One more sleep until December!! Get your Christmas duvets, stollen and mulled wine and the ready as the festive season is well and truly here!

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

If you have any voucher codes to share (or want to check for any) then have a look https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212144-sharing-voucher-codes

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes here . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Stock informer is a handy site http://www.stockinformer.co.uk/default.aspx?fullsite=1

Camelcamelcamel is a great amazon price tracking tool http://uk.camelcamelcamel.com

The following links compare price products including postage
www.find-book.co.uk
www.find-cd.co.uk
www.find-dvd.co.uk
www.find-game.co.uk (as in PS4/xbox etc)

Sorry can't recall who it was but I know a few people were looking for Dunelm discounts.

There is currently 20% cashback via Topcashback. Today only.

Not the most exciting but looking for heavy weight mens long sleeved T-shirts, suitable for someone tall.

I tried Next and H&M, and thought about ASOS, but the choice is a bit overwhelming.

Zara had a nice striped one.

Ssfb3 · 02/12/2024 21:07

Very nearly finished my shopping! One of the last things I’m after is a cuddle cushion.
Does anyone know of ones that the cover comes off so you can wash it? So far the ones I’m finding don’t.

Justhereforthechristmasthreads · 02/12/2024 21:12

@Ssfb3 no idea on the prices but silentnight ones definitely have removable covers

Oreyt · 02/12/2024 21:12

@BourbonsAreOverated

I won't return and re order but I'm disappointed. Just one Pandora Charm alone was reduced to £28 when I bought it now it's £16.

Brilliant, thank you I’ll get searching for that brand.

Thanks @BourbonsAreOverated

ShinyPrettyThings87 · 02/12/2024 21:20

@Ssfb3 wish I'd known about ones with removable covers! But I've been washing my son's probably every month since he got it earlier in the year and it's took no harm. Only been line dried though so will wait for a windy day to do it again.

How long does it take to dry? It’s what’s putting me off the ones that don’t have a removable cover. I’d imagine they take days to dry

I’ve just looked as I bought several charms at £28 (with additional 10% off) and I would have returned them if they were £16
They are all still showing as £28 for me

flouncymcflouncerson · 02/12/2024 21:40

I’m looking for gifts for some girls I went to uni with. Budget around £25, we’ve all hit 40 so thought skincare might be nice but I can’t find anything I like the look of.

Also looking for a backpack for myself to replace my lockdown walking one but having no luck!

@notafruit my 25 year old DD is obsessed with the Maison Margiela perfumes. They are all based on 'real life' smells. You can even get a variety of miniatures if you are unsure.
I've posted a link to one here but the beach one is lovely.

JamJarBinx · 02/12/2024 21:43

I see a lot of cashback mentions but very frw mentions of vouchercodes.co.uk

If you join the vip which is free and make two purchases of at least £5 at one of the listed stores then you get a £5 voucher at your choice from a list including Amazon. They also do a lot of bonus vouchers and can be used alongside any of the discount codes on their site(which is usually most available) The vouchers take 30ish days so much quicker too and they also occasionally do windfalls including things like £10 back on a £15 Yankee candle spend the other day. Obviously check the cash back sites as well to work out which is best value on the day.

I just wanted to contribute as I've saved a lot thanks to this thread.

DeathStarCanteenGal · 02/12/2024 21:46

think Roka have a lot of their backpacks half price at the moment @flouncymcflouncerson
great colours and good quality too, nice robust bags...

JoJothegerbil · 02/12/2024 22:00

I need ideas for DB. Late 40s, likes cars, into techy stuff, owns a campervan but has lots of campervan related stuff already. Doesn't really drink apart from beer occasionally. Budget up to £30.

rhubarbhandsoap · 02/12/2024 22:04

notafruit · 02/12/2024 19:31

DD is 25 and has requested "some perfume" but doesn't know what she wants.
What's popular among ladies her age these days? Not too expensive, but nothing too cheap. She won't want anything with a celebrity name on it, whatever it smells like...🙄

The new Marc Jacobs Daisy Wild is mid-price, non-celeb, fresh but not ‘young’ and smells lovely 🎄

TherebytheGraceofGodgoI · 02/12/2024 22:09

@Ssfb3 this seems a good price in Argos, removeable cover

I found that one too but nowhere near me has stock. I’m going to keep checking everyday and hope it comes into stock 🤞

@Ssfb3 me too! If I find one elsewhere will let you know

Sneezein3 · 02/12/2024 22:29

Hi I need to buy a snow globe. Can anyone recommend a lovely one please? It’s so hard to buy one online as I have no idea of quality or sizing. Has anyone bought a beautiful bargain? Budget up to £20? Thanks

I always recommend uniqlo for good basics like this.

I’ve recently bought some that match what you’re looking for from Hollister. They do tall sizing but my 6’3” son also wears the regular and they fit lovely. Good quality heavy cotton and wash well. 30% off and extra 10% atm 😊

Sneezein3 · 02/12/2024 22:38

Hollister T-shirts

Here’s a link….I think?
