What do you really want for Christmas?

I've spent the afternoon with a friend, and we've been planning our annual Christmas Shopping Extravaganza - it's become our default present to each other, brunch somewhere nice, a browse around the shops, coffee in a garden centre etc.

We don't actually buy much other than a few stocking fillers for our children, and a few little items here and there, but she asked me what I really really wanted for Christmas.

I said I would love a copy of Sense and Sensibility, preferable a dusty well thumbed paperback.

She wants a door stop.

Neither of us is being a grinchy bah humbugger, we're just quite happy with a little token gift. So what would you like?

I’d like a tartan thermos flask, 70s style.

OP would you be interested in my 70+ year old mums hardback copy of Sense and Sensibility complete with award plate that she was presented at school?

I'm just about to charity shop it.

Oh my goodness yes please

If you're absolutely sure then I would love it x

I've asked my husband for a pink Swiss Army knife and a new Patagonia trucker cap!

I spend my life decluttering as I hate stuff, so if anyone else is buying for me, I love champagne and scented candles, as when they're gone, they're gone.

I'd like the world's softest stretchiest cashmere socks. Currently on week 2 of lying in bed post op after breaking my leg badly. I cannot wait to be out of this plaster in time for Christmas, parked up on the sofa - sitting up - wiggling my toes in those socks!

A mug with ‘mum’ on. I’ve been asking for one for every birthday, Christmas and Mother’s Day since my baby was born last year but DH doesn’t believe it’s enough and keeps getting me “better” things. Might have to wait until my 1-year-old is big enough to choose me a mug herself.

Oh, men are so rubbish sometimes aren't they 🤦🏼‍♀️

The perfect slippers. Ones that are really cosy but with hard soles so I can pop outside to hang the washing up and not have to change my shoes.

Friendlygingercat · 29/10/2025 07:21

Two weeks away from my business with no emails or whinging customers saying their didnt receive their XXX and spoiled their kids/bfs/gfs christmas. Realistically will just turn off my phone and put the autoresponder on.

EleanorReally · 29/10/2025 07:24

a plant for the garden and a large pot

SandyY2K · 29/10/2025 07:27

I really want my brother to get better. He's very ill at the moment.

Dream world... an 8th day of the week whete in responsible for no one and can do what I like without thinking about anyone else. Or even just one day a month.

Reality... a new oversized blanket jumper thing.

Tripo · 29/10/2025 07:29

Read the title, came here to say ozempic because I'd give up presents forever to get it . Then realised people were saying actual, nice, thoughtful things that don't cost a fortune for months on end.

I see. I'll back out slowly.

Halfull · 29/10/2025 07:36

A bath. We have no bath and bathroom refurbishment is a long way down the list. So I’d like a big luxury bubble filled deep bath with champagne and fluffy towels in my own house! Realistically I think I want one because I know I can’t!

Attempt333 · 29/10/2025 07:39

A weighted cuddly teddy.

watermybegonias · 29/10/2025 07:46

Collagen. Or if I can't have that (!) the self discipline to do a proper skincare routine twice a day.

eqpi4t2hbsnktd · 29/10/2025 08:06

I want a camera

But its something you want 💐

Whether its 50p or £5k - its something you really want and I hope it appears underneath the tree x

I dropped a similar flask a few months ago. I was gutted.

I'd had it years, and the stupid thing slipped out of my hand when I was rummaging in the cupboard!

A Pure collection boyfriend cardigan as mine has fallen to bits after 10 years. A pink little sewing machine from John Lewis.

PiccadillyPurple · 29/10/2025 08:15

A breast reduction!

WinchSparkle80 · 29/10/2025 08:17

A good nights sleep! But I have a beautiful new puppy and she is totally worth it to train her. But just a good 8 hours would do me
nicely and maybe a Passenger fleece.

BeanQuisine · 29/10/2025 08:19

Don't really need anything at all. I have a big backlog of lovely books I haven't yet read, DVDs I haven't watched etc., sitting on the shelves making me feel guilty.

So just some nice festive eats and drinks will do me.

TinkerbellStarbright · 29/10/2025 08:23

Everyone’s saying such lovely thoughtful things. I would really love everything to just stop being such a struggle. I’m on fluoxetine, investigations for suspected endo, and money is so so tight every month. If any of the those could get easier I’d be happy!

I wish I could take you for a cuppa and give you a hug. I'm sorry you're struggling x

I’d like the perfect pair of wide-fitting jeans. Or, in dream world, I’d like someone to do a bedroom makeover for me, new furniture and freshly painted walls with really luxurious bedding.
