Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.
It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Me either. I had a few items I needed but deliberately bought nothing. Two stores before 10 o clock and neither had any stock. The staff in one spoke to me like I was some kind of scrounger for even enquiring. I really don’t think these companies do theirselves any favours by not honouring any of these offers

I bought some expensive Lego that was on offer and when it arrived the box was really smashed to the point of it being open. CS were worse than useless. I honestly didn’t trust that a return would result in a refund they were so bad. I’ve ended up keeping it and have written out a letter from Santa apologising for one of the reindeers trampling on it!!

@TheChirpyWasp Staff were the same in my branch essentially telling me rather snootily that of course it wouldn't work as I was holding brown/black, and the offer wasfor black and they had used their stock very quickly. I suggested they put a sign up and she said they weren't allowed......so didn't buy anything in the end

Okay, so the Adidas mystery is solved. A PP was absolutely right, Simply Be have sent the Bold VL trainers, not the Bold Gazelles. I don't think they ever had the Gazelles. They look so very similar to my eyes, this was the issue.

So, if DC are specifically after Gazelles this won't work, otherwise they're so similar. I'm delighted with my black & white ones, and definitely keeping the grey & blue.

They were an outstanding bargain at £38.50 & £35 respectively, as Gazelles are £85-£95. I do wonder if the code taking 30% off the sale price was a glitch (a PP said Adidas was excluded), but I'm delighted if it was. A few others got the bargain too after I shared, so fingers 🤞 they've had theirs honoured.

Definitely the bargain of this Xmas for me.

(PS Also got an outstanding dress for almost half price, which I wore out tonight & everyone commented on! Double win 👏).

Oh & thanks hugs for the BoohooMan tip-off & code. It all arrived super fast today. Notoriously fussy DS2 is keeping 3 jeans/ 2 tshirts/ 2 shirts/ a jumper. Partly because the tall range fits him really well.

DS3's Xmas jumper is a huge hit & is very soft & good quality for the £6.92 I paid 😊👍. Brilliant.

Hmm ordered deans on 25th and seems others with same order dates arrived this week. Will keep an eye out for a few more days!

I ordered mine on 25th and it is arriving Monday. I did email at the end of last week and it had just been dispatched that day so my guess is yours will be here next few days.

That’s disappointing @TheChirpyWasp and @Unrulyrabbit - they should have had more stock in - running out so early in the day isn’t good enough. They also shouldn’t have been surprised when people came in for the offer!

The no7 staff were snippy when I asked for mine - ‘You have to buy something first’ and referring me to the T&C. Fair enough, but it didn’t have to be from no7 as I pointed out after a quick read. (I wonder if that was a mistake on Boots’ part and it was supposed to be ‘free mascara with any no7 purchase’.)

It also didn’t say on the main page that a purchase was necessary, and some people were given the product without being asked to buy anything.

I think companies should have more stock during these promotions and make sure all staff know how they work.

By contrast, JL obviously learnt from the free (Jo Malone?) fiasco on their Xmas promotion last year, when having very little stock and no substitute caused a lot of bad feelings. I didn’t get to JL until Tuesday last week for my free chocolate but they were ready with a substitute.

Had a quick search for goat stimulator on the switch for you and the cheapest seems to be Smyths with free delivery £24.99, unless you take a chance with an eBay seller for pence less. My DS plays this, it’s a fun game.

@Givealittlebit Deans CS seem quite on the ball, so I suggest emailing them for an update.

I sent a polite email enquiring as to the whereabouts of my order. I suspect I was then pushed to the front of whatever virtual queue they have going, as I was told it was being sent out the following day and it arrived last night.

@Moana123 I haven't personally bought from them but was going to get this set too. I'm not now I've seen Trustpilot. They sound terrible and given how impossible it is to buy this set anywhere else, my guess is that it would never materialise
