Posting on behalf of @reastie hope you don’t mind 🎄 🎅

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.
It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.
Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!
@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps
A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:
It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
No affiliate links
No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
Be nice or leave
If you have any voucher codes to share (or want to check for any) then have a look https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212144-sharing-voucher-codes
The current referral thread for sharing referral codes here . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.
To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk
Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)
So starhellostar would look like this.
hello
Obviously use the * not the word star
Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work
Stock informer is a handy site ^http://www.stockinformer.co.uk/default.aspx?fullsite=1^

@beetr00 @IlovePond thank you both for the suggestions. The seller on eBay had it up for £34 buy it now and £5 p&p for tracked postage but I cheekily asked them would they take any less. They’ve knocked £9 off so got it for £30 including p&p so well happy with that 😊🙏

Ooh seen your update

nice!!! Happy listening

Delahot · 07/12/2024 20:49

Can anyone help with the last bits I need please

  • a door wedge/stop thing (ideally metal)
  • noice liquorice gift
  • million aftershave for men
hugsandpugs · 07/12/2024 20:50

Actually, on the subject of vinyl lps. Can anyone recommend a decent turntable that’s not mega expensive? Currently using a suitcase style one and it’s naff keeps skipping all the time which is irritating when I’m trying to listen to music and I’m worried it will damage the discs

Thanks so much for the fab hand warmers deal, perfect for a friend with Reynards! My Deans hamper also arrived today and in perfect condition, will definitely use them again! I think I’m almost there, just one last add on for some friends- I’ve got them a cheese making kit, Emma Bridgewater star star plate(!), the edge of the border tin from deans ( they have a border terrier) and would like something else to kind of tie in- they do a star cheese in Waitrose but can anyone think of anything else please up to about £10?! Thanks.

Some posh red onion marmalade or chutney type of thing

if it’s not a Christmas present January sales would definitely come up trump id imagine.
if not, we’ve bought a fair amount of decent music stuff from cash convertors. All have warranties

AgathaChristmas · 07/12/2024 21:05

I would also love a Nio code if anyone has one please?

Serenitesanta · 07/12/2024 21:14

Help locating this sold out item please -
Summer Fridays The mini neutrals lip butter balm £24 - it’s a set of 4
I can’t find it in stock anywhere 🤯

beetr00 · 07/12/2024 21:17

@Delahot

liquorice

wedge

Serenitesanta · 07/12/2024 21:18

Help on this too
Laneige midnight mini set /£18
why did I not buy these a month ago 😖

MamaClausToTheRescue · 07/12/2024 21:25

@fishfingersandchipsagain @AsparagusGirl I posted about this above, but just note that a Nio referral code gets you £10 off a £39 spend, so you get a box of six cocktails for £29 but this way you can choose any six you want. Probably doesn’t matter if you’re buying for stocking fillers for others but if buying for yourself you might want to pick carefully 😍

noodledoodler · 07/12/2024 21:44

@AgathaChristmas did u get a nio code yet? Will pm you if not. Will pop it on vodafone thread if you are already sorted.

@pinkchampagne1 I'm usually so on the ball with Christmas. This year I'm all over the place. My Mum had a massive stroke in July, somehow she survived, but she's always been my partner in crime at this time of year. Stores presents, helps wrap etc. She's now in a care home so aim visiting her regularly, I'm now carer for my Dad who has dementia, so he can't help. I have 5 children, am 7 months pregnant, and my husband works abroad and isn't home until the 22nd!

How I'm going to manage it all, I just don't know.

Put the big things out not wrapped and stick bows on them.

These are great you put the presents in and pull the bow- wrapping done.

Sorry to hear about your Mum and Dad, I hope things get a little easier for you.

blahblonk · 07/12/2024 21:50

I just solved my two hardest to buy for people with this book subscription. It’s a lovely independent bookshop and the choices are excellent (plus it’s fun when they pop through the door every month)

not bargainous but it is, compared to buying stuff every year that doesn’t get used

Georgieporgie29 · 07/12/2024 22:00

Argh I’ve had a delivery from Very today, 2 expensive items. Have opened the package and there’s only 1 in there and the packaging is damaged so could have fallen out (been taken out). How good are Very in this situation does anyone know?

I have been offered one but haven't got it yet.

Serenitesanta · 07/12/2024 22:14

Thanks so much but it’s too much 😣
I don’t know why I didn’t buy it earlier -
It was 20% at £18, around £14.50 so £20 with that discount code is just too much - I know it’s only a fiver but it’s too much right now.
Thank you do much for helping though x

noodledoodler · 07/12/2024 22:21

Really sorry to hear this
Dont put too much pressure on yourself!
put gifts in gift bags with tissue on the top
Kids presents - tissue paper wraps round easily and can be sealed with just one or two pieces of sellotape
Alternatively, depending on age, get a couple of big boxes, put the gifts in unwrapped and surround with tissue paper, scrunched up paper, some loose sweets and some blown up balloons. Makes a fun “lucky dip” to find their presents
Get things gift wrapped wherever possible
Gift vouchers in small gift bags with a few chocolates
Use a different roll of wrapping paper for each child so no need for gift tags
See if there is a teenager nearby who will wrap up for you for some pocket money

ShinyPrettyThings87 · 07/12/2024 22:42

@noodledoodler to send a pm, press the little avatar figure where you get your notifications, press 'private messages' then the little pen/paper icon. Then all you need to do it write in the username you're wanting to message and leave a message. Hope this helps (too many lurkers steak codes so good to find out how to pm)

@Turtleoo @SugarIsHardtoAvoid @LOpportunityCestFuckingEnorme @Wellwhoknewthat Thank you for your suggestions, as you have guessed I usually resort to edibles! I bought him a heavy duty coat last year, (and previously the woolovers special offer jumpers ), he has lots of clothes, rotating them from best wear to farm wear. The heated ‘pebbles’ sound good, are there any particular recommendations? As do the sealskinz- off to check them and insulated wellies out!

Heated Pebbles type of hand warmers example :) https://amzn.eu/d/3mvLFMq
There are lots of these type of things on Amazon so have a look around on the day that you buy, there’s often an offer

TryingToHelpBut · 07/12/2024 22:47

There's a £29.99 heated throw on Debenhams with free delivery code at the top at the moment. I think the Asda one is sold out.

SugarIsHardtoAvoid · 07/12/2024 22:57

Just seen that someone has posted a better offer on for the rechargeable handwarmers - hurrah! that’s a really good deal at £6+
