I'm taking a punt here that we won't need another thread before Christmas, but feel free to prove me wrong!

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

If you have any voucher codes to share (or want to check for any) then have a look https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212144-sharing-voucher-codes

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes here . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Stock informer is a handy site http://www.stockinformer.co.uk/default.aspx?fullsite=1

Camelcamelcamel is a great amazon price tracking tool http://uk.camelcamelcamel.com

The following links compare price products including postage
www.find-book.co.uk
www.find-cd.co.uk
www.find-dvd.co.uk
www.find-game.co.uk (as in PS4/xbox etc)

Thank you for the Etsy help! In case anyone else is in the same position, this is how I worked around it.

The shop I'd selected items from didn't bring up a shop code box. So I put a different random item in the basket which did. Entered the code there, and got the message saying to try it in the Etsy code box instead. Did that, and it accepted the code.

Then I deleted the extra item, and the 50% still remained with my original selections. Success! Thanks all

Debenham's have free next day delivery with cide freedel, plus a 25% off certain items with code save25

Neither of these are working for me, does automatically give free standard delivery but is 5-7 days 😔

ZIGGY911 · 20/12/2024 07:34

Morning, what is eg just eat code please?

Brilliant, this has just worked for me, thank you.
So happy for the converse offer too, such a bargain

MayaTheBusyBee · 20/12/2024 07:40

@MyPithyPoster i sent it over

Talisin · 20/12/2024 07:42

MaybeItsTimeForMeNow · 20/12/2024 07:08

Thank you. I decided to sleep on it but luckily I read your comment before placing an order. Probably for the best! Much appreciated 😊

Just to throw the proverbial cat - I also have wide feet (often take an extra wide fitting) and Converse are fine for me. It may depend on where the wide bit of your foot is.

Oh, no. They worked for me this morning!

lifelongfrugaleer · 20/12/2024 08:02

DressOrSkirt · 20/12/2024 00:29

Yes I have wide feet and find converse unwearable

I agree. I have wide feet and they are awful. Also too flat for me. But I suspect that’s a me issue

IlovePond · 20/12/2024 08:04

@ZIGGY911 the JUSTEAT code: GROCERYXMAS

@Notlongnow1 - my order arrived and was fulfilled in full. DH was a bit surprised to see a JustEat driver on the doorstep at the crack of dawn, requesting a code for a load of Xmas chocolate, (he’d been asleep when I ordered on a whim last night) 😹

Hope yours arrives and without any substituted oddities!

Bippityboppitybooo · 20/12/2024 08:12

@MaybeItsTimeForMeNow To jump in, i don't have wide feet (that I'm aware of), and converse are the only shoes that have ever been too narrow for me. It sucks, they have some lovely shoes. I wear rocket dog pumps from m&m direct instead :)

FilthyforFirth · 20/12/2024 08:17

Interesting, I have wide feet and live in Converse, they are super comfy for me! I got a pair, thanks so much @hugsandpugs

Notlongnow1 · 20/12/2024 08:19

@ilovepond there are 3 items missing but they haven't taken voucher into account when refunding so all good! Now 10 items of festive chocolate I didn't know I needed for £9 🙂 will be useful to swap with neighbours etc who suddenly appear with chocolate 🤣

BigBundleOfFluff · 20/12/2024 08:30

First time posting on these threads - thanks @hugsandpugs !
Ordered both the black and cream for me - I have wide flippers too and converse are fine. First Xmas present to me.

IlovePond · 20/12/2024 08:35

Result @Notlongnow1!

I’m annoyed with myself this morning: I went to amend my Xmas Waitrose order only to find the huge and unwanted Veg Wellington that I had mistakenly put on my order instead of any meat cannot now be changed as it’s a special order 🙈

Waitrose didn’t email to warn of that deadline, so I’m quite annoyed.

DH and younger adult DS hate mushrooms, it may contain nuts so that rules out older DS and I keep forgetting I am supposed to be avoiding products containing wheat, (and certainly don’t want a four person wellington beast all to myself🙀)

As I am pretty sure there’s a rule against plonking unwanted ready meals on eBay, it looks like a result for DDog! 😹

At £12 it’s wiped out any ‘savings’ I might have made with JE 🙈

Hope no one else on here has made the same error with special food orders. It’s an expensive mistake and I hate waste.

NoWordForFluffy · 20/12/2024 08:55

@IlovePond, send it back with the driver, they'll refund it for you. Pretty sure all supermarkets allow returns like that.

IlovePond · 20/12/2024 09:06

That’s a good idea @NoWordForFluffyunfortunately it’s c&c and Waitrose, (unlike Asda), are really funny about returns - at least they are round here. Might give it a go, though.

NoWordForFluffy · 20/12/2024 09:07

It's definitely worth a shot!

You could check the date when you collect and say it doesn't have long enough sell by date for your event or something like that!

IlovePond · 20/12/2024 09:13

Now, that’s a definite possibility @elb1504 , (and likely to be true!) Thanks

This is working again now for me, the countdown at the top had gone to zero but it restarted again

Scout2016 · 20/12/2024 09:50

@MaybeItsTimeForMeNow I was going to suggest rocket dogs from m&m like pp

Carrie76 · 20/12/2024 10:53

I’ve now realised I’m short on stocking fillers for my boys. Is there anyway on searching on Amazon for things that arrive before Christmas?

LadyMacbethWasMisunderstood · 20/12/2024 10:54

I joined in early in the year then watched but didn’t post much.

I came on to say @IlovePond that Waitrose have a policy of always accepting back at the door any item you don’t want. Even special order. I don’t think I would do it unless I really had to but the driver should take it back and credit you if you insist.

That said, I’ve ordered the Wellington again this year (along with the beef one) for DD1 who is vegetarian. It is really lovely. One of the best veggie special ready meals ever.
