One more sleep until December!! Get your Christmas duvets, stollen and mulled wine and the ready as the festive season is well and truly here!

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

If you have any voucher codes to share (or want to check for any) then have a look https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212144-sharing-voucher-codes

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes here . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Stock informer is a handy site http://www.stockinformer.co.uk/default.aspx?fullsite=1

Camelcamelcamel is a great amazon price tracking tool http://uk.camelcamelcamel.com

The following links compare price products including postage

www.find-cd.co.uk
www.find-dvd.co.uk

Same for me re Deans but I think they said posting after 2 Dec.

I have a question for arty people please - I bought posca pens dupes from home bargains and now I think I need card boxes for the recipient to draw on?? I’ve looked in hobby craft (amazing shop but all stuff pricey as top quality), B&M, The Works and The Range and can’t find a small selection of card boxes etc. Will I have to resort to Amazon? Don’t wanna spend more than about 5-10.

would be most grateful for any help. Gift is for 10 yr old. Thanks
😀

Baker Ross sell them - they do mixed shaped packs as well but you'd have to pay £3.95 P&P on order under £25. Having said that if you have crafty primary DC to buy for it is a dangerous website.

chocolatepudandchocolatesauce · 03/12/2024 14:32

Thankyou @Dormouse1940, I used your Argos code to buy myself a new mobile phone as my son knocked mine out of my hand in the summer and broke the camera. I can now take photos of Christmas :D
I had signed up myself but misread the use by date and it ended last week 😓😫🙄

Is there no boots £10 Tuesday today?

I'm struggling for my 10yo DD. I've got her some Lego, clothes, trainers. What have other peoples 10yo asked for. She loves football but the Kickabout interactive football we were going to get her is oos. I've looked at soccerbot but the reviews are dodgy.

This is the first year dd, also 10, hasn't really known what to put on her list, usually it's two sides of A4! She's put false nails and stickers bless her.

If any help we're getting:
Primark xmas bath bombs
Primark heatless curler
Fahlo tracking bracelet
Milkshake making kit off Etsy
Legami erasable Christmas pens and How to Draw xmas upside down book (recommended her last year)
Thermal print camera and scrap book
A Blackpink funko pop
A Robux voucher
A Starbucks voucher
An iFly experience voucher

Possibly a sticker making machine and Seamonkeys ( both Argos)
Possibly Sabrina Carpenter body mist
Maybe Olivia Rodrigo hoodie

I keep thinking it looks like we've got nothing compared to all the giant LOL and Barbie boxes we used to get her!!

I was going to ask if there was a Toca Social near you but I see they are only in London and Birmingham. Fun for football lovers if you are near, dd enjoyed a birthday party there https://www.toca.social/o2-london

Grandparents are getting one of these jigsaws if of interest? DD loves the butterfly one she has already https://www.amazon.co.uk/Unidragon-Wooden-Puzzle-Intergalaxy-Butterfly/dp/B08FX86SDM

I was just looking to subscribe to a Toucan Box but something is wrong with the website, have they gone out of business?

flouncymcflouncerson · 02/12/2024 21:40

I’m looking for gifts for some girls I went to uni with. Budget around £25, we’ve all hit 40 so thought skincare might be nice but I can’t find anything I like the look of.

Also looking for a backpack for myself to replace my lockdown walking one but having no luck!

@flouncymcflouncerson I can't help with the skincare stuff but highly recommend the Mia Tui bags - I've had several over the last few years and they are great; lots of pockets, bright insides so you don't lose things as easily as in dark insides, plenty of different size bags and different types and colours to find something that suits you.

They also have some good things that might work as presents for your friends - packing cubes if they like to travel, handbag organisers, good tote bags, nice makeup bags that are really well organised. Definitely worth checking out!

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 03/12/2024 15:04

I've a suggestion for a gift for people you love who like to be organised ... this from Stackers. I use mine when I go away overnight and want to keep my phone, specs and rings (fingers swell in the night) safely together on my table. Makes it easy when packing to see it's all together too. Plus I packs down flat for actual packing and storage.

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 03/12/2024 15:05

It packs down flat, I definitely don't Grin

Pinkladymel · 03/12/2024 15:11

I've just looked into Outsmarted and I've ordered the mega bundle for £34.99 on their official website. We love music and movies in our house and those packs are 9.99 alone never mind the rest you're getting in the bundle. I think it's a great investment and I'm saving it as a family gift for new year's eve to help us get 4 kids to midnight 😁😁

Check out to see if you have Scrap Store locally in the @Scrap Store Directory - some of them you have to pay a small fee to join (I know the Milton Keynes one does that I live near) but they have amazing things - both new and to recycle - for a great price.

When my dc were younger, I could take them there for an afternoon to pick up supplies for loads of craft projects for a whole summer and it would cost me a tenner. They collect things that companies are getting rid of (for example, locally Marshall Amps cut holes it pieces of wood that they make the amps out of - that they would typically have to throw away, which would cost them money but also be wasteful. The scrap store collects them and can then sell them to use them as wooden circles that people like to use in craft projects - at 20p a pop, so lots cheaper than the same thing at Hobbycraft or similar. Also they collect end of rolls of paper that were used by a publisher - lovely quality paper, but there would be lots of paper left on the rolls - not long enough to print on any further but for the £2-4 they cost at the scrap store the ones I had have lasted years and been great for loads of art projects... So if you could find a local scrap store you might find a great supply of art and craft materials to use!

@LittleMousewithcloggson

A 30s woman could be quite TikTok savvy, or fairly mature. I’d say that Monica Vinader and Astley Clarke are suitable jewellery for the latter.

For both types, tell your brother to browse the Liberty shop - there are some affordable pieces on there and all the brands there have cachet with that age range, in my opinion.

So my about to be 10 year old has asked for a Duns onesie and an insulated water bottle. I've also got some historical dressing up costumes, as she loves dressing up and history, and the book 'The Wolf-Girl, the Greeks and the Gods". Then in her stocking, I have good quality art materials that need topping up, or she wants to try in the next year.

IDontKnowWhatYouMean · 03/12/2024 16:25

Puffalicious · 03/12/2024 17:23

Does anyone know if Nike or Adidas still have codes that work?

Need the stacked Gaselles & a few teens tshirts. Much appreciated.

TopThreeFTW · 03/12/2024 17:25

@Ilovechristmasfalalalalalala I order from JML precisely because it's cheaper! I've even got their Advent. They're definitely legit.

TryingToHelpBut · 03/12/2024 17:40

I've had my aftershave delivery from Superdrug just now, as long as the tracking follows on tbc I'm thrilled that I managed to get it on budget (more or less) Thanks to whoever spotted that.

Waffles21 · 03/12/2024 18:02
