Thread 15 - the one where IT'S DECEMBER!

Reastie · 30/11/2024 11:54

One more sleep until December!! Get your Christmas duvets, stollen and mulled wine and the ready as the festive season is well and truly here!

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

If you have any voucher codes to share (or want to check for any) then have a look https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212144-sharing-voucher-codes

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes here . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Stock informer is a handy site http://www.stockinformer.co.uk/default.aspx?fullsite=1

Camelcamelcamel is a great amazon price tracking tool http://uk.camelcamelcamel.com

The following links compare price products including postage
www.find-book.co.uk
www.find-cd.co.uk
www.find-dvd.co.uk
www.find-game.co.uk (as in PS4/xbox etc)

I also have a £7 off a £75 spend at Argos. Pm if you want it

comewhinewith · 02/12/2024 17:47

Thanks @TheWeeDonkeyFella @ @Dolphintrainer - a voucher for an activity is a possibility, but he doesn't really like football and already has Go Ape vouchers.

Swingball & switch we already have. He's the boy who has everything!

bigchanges1 · 02/12/2024 17:54

Thank you for the heads up on the o2 priority snow globe - I won a Greggs Sweet Treat

FriendlyLaundryMonster · 02/12/2024 17:56

Re the Jellycats from Bigwicks (and anywhere else other than Jellycat), Bigwicks customer service replied to me to confirm that none of their Jellycats come with the dustbags. They said it's really frustrating as Jellycat won't even let them buy them. So, the only way you can get them in the dustbags is through the official site.

I feel like it's s just become one long, manic game of guessing and gaslighting and I'm sick of it. Things definitely need to go back to normal. My email box is literally giving me a headache and I am also sick of companies shouting at me, spamming me 2+ more times a day and patronising me with their over familiar "Hey dude, did you forget something?"

My only useful addition today is that Staysure have 20% off travel insurance until 5th December. Not particularly Christmassy, but I'm off to renew mine now and can highly recommend them (especially if you have pre existing conditions)

Edited

Also highly recommend Staysure. One of our adult DC had to cancel his place on our family holiday as he had Covid and they paid up fast no questions asked.

Please can anyone help? My DD has decided she would like a cashmere sweater, slight turtleneck in either cobalt or cornflower blue ! I need a 12/14 or M/L.....she wants it oversized. Any ideas??

RestitutionGranted · 02/12/2024 18:01

Any ideas appreciated for 12 & 10 yr old nieces who last year adored Oodie type wearable blankets - anything in that vein around the £15 mark appreciated as I already have gifts for them but would like an extra…

imnottoofussed · 02/12/2024 18:05

M and s and Uniqlo sell cashmere but I can't vouch for the quality as haven't bought it

Maybe ask on the style and beauty boards for recommendations

colderandeatsmincepiesalot · 02/12/2024 18:09

yes @imnottoofussed that might be a better idea :)

tootsnwoocake · 02/12/2024 18:10

Thanks for the Bluetooth shower speaker recommendations. Much appreciated. I like the Anker one personally, but DD now says she is looking for one that sticks to the tiles so Argos is a good shout.

Manyoaks · 02/12/2024 18:11

Hi, was there a separate thread about the Bridal Beauty charity boxes to avoid spoilers? I think it was mentioned but I can't find anything. Thanks

I have just received an email with £10 of a £20 spend. Apologies it has already been listed.

The bags are often sold on Vinted (I’m not a Vinted representative, honestly! My last post was also promoting Vinted 😁).

endlesscraziness · 02/12/2024 18:37

Deans stated that the hampers would be delivered later, from the 1st December until the 23rd December and if you need it earlier to contact them

random123456 · 02/12/2024 18:44

If anyone was after something similar to the velvetiser just seen Home Bargains advertising THIS one for £14.99

PlanBea · 02/12/2024 18:52

Quick question for anyone who got one of the Bloom and Wild little trees - was the box like the flower box? My recipient has had this delivered and it doesn't look like a little tree... 🤔

Distractiontactics · 02/12/2024 18:53

@colderandeatsmincepiesalot I would investigate pure collection: they’re more expensive but better quality and have 25% off at the moment, I think.

@PlanBea The website descriptions of both trees says it goes through the door so yes would say that's the box. There is a video of the box in the jingle bell tree description

Tiny tree
