Reastie · 30/11/2024 11:54

One more sleep until December!! Get your Christmas duvets, stollen and mulled wine and the ready as the festive season is well and truly here!

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

If you have any voucher codes to share (or want to check for any) then have a look https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212144-sharing-voucher-codes

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes here . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Stock informer is a handy site http://www.stockinformer.co.uk/default.aspx?fullsite=1

Camelcamelcamel is a great amazon price tracking tool http://uk.camelcamelcamel.com

The following links compare price products including postage
www.find-book.co.uk
www.find-cd.co.uk
www.find-dvd.co.uk
www.find-game.co.uk (as in PS4/xbox etc)

Hi I need to buy a snow globe. Can anyone recommend a lovely one please? It’s so hard to buy one online as I have no idea of quality or sizing. Has anyone bought a beautiful bargain? Budget up to £20? Thanks

They had lots in TKMaxx the other day, I didn't look closely at them but they looked like a good size and lots of choice :)

Sneezein3 · 02/12/2024 22:42

Sneezein3 · 02/12/2024 22:43

Rednosedeer · 02/12/2024 22:50

Thanks to whoever shared the Claires half price sale- just got £60 worth of things for £29 and used the £5 voucher too- bargain!

Not sure when it ends but but now anyone who has a full basket!

hugsandpugs · 02/12/2024 23:04

Anyone know if smyths are likely to do any discounts before Xmas? DD liked a bike on there but it’s full price now 🙁

WaitWhatOh · 02/12/2024 23:16

anyone any experience of those wine puzzles? Big wooden things you put o a bottle of wine and the recipient has to solve it before they can drink the wine..

would make a fun gift to add to some fancy wine Ive got for someone but they are £20 and I have no idea if they are rubbish and worth the £20?

@Bsgetty there's a seller called True_face who sells on eBay and Amazon. This one is £12.99 ATM on Amazon but check the eBay site to see which is cheaper. The designs same as Oodies are the genuine ones.

Edited

I've bought several if these over the last 2 years and all bar one have been genuine. I would recommend them.

Amazon reminder - tick the gift box if it's for someone else even if they won't see it arrive.

I am doing my bit for the environment and didn't tick it's a gift as the recipients are not here to see the order and the items have stickers on them which won't peel off. Some kids toys supposed to be from Santa...

Yep that happened to me too. The gift arrives covered in stickers. Used the hairdryer to get the stickers off but box is still covered in sticky residue and it looks like shit now rather than a nice gift. 😤

Ilovechristmasfalalalalalala · 02/12/2024 23:39

Sorry, has anyone got an argos code please? Spending over £200 but anything will help.
I know there was a post explaining how to get £10 off maybe but I can't find it.

They did this to me but on the actual item, not just the box (a diary which is supposed to be a stocking filler from Santa). I can’t get the sticky residue off and the material is soft so I don’t want to ruin it 😕

Just to quote myself, I found the original post as i had took a screenshot. Used a new email address and the code came through straight away!

jocktamsonsbairn · 02/12/2024 23:54

@iridescentsnowflake that's awful, send it back! Why on earth do they think this is acceptable?

RJnomore1 · 02/12/2024 23:56

I don't k ow why but the oversize hoodies at typo, which are. Supposed to be &50 half price ton£25, are going through at £10... just ordered a gudetama one for my oldest but tryed a couple which were all doing it.,,

ShinyPrettyThings87 · 02/12/2024 23:59

@Ssfb3 no, just a few hours on the line on a sunny/windy day dries it. I just shake/rotate it here and there and it dries no bother at all. If it matters, ours is a Dunelm one. Just use a cool wash to stop the fluff matting. None of the padding has moved etc. hopefully you'll find that other one in stock soon enough but if not, washing is an option, especially through summer.

RJnomore1 · 03/12/2024 00:00

Ok seems to only be Harry Potter, Rick and Morty and gudetama ones going through at £10

RJnomore1 · 03/12/2024 00:02

Aaaaaand it's stopped at midnight - must just have got lucky!

Abel and Cole have a brilliant offer currently.

@Midwintermayhem MiaTui do great bags. They're designed by women and have helpful things like a brightly coloured lining so it's easier to see inside and useful sized pockets. Bought from them a few times and always impressed.

Brilliant, thanks, that's 2 difficult people sorted!

This annoys me as I see their vans drive past my house, delivering to the rest of the estate, but apparently they can't find my postcode (the oldest houses have been inhabited for 2 years, so it's not like they're brand new and the RM database isn't updated yet).

I actually messaged on TwiX yesterday and I'm waiting for them to respond. Hopefully they can sort it!

Dinosweetpea · 03/12/2024 07:41

Is Abel & Cole a subscription? Do I have to sign up and cancel? Not v clear on checkout

Thanks. Do you know: can this be used for a one-off order, no strings attached, or is it a subscription that needs cancelling/pausing to avoid further deliveries?
