Reastie · 30/11/2024 11:54

One more sleep until December!! Get your Christmas duvets, stollen and mulled wine and the ready as the festive season is well and truly here!

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

If you have any voucher codes to share (or want to check for any) then have a look https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212144-sharing-voucher-codes

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes here . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Stock informer is a handy site http://www.stockinformer.co.uk/default.aspx?fullsite=1

Camelcamelcamel is a great amazon price tracking tool http://uk.camelcamelcamel.com

The following links compare price products including postage

www.find-cd.co.uk
www.find-dvd.co.uk
www.find-game.co.uk (as in PS4/xbox etc)

We get Procell batteries from eBay. I just got 20 for about £8 and they last well.

lifelongfrugaleer · 05/12/2024 13:10

I wish I hadn’t dithered over the deans hamper

IlovePond · 05/12/2024 13:10

Just popped into Homebase - I am sad it’s closing - awful for the staff.

Having said that, if your tree isn’t up yet:

50% off Xmas trees
40% off Xmas lights
30% off Xmas decorations

Not quite sure how I ended up paying a small fortune in there for a few batteries when I could have got them from my next stop: Lidl/Aldi🙈

forgot to say free delivery at Lakeland - code AFD5

useful for gifts and random house stuff!

Thanks for this! I only had one thing to order and begrudge paying delivery...

Dear festive people, I ordered from soccer04 on the 18th November which was probably on the late side....but I haven't heard anything except my confirmation email. I tried to reply to that and it's a string of numbers so not sure it's a real email address. Does anyone have a contact for them or should I just hold my nerve?

Also any ideas if there is a way to get custom converse any cheaper? They have been lovingly picked and customised and are in my basket....but £85!!!

I ordered back in October and it took about 4 weeks to come so hopefully be before Christmas.

Still waiting on my Dean's hamper, ordered on 25th not too bothered about waiting everywhere seems busy posting things out currently.

Really annoyed with myself that I didn't order this. It's OOS everywhere except eBay where it's £149! If anybody spots one or finds an alternative plse let me know

Smart ball is an indoor football trainer and was completely sold out last year.

Batteries!
Not as exciting but any recommendations on where has good deals on moderate to good ones? I know I need at least 10 AAs and 4 AAAs but possibly more. I don't think they're really high powered toys but I know the Poundland ones I've had are usually only good for remote controls.

The joys of children's toys!

The Works had Panasonic battery sets 8 for £1.00 both AA and AAA. Homebargains also had 16 x AA Energiser batteries for £7 in store yesterday.

Trainstrike · 05/12/2024 13:55

Thanks for all of the battery advice!

New Look have sent though Christmas crackers today, mine had 25% off - not sure if this will be the same for everyone.

Has anyone ordered from Dover Street Market e-shop? The trainers dc wants only seem to be available here but not sure if the website is legit. Thanks!

I have used them several times. All good.

Perzival · 05/12/2024 14:08

Does anyone have an argos voucher I could use please? I know shameful ask but spending around £60 and would be grateful for a little off.

Famousthehero · 05/12/2024 14:14

are people getting Celtic and co things this year?

I simultaneously got codes to 2 different email addresses

£25 off with NXMAS24

and

£20 off with LP20

offended on behalf of my second email address.

don’t think I need any special wash cycle wool socks though, unless I’m missing some hidden gem on the website

I got some lambs wool fairisle gloves for £10 delivered, and 2 pairs of sheepskin insoles for about the same in my second order. There wasn’t much else I fancied to be honest

I've just had a £10 off £60 spend code delivered for signing up to the newsletter. Just incase it helps anyone else.

I went through the codes on hotukdeals.

Reminder to check amazon warehouse (or whatever is called now) as the returns from black Friday week will be filtering through.

@Reastie filling up again.

BoilingHotand50something · 05/12/2024 15:44

I just bought a Degusta Advent Calendar but have I inadvertently signed up to a regular delivery? Does anyone know?

Edited to say - don’t worry. I found the answer.

IlovePond · 05/12/2024 15:51

@Trainstrike - £5.99 for 12xAA Duracell batteries in Home Bargains today, (which is annoying as I had just paid £10 for 12xAA in Homebase 🙈)

Re: Homebase

Be aware that due to administration they are not offering refunds, (otherwise I would have taken the batteries back!)

I received my deans hamper! Really happy with what I received, the black and white McCoo, tin mr perfect, a black tin with a dog on, raspberry blondes, Yuletide rounds, generic shortbread box and two of the cheese/chilli/savoury cracker boxes

Super good value!

N96 · 05/12/2024 16:43

Thank you to Thegoldgrind for the sensory retreats post. Anybody know if it is possible to get free delivery.

IlovePond · 05/12/2024 17:56

I have had an email from Dean’s just now - coming on Saturday via RM, apparently. Never have boxes of shortbread been the cause of so much anticipation!

picnicfuntimes · 05/12/2024 18:00

2 damaged tins in my Deans box. The tops were dented, but the 2 tins on top were not, which suggests they were sent like they rather than damaged in transit. Guess I will be eating those 2 not gifting them.
