Thread 15 - the one where IT'S DECEMBER!

1000 replies

Reastie · 30/11/2024 11:54

One more sleep until December!! Get your Christmas duvets, stollen and mulled wine and the ready as the festive season is well and truly here!

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

If you have any voucher codes to share (or want to check for any) then have a look https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212144-sharing-voucher-codes

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes here . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Stock informer is a handy site http://www.stockinformer.co.uk/default.aspx?fullsite=1

@hugsandpugs my Cardfactory card came yesterday, ordered on the 27th

Literally 5 mins after I posted they arrived! Well happy with them for 1p! 😊

IlovePond · 03/12/2024 11:59

I’ve spent far too much over the last ten days and none of it has arrived:

Deans shortbread
SpaceNK order
LF order
CardFactory - but 1p, so 😹
Boots order - 2x electric toothbrushes

I am getting a bit worried.

IlovePond · 03/12/2024 12:14

The card has arrived - so one delivery down, all the expensive ones to go 😹

It’s a very good card for 1p! I got a photo one of the dog.

Thanks so much to the person who posted this deal.

IDareSay · 03/12/2024 11:32

Ocado also has most of their advent calendars half price, including Lego, Nivea, Fever Tree as well as chocolate ones.

Although when I tried to place an order for tomorrow, the ones I wanted all suddenly said OOS 🙄

Givealittlebit · 03/12/2024 12:27

Gutted, did a Superdrug order for perfume on offer. Perfumes been cancelled but the little odds and ends I ordered are obviously still coming 🙄

WeMeetInFairIthilien · 03/12/2024 12:30

I ordered the Dean's Black Friday offer, plus a gonk filled with shortbread, on Mon 25th Nov. Have heard nothing since.

shinny · 03/12/2024 12:43

Same for me re Deans but I think they said posting after 2 Dec.

I have a question for arty people please - I bought posca pens dupes from home bargains and now I think I need card boxes for the recipient to draw on?? I’ve looked in hobby craft (amazing shop but all stuff pricey as top quality), B&M, The Works and The Range and can’t find a small selection of card boxes etc. Will I have to resort to Amazon? Don’t wanna spend more than about 5-10.

would be most grateful for any help. Gift is for 10 yr old. Thanks
😀

shinny · 03/12/2024 12:44

Also saw lovely snow globe in Home sense - someone was looking - and some of the decorations were marked down in B&M but not the gonk cute soft ones.

Waffles21 · 03/12/2024 12:57

Hi @IlovePond and everyone else who ordered the Deans shortbread, I emailed them last night as I’d ordered one of the Black Friday boxes for my mil who is going on holiday soon. They said they’d been slightly overwhelmed with Black Friday orders and were working through them, mine is being dispatched today and I ordered on 24/11 so hopefully we’ll all get them
soon 🍪

Dormouse1940 · 03/12/2024 13:01

£5 off a £50+ spend at Argos. Expires tomorrow at midnight.
Code: ABXZTSDJC2F6

Hope this helps someone, and thanks to all who make these threads a wonderful corner of the internet!

AndSoFinally · 03/12/2024 13:02

@shinny you can use them on practically anything, it's just paint.

Wooden boxes are nice, or a plain white mug, or if you live near a beach, just a bag of large pebbles will do

The Works sell brown card boxes of varying sizes. Not sure if you can get a set of boxes, they seem to be sold individually, but they will be in budget.

Any recommendations for excellent but reasonable hand cream and face cream for ds(18) who works outside and is getting chapped skin Thanks

Ilovechristmasfalalalalalala · 03/12/2024 13:29

Has anyone ordered from just my look? Products are way cheaper on there but that makes me suspicious.

My DD loves this. My Mum, Dad and I have also used it over the years and it's great. The Burts Bees hand salve is also a favourite with DD as its a smaller tin so easier to pop in a pocket.

They did this to me but on the actual item, not just the box (a diary which is supposed to be a stocking filler from Santa). I can’t get the sticky residue off and the material is soft so I don’t want to ruin it 😕

Return it

Yes. DS 20 uses the sensitive version. Inexpensive, effective & smells good. DH recently stole some & is seriously thinking of swapping it out for his £££ one.

LoopyGremlin · 03/12/2024 14:12

How quickly do Quidco track. Bought loads yesterday, including the £5 bonus, but nothing tracked yet.

ChristmasJumperz · 03/12/2024 14:18

Bit less grumpy today after some successful irl shopping & glad the Etsy code helped someone yesterday at least!

Smyth's have buy one get one free on the LOL's that come in balls (I think it's all of those kind). DD had the Hello Kitty anniversary one on her list and already has the other version so I got the free one for the local toy collection.

Used my (acutal!) birthday £5 at Hobbycraft to get more for the toy collection and I'd won a Gregg's sweet treat on O2 yesterday so picked that up as well.

Sainsbury's has this tin of Cadbury's chocolates down to a fiver (with Nectar card) https://www.sainsburys.co.uk/gol-ui/product/cadbury-dairy-milk-380g
Bit niche but if anyone has Coeliac family/friends these ones are gluten free (normally standard Cadbury's dairy milk bar isn't so I love it when they do these at Christmas and make it in a factory without any wheat and I can eat actual Cadbury chunks not just Wispa's and twirls!!)
