One more sleep until December!! Get your Christmas duvets, stollen and mulled wine and the ready as the festive season is well and truly here!

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

If you have any voucher codes to share (or want to check for any) then have a look https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212144-sharing-voucher-codes

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes here . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Stock informer is a handy site http://www.stockinformer.co.uk/default.aspx?fullsite=1

Camelcamelcamel is a great amazon price tracking tool http://uk.camelcamelcamel.com

The following links compare price products including postage

www.find-cd.co.uk
www.find-dvd.co.uk
www.find-game.co.uk (as in PS4/xbox etc)

I ordered an electric toothbrush x 2 for hard to buy for adult sons. My youngest has just come in proudly waving the identical one he bought in the BF sale🙈 He did exactly the same thing last Xmas when I was going to get him a cuddle cushion, then one landed on the doorstep!

On the plus side, I had inadvertently guessed correctly about something he wanted, but now I have to find something else.

Any suggestions for small, (lack of space), adult stocking fillers for tech and gadget obsessed young-ish adult, (no alcohol or food or toiletries or board games).

I got the earbud cleaners that were recommended earlier - great idea! Any more like it?

Thanks so much.

Has anyone had any issues with the Olaplex returns?
They sent without the free gift so I returned - the tracking is not working and they are not replying to messages..... anyone else?

I'm sorry this doesn't help you at all now - but because I kicked up a fuss with the online agents wanting to return my order they sent me two travel size no 3s (the equivalent of the ornament) instead.

ILookingLikeABeautifulDay · 03/12/2024 20:17

So sorry to be a pain all. Someone posted a couple of new balance codes earlier I’m sure? I cannot for the life of me find the post. Did anyone catch them? Thank you!

Selfridges has half price advent calendars. Just ordered Scottish whisky advent calendar for £50 (rrp £155).

Too late, not there

TimPat · 03/12/2024 20:21

DD age 11 has just landed on me that she's joined a secret santa with her friends. Now on the hunt for a nice gift for a 10/11 year old girl who I don't know very well! Suggestions welcome. Budget no more than £20 preferably less.

Annexlife · 03/12/2024 20:29

@Timpat, my DD same age, just told me exactly the same, except her friend wants eyebrow gel!!! Since when did 11 year olds need eye brow gel! That aside I'd suggest a Laneige lip balm, with discount codes under budget, or hair clips (Oliver Bonas) or a jellycat on a clip for a bag. All would be a hit for my DD. Hope that helps.

The Brio advent calendar is reduced to £17 at Selfridges:

Annexlife · 03/12/2024 20:32

Just double checked the laneige gummy bear is £17:50 from most retailers without a discount code. I know that seems ridiculous for glorified Vaseline but there you go! ...and they are lovely!

IlovePond · 03/12/2024 20:33

Disney Princess Frozen a/c is reduced to £15 at Selfridges:

Also at Selfridges for £15, the Winter Wonderland a/c:

Has anyone ordered from just my look? Products are way cheaper on there but that makes me suspicious.

@Ilovechristmasfalalalalalala I've bought loads, including electrical items. All great, no problems at all

Trainer cleaners? Crep have wipes, deodorisers and all sorts. Give it a week or so to buy, they put their prices up for Black Friday and have a 30% discount off the higher price!! Or Amazon have the same make

Pinkladymel · 03/12/2024 18:29

Regarding Boots, just go in-store and take the things back or send back for a refund. I wouldn't stand for that, it's ridiculous!

They won't, I tried. They won't give me a refund on the lowest priced item as they say it was free, so the refund is £0.00, same answer in store and online. If I send all the items back I'll be down 3 presents instead of 1. I have told them that's rubbish customer service, in person and online, they don't care.

IlovePond · 03/12/2024 20:40

sounds like you need the Ariana grande cracker, and hope it drops to £14 again.

BourbonsAreOverated · 03/12/2024 20:45

Funko pop dc advent calendar
is down to £14.99 from £45. Might be good for filling crackers?

IlovePond · 03/12/2024 21:07

Ooh, promising @BourbonsAreOverated - he does - occasionally - like cooking, (although he gave himself food poisoning with undercooked chicken last time 🙈).

He also loves the microwave, (the rest of us never use it!)

On a related note: You have reminded me that eldest DS was overheard muttering about wanting a Japanese dumpling pan.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

I have 3 teenage boys and have bought bargain endoscope, shoe dryers, thing that makes holes in belts, nose hair trimmer, waterproof socks, bike lights, torches, face stuff, fluffy socks, jewellery, power bank, keyboard cleaning putty, face blotting sheets.

Isittimeformetosleep · 03/12/2024 21:20

HP coin advent calendar reduced from £59.99 to £9.99. Could be useful to split for stocking fillers?

Just read some else’s post suggesting make up - if you go down that route look at elf. I was one of the sheep who ordered when they had an offer - their eyebrow gel is great and only £3, and their lip balms at £4 - maybe with a lovely bag to put them in ? Or are they too old for Claire’s palm pals - they are on offer ? Or a box of bath bombs ? A oodie type thing ? Portable speaker - you can get nice ones for around £15 on Amazon.

My daughter is a bit older but in anticipation of her declaring on the 23rd of December that she needs gifts for her friends I have stocked up on pairs of earrings from Silver Rain.

My 6 year old has announced that the only thing she wants for Christmas is a typewriter! Anyone seen a toy one or cheap one anywhere without me having to go on eBay/Marketplace?
