Reastie · 30/11/2024 11:54

One more sleep until December!! Get your Christmas duvets, stollen and mulled wine and the ready as the festive season is well and truly here!

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

If you have any voucher codes to share (or want to check for any) then have a look https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212144-sharing-voucher-codes

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes here . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Stock informer is a handy site http://www.stockinformer.co.uk/default.aspx?fullsite=1

Camelcamelcamel is a great amazon price tracking tool http://uk.camelcamelcamel.com

The following links compare price products including postage
www.find-book.co.uk
www.find-cd.co.uk
www.find-dvd.co.uk
www.find-game.co.uk (as in PS4/xbox etc)

I need help!! I don't know what to get my 6yr old daughter as her main present for Christmas. She first asked for a princess carriage electric ride on but that fell through and she's changed her mind. I don't know what to get her 😱 she likes the idea of the bumper cars but I worry it won't really get played with past Christmas Day. She loves arts and crafts and princesses and babies.
Thank you all 🎄🧑‍🎄🎅🎁

Or they’re expensive new, but I always thought Pony cycle ride ons looked lovely. There’s loads on Facebook marketplace near me for reasonable prices

Looking for any advice - I need to buy a small gift for my team, to be delivered direct and was keen on a small indoor plant (ideal budget of £10). So far all the plant-y websites seem to have a minimum spend of £25 for delivery of delivery alone is £6.
Anyone know of anywhere that would fit the bill?

I love Patch plants
the plants are lovely and the company seem lovely. They also do a plant recovery service for mystery plants that need saving (I’m a sucker for a needy one!)
I think delivery might always be a stinger unfortunately because of the packaging needed

Plant Gifts | Give a gift that grows | Patch

Plants make great gifts, so give a gift that grows. Our range of indoor house plants, outdoor plants and pots make a great gift for any occasion: Birthdays, engagements, Christmas, Mother's Day, Valentine's, house warming, or any other occasion.

Has anyone seen any nice pizza drizzle or oils sets anywhere please?

if you’ve a nice garden centre near you they often have them

picnicfuntimes · 05/12/2024 11:00

Having heard nothing since I ordered, I just got an email to say my Deans parcel is coming today. What are the chances of any of it being left by the weekend... it's meant to be a gift, but....

AnotherBreakfast · 05/12/2024 11:08

Thank you @BourbonsAreOverated - I did look at patch but need to send to different addresses as remote so min delivery of £25 doesn't work

Trainstrike · 05/12/2024 11:08

Batteries!
Not as exciting but any recommendations on where has good deals on moderate to good ones? I know I need at least 10 AAs and 4 AAAs but possibly more. I don't think they're really high powered toys but I know the Poundland ones I've had are usually only good for remote controls.

The joys of children's toys!

mogtheexcellent · 05/12/2024 11:17

@Trainstrike

I bulk buy from Amazon. I just got these as its what I usually order but I did spot batteries on lightening deals

We buy our batteries from Home Bargains, they always seem to be the cheapest for us.

I've used YouGarden before and they've got string of beads houseplants £10.99 inc delivery on Amazon.

They are also on ebay and have some starting at 12.99 but you have to search for them in the store rather than by category.

Justhereforthechristmasthreads · 05/12/2024 11:31

@Trainstrike

Amazons basics. Make sure you are buying alkaline ones not zinc carbon

These would do

Or for a slightly better one

These

watchuswreckthemic · 05/12/2024 11:33

@Trainstrike have you thought about the rechargeable ones? Have been a game changer for a friend of mine

Lidlisthebusiness · 05/12/2024 11:34

@PersisFord my daughter wants some customs too, and I had a birthday code but they're not valid on customs. Best I could do was cashback unfortunately.

Iluvchristmasbargains · 05/12/2024 11:43

@Georgieporgie29 , thank you so much for the white company discount, much appreciated x

Nio cocktails have a few Christmas bundles reduced by around 25%. Not sure what the packaging will be like, but seems a good deal to me.

Had an email from Royal Mail to say my hamper is being delivered today too. I ordered it on the 25th November, so 10 days ago. Now to find somewhere to hide it....

has anyone bought the Dior sauvage for men before? My son has asked for this but there is eau de parfume and eau de toilette both different prices I am guessing they smell the same? Just one is stronger?

Dear festive people, I ordered from soccer04 on the 18th November which was probably on the late side....but I haven't heard anything except my confirmation email. I tried to reply to that and it's a string of numbers so not sure it's a real email address. Does anyone have a contact for them or should I just hold my nerve?

Also any ideas if there is a way to get custom converse any cheaper? They have been lovingly picked and customised and are in my basket....but £85!!!

I ordered on 11 November and have just received today so fingers crossed yours will turn up soon. I did get an email confirming they had sent the parcel though with a tracking code that tracked with Royal Mail
