One more sleep until December!! Get your Christmas duvets, stollen and mulled wine and the ready as the festive season is well and truly here!

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

If you have any voucher codes to share (or want to check for any) then have a look https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212144-sharing-voucher-codes

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes here . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Stock informer is a handy site http://www.stockinformer.co.uk/default.aspx?fullsite=1

Camelcamelcamel is a great amazon price tracking tool http://uk.camelcamelcamel.com

The following links compare price products including postage
www.find-book.co.uk
www.find-cd.co.uk
www.find-dvd.co.uk
www.find-game.co.uk (as in PS4/xbox etc)

Thank you for all the ideas for cinema discounts , I have thanked the individual posts , but didn’t want to appear rude by not publicly acknowledging.

hugsandpugs · 04/12/2024 21:40

Cash back has tracked straight away with TCB for boohoo man too! 👏

@BourbonsAreOverated

I wasn't slating them at all! I said I'd received a lovely email and that they had said they had been inundated. Absolutely no complaints from me and I don't think my post implied that there was, so don't know why I need to cut them some slack?! I've had great communication from them - just needed it by the 20th as some of it is for a school thing and school closes on the 20th. They said to email if it was needed before the 23rd so I did and it was all very easy going.

No sorry I was agreeing not thinking you were slating!!

@Spinningaround18 Scroll down the advert and lower down it's got the reduced price

Maybe this has finished as it's still showing £44.99 for me too, no other options further down the page, though you can get an extra £6 off if you sign up to the newsletter making it £39.

Serendipitystardust · 04/12/2024 21:46

Can anyone recommend somewhere to get a festive type afternoon tea with savoury bits as well as sweet. I usually use Piglets Pantry but have left it too late for delivery on the 23rd which is the day I need. Thanks.

Did I imagine it or did someone post saying the heroes, roses tubs etc will be at Tesco 6th December for £2.50?

I’ve read it somewhere but not sure where and no amount of searching Google will bring anything up

I'll be fuming if they are! I've just bought about 5 tubs for £3.95 (clubcard offer) in preparation for club staff/last minute panic gifts.

Iwanttoputmytreeup · 04/12/2024 21:53

@Spinningaround18 @NewShoes this is the screen shot of the first link the poster put....not the one with the contents on.

Iwanttoputmytreeup · 04/12/2024 21:53

Sorry didn't attach...

Hi, I can’t see any offers on wine at JL. Have they stopped or did I miss it? Thanks

hugsandpugs · 04/12/2024 22:00

Loads of perfumes and aftershaves on offer on secret sales website and an extra 15% off with the code BEAUTY15

e.g this brings Hugo boss red 90ml down to £23.27

Notlongnow1 · 04/12/2024 22:02

Just realised my argos code (£10 off £60) expires at midnight. If anyone can make use of it let me know and I will DM it!

jocktamsonsbairn · 04/12/2024 22:05

@BourbonsAreOverated 😃 sorry I must have read it wrong- been a very long day and I thought you were telling me off!! I've been really impressed with them! Hope you enjoy yours when it arrives!

Hohohopeful · 04/12/2024 22:06

My children have a switch. We have a couple of games, but haven't done anything online with it. Will I be able to download a game to it or so we need to have a subscription to Nintendo orr something? (Don't want to end up with a monthly payment for the sake of buying the game a bit cheaper).

Thank you- I've tried to work out online, but it's making me feel well old!

O
If anyone comes across a bargainous champagne gift that I can send straight to a recipient, would you let me know! It is for a very lovely but wealthy friend; Prosecco won't cut it! WineGin

Laithwaites have theirs on offer and Amazon aren’t usually too bad on price

You don't need to have a subscription to play online- like playing against others in e.g Fortnite (which is the whole point of the thing).

BUT it's advisable to have a Nintendo Switch Online membership as it backs everything up to a cloud, so you'll never lose game data or online downloads or purchases even if your Switch is broken or needs wiped to play again.

It's been invaluable as this happened to us.

You WILL need an online membership to use download codes rather than physical games.

It costs £35 per year, but that includes the expansion packs (extra parts to all games). You can buy it without the expansion packs but you'd need to see how much at the moment. They often have deals on.

HTH

You also get access to loads & loads of other games- older ones but still good.

Boohoo not accepting XMAS 15 or HEIST code for me. Can't see free delivery option either. This could be the worlds way of telling me I don't need to buy five new hoodies and a Christmas jumper.

Thelifeofawife · 04/12/2024 22:45

@IlovePond The JL wine/ fizz is in advent calendar form, so if you search calendar you will find them

The Xmas code is only for boohoo man…. Can’t remember if I put that in my OP about this, sorry if I didn’t

IlovePond · 04/12/2024 22:48

Thanks @Thelifeofawife - I’m not even drinking atm, but I do like a bargain 😹- I must resist!

Wellwhoknewthat · 04/12/2024 22:53
