What do you really want for Christmas?

I've spent the afternoon with a friend, and we've been planning our annual Christmas Shopping Extravaganza - it's become our default present to each other, brunch somewhere nice, a browse around the shops, coffee in a garden centre etc.

We don't actually buy much other than a few stocking fillers for our children, and a few little items here and there, but she asked me what I really really wanted for Christmas.

I said I would love a copy of Sense and Sensibility, preferable a dusty well thumbed paperback.

She wants a door stop.

Neither of us is being a grinchy bah humbugger, we're just quite happy with a little token gift. So what would you like?

I want anything from Elizabeth Scarlett, in particular an open flat makeup bag, anything with frills and a half moon bag 😅

However two things put me off, one is that I sew and am capable of making any of those things (although not with her lovely designs obviously) and two, I read on here that teen girls love them, so I feel a bit silly!

Which is silly in itself I know.

A lottery win or an all expenses paid holiday

They would be great but really this year has shown me I have so much. I would like there to be some relief as we go into next year as this year has been brutal for my immediate family.

I was going to write the same, but about my young adult son. He’s been struggling with his mental health for years. I’ve thrown everything I can at it, financially, emotionally, practically. I want him healthy and happy. That’s all I want.

I’d really really like a chocolate brown oversized ADA hoody. It is NEVER in stock and whilst I could afford one, I keep buying dc things instead. I think I might put a reminder

I had this one year so I ran Christmas day on Christmas eve, did everything the day before with my DCs, mum and partner - lunch, gifts etc.
Then Christmas was a regular day and I was studying at the time so had a study day. DCs then had Christmas at their dad's. It showed me that a day is just the day you make it (I think you should have a movie day if not studying).

The day off work. (grumpy over schedule)

Good shout, my DD bought me those socks - they are amazing - would never have thought of buying them for myself. I no longer have to search through the wellies for one without a leak!

A new hand-sander. Lots of battered wooden floors which could do with some tidying up.

Just for my darling dog to come back to life. Miss her every day.

You could put something on the tree for her to remember and include her. I bet she was a lovely companion.

I’d love a cashmere jumper. I’d also love perfume but need to invest time in trying different ones as I’ve had the same for 20 years 🤣

I got an absolute bargain cashmere jumper in a charity shop, so warm and cosy. I live in hope of finding another one.

I bought DH some aftershave from Boots, they were very generous with the testers!

In the same boat as you. Maybe we should start a support thread for planning nice things to do.

And nobody to give me more stuff I haven't explicitly say I need and want, charity shops are full enough, as is my wardrobe and cupboards.
