I'm taking a punt here that we won't need another thread before Christmas, but feel free to prove me wrong!

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

If you have any voucher codes to share (or want to check for any) then have a look https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212144-sharing-voucher-codes

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes here . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Stock informer is a handy site http://www.stockinformer.co.uk/default.aspx?fullsite=1

Camelcamelcamel is a great amazon price tracking tool http://uk.camelcamelcamel.com

The following links compare price products including postage
www.find-book.co.uk
www.find-cd.co.uk
www.find-dvd.co.uk
www.find-game.co.uk (as in PS4/xbox etc)

Is anyone having issues with the George at Asda orders? I’ve placed two online orders this morning. Paid using a gift card and debit card for the rest. I’ve had no order confirmations and the orders aren’t showing online in my account 😒😬

I ordered at about 8.30 this morning for click and collect and I can see the order in my online account but the email only came through 20 mins ago

Dinosweetpea · 20/12/2024 11:10

Debenhams order now placed! Thank you! x

hugsandpugs · 20/12/2024 11:16

There is a £2 bonus on top cash back today when you buy a gift card

Exactly the same happened to me; placed an order around 08:15am and only just received the email confirmation. I always screenshot the order number as I've had this happen a few times and then you have to go chasing up which just adds unnecessary hassle onto an already hectic time!

Fingers crossed you get sorted but they must have had an influx of people ordering.. on the bright side I've bought all our Xmas pjs for next year and more! 🥳🥳

hby9628 · 20/12/2024 11:36

Nearly ordered converse last night...then i didn't but now I am going to! I'm usually my normal size in converse but it says to size up. Did anyone else buy a bigger size? I think i might go half a size bigger.

Same! Doing a click and collect Monday for two sets of matching pjs for my boys for next year.

Did my wrapping last night and was feeling smug until I realised I have forgotten one set of grandparents 😱

What can I get my very elderly, 90s, grandparents in rl? They always say they dont want anything. My other set got the heated blanket, remy martin and the flying flowers. But the ones I forgot are richer, have those things already etc.

Help!

hugsandpugs · 20/12/2024 11:52

Thanks, the order confirmations have now come through… now having an issue with a top cash back gift card taking ages to come through though. Needed to place another george order but ended up paying with PayPal instead as I was worried the stuff would sell out. Now checked my bank and two pending payments for Asda via PayPal! When I’ve only ordered once. Not having the best morning 😬🙈 and my gift card still hasn’t come through an hour later, it’s usually instant so not sure whether they are having issues too.

I ordered half a size up just incase!

starrynight19 · 20/12/2024 11:55

Thanks for the converse link perfect for both DD’s birthdays in January.

Strangely, although it said the shoes came up small, when I clicked in to the size guide it said to order your normal size. I ended up just ordering my normal size. I've got the low top version of the same trainer in my usual size and they are a perfect fit so fingers crossed

I think it's because of the £2 bonus cashback - the section to buy the giftcards was struggling to load for me and has crashed at payment so no idea if it has gone through 🙄

Edited

I already used the £2 bonus one this morning as bought a gift card for my first Asda order so that went through fine but still waiting for my second gift card to be emailed to me. I had an order confirmation for the gift card and the money has left my account balance on my bank so assuming it’s gone through. Not sure how you get up your gift cards on the top cash back site either? With Jam donut you can look at previous orders and get the gift cards up that way…

@FilthyforFirth - a very last minute food hamper? Flowers with chocolates? Digital photo frame from Amazon loaded with family pics?

Lovely and upmarket handcream set for DGM? Slippers for one/both of them?

ChristmasJumperz · 20/12/2024 12:22

Argos has emailed me that they've loads of stuff on sale but nothing in my wish list has reduced so I am not sure where the bargains lie...

I was thinking a hamper, which shops will have them do you think?! Would m&s? I can go shopping this arvo once DH can take over with the kids! Bonus if its a shop I can use student discount!

BeaLola · 20/12/2024 12:34

What's a good set of make up brushes for a 17 year old, brand conscious

And is there an "in" fir lip balm for this age group ? TIA

If there is one near you, Lakeland have nice hampers in-store and you might be able to get a discount code somewhere. Pretty sure you can use discount instore.

Laniege (sp) lip stuff has been popular recently. Boots did have some good deals last week

PlanBea · 20/12/2024 12:51

I've also had a refund on my Morrisons order, sadly for the bellini for me and the cooking chocolate for baking with. But they have refunded on the full price, so it means my shop (4x pepsi, crumpets, and a drink gift for my mum) is being delivered for less than £3. Result!

That what I did. Was going to buy a size up but then the reviews said true to size so I split the difference. Now worrying about it 😂

IlovePond · 20/12/2024 13:52

I second Lakeland @FilthyforFirth or M&S. Or some branches of Waitrose have create your own hamper areas, complete with baskets and straw.

Gummibärchen · 20/12/2024 14:07

@Carrie76 I'd try Todays deals > Sort by , then choose the 'Get it fast' option from the drop down list

FilthyforFirth · 20/12/2024 14:25

We dont have a Lakeland sadly, closest one is half an hour away and traffic will be awful!

Am heading into town at 3 so will go fo M&s first. We do have a waitrose so that is a goof shout.

Thanks gang! Will report back if I find anything good
