Thread 15 - the one where IT'S DECEMBER!

Reastie · 30/11/2024 11:54

One more sleep until December!! Get your Christmas duvets, stollen and mulled wine and the ready as the festive season is well and truly here!

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

If you have any voucher codes to share (or want to check for any) then have a look https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212144-sharing-voucher-codes

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes here . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Stock informer is a handy site http://www.stockinformer.co.uk/default.aspx?fullsite=1

Camelcamelcamel is a great amazon price tracking tool http://uk.camelcamelcamel.com

The following links compare price products including postage
www.find-book.co.uk
www.find-cd.co.uk
www.find-dvd.co.uk
www.find-game.co.uk (as in PS4/xbox etc)

Am I too late to jump on the Outsmarted bandwagon? You all got a fantastic deal a few threads back didn't you? Is it actually any good? Or am I being a sheep?

It’s very good
My teens play it a lot themselves just on their phones - using the virtual board
We have played with family remotely
We use the board version when grandparents are over as, although they don’t mind answering on the tablet, they are old school and think a board game needs a physical board
It was meant to be for Christmas Day after lunch but we got it out to try it and everyone got hooked!

Starabella · 01/12/2024 20:43

Hollister have an extra 20 % off for house members on top of the already 30% off reductions. Also when you sign up to their house membership, you get an automated £10 off voucher to use on top of sale prices. Then in addition to this, Quidco have 25% cashback today. I had an eye on a coat I liked which with reductions and already tracked cashback is costing me £39!

hugsandpugs · 01/12/2024 20:47

Still no tracking for me for Superdrug or Nike on TCB & my JD sports order from the other day has incorrectly tracked as £0.00 but it won’t let me do a claim for that 👎

RainbowPhilosophy · 01/12/2024 20:50

Has anyone seen a deal on a talking Rex from Toy Story toy please? They have them in Argos and Smyths etc but they are £40 which is out of budget. Or a code for anywhere that sells them that would work on it? Thank you 😊

Has anyone got/can recommend an electric trainer/boot dryer? I can only find them on Amazon and even then not sure which will have a uk plug etc

But would be perfect for my DBro and his soggy running trainers

Haven't fully caught up so apologies if already answered but we have this one & love it. I think I paid £26 for it last year so a bit cheaper than it is now but still worth it!

Silver by mail has some sterling silver earrings for £7-£8 https://www.silver.uk.com/collections/clearance-sale

Or have a look at TK Maxx. They have some very reduced sterling silver at the moment.

@IlovePond

Even better and you can benefit alongside the Cashback sites is airtime rewards.

If your mobile provider is with it you just register your cards then if any of their retailers are doing Cashback you qualify automatically provided it's a transaction of £5 or more. Nothing to click on first it's all in the background. They often do monthly challenges for example, do 5 transactions a month then get a bonus so worth checking the app on occasion.

Then once you've tracked £10 you redeem it off your phone bill.

There's codes on the referrals board so you can get a sign up bonus (unfortunately my provider isn't with them so I don't have one to post Grin).

Apologies if you already have this and I'm preaching to the converted Grin

SingaporeSlinky · 01/12/2024 21:12

Annoyingly the stuff I bought in H&M on Friday with 20% off is now 40% off for Cyber Monday. As others have said, I’m finding the reductions confusing!

handmademitlove · 01/12/2024 21:18

@Cupofteaandbiscuits we had some towels from Primark which actually lasted really well! Also Dunelm....

Moonshine5 · 01/12/2024 21:24

Would one of you lovely people kindly please pm me an Arsenal Direct website code please (student discount or any discount code) thanks

Fuckingfuckssake · 01/12/2024 21:30

@Cupofteaandbiscuits George at Asda always have decent bedding and towels, I buy the bulk of mine there.

sillygoof · 01/12/2024 21:32

Has anyone seen Cats vs Pickles anywhere in shops? We’ve got some Christmassy ones that have come out of the loft with the decorations and I’d forgotten how much DD loves them, I’d love to get her some year round ones.

Usernamepleasework · 01/12/2024 21:36

Look for some help please…
so after not being interested in the heated throws way back at the start of these threads I now really want one for my mums Xmas. I missed the lidl ones last week and also the Asda back Friday ones not doing very well am I. Amazon is overwhelming for choice and reviews are a hit or a miss. Look to spend £30? 😆

IlovePond · 01/12/2024 21:43

Ooh, thanks @tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz - I shall check it out!

Not quite as good an offer as before but Outsmarted website has good deals on their packages and CART10 will give you a further 10% off

Alternatively Amazon have the basic package £19.99 and you can purchase any additional categories for 99p through the outsmarted website

Home Bargains had some of the Cats vs Pickles Chonks for less than £2 but it was a little while ago so I'm not sure if they're still there. They also have the Dogs vs Squirls cheap if it doesn't have to be cats and pickles specifically!

PeoniesAreMyFavouriteFlower · 01/12/2024 22:25

This is a boring one!!
DH and I get each other things we need for Xmas as money is tight. We need some new towels and bedding! Where is a good place that’s cheap to get these? Ideally with a discount! X

I'd look on the next clearance section, love the bedding we've had from there.

Good morning. Can anyone recommend a decent but bargainous blue tooth shower speaker. It’s for teen DD. There are so many out there so a recommendation would be much appreciated. Thanks!

My teens have these which they are really pleased with:

They are fine for showers - just can’t be fully submerged in water.
