmare to use and the charger is temperamental. Yoto cards are cheaper, easier to store, controls are simpler, it’s easier to create your own content, there’s loads of high quality free content, you can play radio stations (including Yoto radio, which is surprisingly good), they can be used as a nightlight and Gro clock, and they can also be used as a Bluetooth speaker when the recipient outgrows Yoto content. Please don’t waste your money on a Toniebox. I really don’t understand the love for them. Some people buy echo dots for audio content, which might be an option for you, too.

I'm not sure if the link will work as you need to be signed in and have the rewards account. Once u do that go into the black Friday deals and filter for iron man.

Can anyone help with cheapest way to get Dualsense Edge controller please?
It’s £10 off in Smyths Toys and Very. Not sure if there are further vouchers here or if it would be cheaper with an Argos voucher and the Argos cashback offer?

Morning lovely, ok so if you go onto royalty is loyalty it will show you how many points you have there and there will be options underneath to earn points if you haven’t done these already…

When you have your basket ready go to checkout and at checkout it should have a bit saying order summary underneath the shipping options. There will be a bit next to order summary that says show and if you click on that it should come up with how much points you have with a redeem button next to it.

You can’t use points and a discount voucher though. For me my points worked out as more savings than using the 15% off I had.

Hope this helps and it works for you 🥰

You are a Star. I hadn’t seen that bit at all - thanks for your patience x

I’ve just had a look at trustpilot and I’m not sure if this website/company is legit.

You signed up but did you then also sign up to their rewards scheme? You have to sign up twice

TimeMovesOn · 08/11/2025 13:13

I just nearly bought a beautiful Faber piano anthology from Amazon when I noticed I had 10% off if I bought two- I clicked through to see what else was on the offer and found a really good and wide selection of books, not just music books.

BUT!

When I showed it to DH, he actually had an offer of 20% off if you bought three.
So even if you share a prime subscription as we do, it's worth checking what deals the other person has before you buy!

Think a lot of us here are Yoto fans; we’ve had ours for years, it’s integral to our bedtimes and I love them.

They have historically done good Black Friday deals which in the past have stacked with referral codes, so probably worth waiting unless you have something specific in mind which might sell out.

Have ordered from this site many times before without ssue but I do see what you mean - if I'd looked at the reviews first I'd never have taken a chance!
Can't comment on returns process though, anything that didn't fit or I didn't like went in the charity shop bag.

We went for a Yoto for my then 2 year old (now 3.5). Reasons being it has more longevity than the Toni, the Toni figures are a pain to store (from experience at work) and the Yoto cards are very easy, I also thought the Toni figures would just become toys plus the mini was much easier to take in the car etc.
However her friend who got a Toni at a similar time was able to operate his independently almost immediately where as DD is only just now working hers out and still needs some help at times.
