Thread 15 - the one where IT'S DECEMBER!

1000 replies

Reastie · 30/11/2024 11:54

One more sleep until December!! Get your Christmas duvets, stollen and mulled wine and the ready as the festive season is well and truly here!

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

If you have any voucher codes to share (or want to check for any) then have a look https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212144-sharing-voucher-codes

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes here . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Stock informer is a handy site http://www.stockinformer.co.uk/default.aspx?fullsite=1

Camelcamelcamel is a great amazon price tracking tool http://uk.camelcamelcamel.com

The following links compare price products including postage
www.find-book.co.uk
www.find-cd.co.uk
www.find-dvd.co.uk
www.find-game.co.uk (as in PS4/xbox etc)

Sorry if this has already been mentioned but Bigwicks have 20% off Christmas jellycats and 10% off all the others.

They have the duck jellycat that a previous poster was looking for too, sorry can’t find who to link.

Thanks for this, but if anyone sees Bartholomew Bear with Bathrobe in stock anywhere please could you let me know?

how does Hollister come up for size ? my daughter tends to be a womens 6-8 usually but likes things baggy. thanks.

Generous
If you click on the sizing chart you can see a lot of the jeans and other bottoms are US sizing

My size 10/12 daughter wears a small in hoodies and a size 8 in jeans at hollister. A small in everything fits her

I think they are fairly true for ds - he’s an xl most places.
Just had a look at a quarter zip top dd got in the summer and it’s a small. She’s an 8 - 10 in a top and doesn’t like them baggy! She has a few woolly type jumpers and they are small too.
At that price I’d probably order two sizes and return one if not sure.

@weareallqueens I have DDs 8 and 5 and they both love the Mario party games. They are a 4 player board game on a virtual board with virtual dice, the winner needs to collect the most stars on the board, and then there are mini challenges against each other to win coins to buy items to help you around the board/sabotage others. There was a new one out a few weeks ago - Mario Party Jamboree - which we have got them for Christmas. There are also 2 older ones, Super Mario party and Mario party superstars. We have both and prefer super Mario party as it has more variety of games.

They also like the 4 player Mario games where you are playing together to get through levels, beat Bowser etc, they prefer the 2D style over the 3D style. Their favourite of those games is Super Mario Deluxe

@Bsgetty - real Oodies are on sale at the Oodie, with kids’ ones at £22.50:

https://theoodie.co.uk/collections/products#/filter:data-status:In-Stock/filter:data-size:kids

It depends how tall the child is - under 5’ and I wouldn’t recommend an adult sized one for safety reasons.

M&S do some good, thinner ones for kids from £18 and you can just buy bigger if the very oversized, longer look is required:

With Outsmarted does it have to be played on tv or iPad etc? Thanks

imnottoofussed · 02/12/2024 15:10

Yes you need a device as that's how you get the questions

Rednosedeer · 02/12/2024 15:22

Justhereforthechristmasthreads · 02/12/2024 11:41

@Rednosedeer it isn't so much marking it as a gift (this just means the price doesn't show on the invoice) it is making sure on the checkout page you scroll down far enough to see if there is a box that says it ships in manufacturers packaging and changing that to ship in Amazon packaging.

Try a hairdryer to get your labels off

Thank you- I get too excited when ordering to read properly!

DandelionDahlia · 02/12/2024 15:38

Costa Coffee have a free £5 extra on all gift cards of £20 or more bought online today.
I'm keeping my gift card for myself :) If you're more generous than me, though, be warned that the email sent to the recipient says "£20 plus £5 free on us", so they'll know how much you spent.

DennisSkinnersMolotov · 02/12/2024 15:58

25% off almost everything on Disturbia until midnight, great if you have anyone with alt/ goth tastes to buy for. I've finally treated myself to a dress I've been eyeing up for months. Just be aware that they charge for returns.

My brother wants to buy his girlfriend a bracelet or necklace for Christmas (I suggested earrings but he doesn’t want anything in a ring sized box!!)
He wants it to be from somewhere recognisable as a good brand - basically Tiffany’s at a lower level!
My teens are into Pandora still as well as Vivienne Westwood but that’s not really the right place for a 30 year old
Can anyone suggest somewhere? I’ve used Abbot Lyon before but don’t know if thats a recognised brand

Depending on her taste, Lucy Quartermaine is lovely and has a cyber monday sale today https://lucyqdesigns.co.uk/

Please help - ideas for a 9yo boy!

I've just realised that we don't have a 'big' present for our 9yo. He's really hard to buy for as he has a lot of toys/books etc passed down to him - and doesn't have the time to play with the ones he has as it is.

When I ask what he'd like he gets overwhelmed so I'm trying to get ideas that I can run past him.

Any ideas please?

Thanks, I did spot those but I’m hoping there is a rogue one in stock somewhere! Unlikely I know.

Thank you! That would have been great but the site wouldn’t let me checkout online. I wonder if it’s maybe not in stock after all - I’ve contacted them so fingers crossed!

ItWasTheBestOfTimes · 02/12/2024 16:48

Depending on his interests maybe a day out / experience instead of 'stuff'? eg if he likes football, a tour of his clubs ground, sometimes led by former players. We did this for a nephew once, printed the ticket and wrapped inside a club mug.

Don’t know if these are useful ideas for him:
Fitbit Ace 3 watch
Nintendo switch
Something like an archery set or swingball for when the nicer weather comes

Curry’s have a ninja air fryer for £100, and a special offer where you can add on a ninja blast blender for £24.99.

@LittleMousewithcloggson - another one to throw into the jewellery mix is Astley Clarke?

I have this rose gold lockett*

They have 30% off still and everything comes in beautiful boxes

Thanks - I didn’t spot this and it’s a great deal. I will buy one too.

just a heads up to anyone buying from Cutter & Squidge that you get an extra £10 off your first order (£30 and over) with a referral code.

i don’t know if this would stack with the 50% off vouchers but could be a great bargain if it works - worth a try anyway.

I’ve added my referral code to the last page of the referral board in case anyone would like to give it a go!

@MamaClausToTheRescue I’ve tried to use your referral code but it just takes me to the normal site, are you able to PM me it instead? Thanks!
