Reastie · 30/11/2024 11:54

One more sleep until December!! Get your Christmas duvets, stollen and mulled wine and the ready as the festive season is well and truly here!

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

If you have any voucher codes to share (or want to check for any) then have a look https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212144-sharing-voucher-codes

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes here . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Stock informer is a handy site http://www.stockinformer.co.uk/default.aspx?fullsite=1

Camelcamelcamel is a great amazon price tracking tool http://uk.camelcamelcamel.com

The following links compare price products including postage
www.find-book.co.uk
www.find-cd.co.uk
www.find-dvd.co.uk
www.find-game.co.uk (as in PS4/xbox etc)

Any recommendations for websites for cheap silver jewellery? DD has a £15 budget for secret santa and wants to get her friend some earrings. She does like some of the ones on HotDiamonds but I don't think there are any stacking codes at the moment,

Me and dd love the earrings from Silver Rain on Etsy. Free delivery too

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 01/12/2024 17:25

Can anyone remember the Celtic code for £25 off?

Scout2016 · 01/12/2024 17:26

@thehousewiththesagegreensofa I have had earings from Silver Rain before which have been OK. Look to have 10% off first orders with code WELCOME10 and 15% off £20 spend silverrainsilver.com/

Has anyone got/can recommend an electric trainer/boot dryer? I can only find them on Amazon and even then not sure which will have a uk plug etc

But would be perfect for my DBro and his soggy running trainers

I bought the snowpea ones from Amazon which were recommended on here and they have been great for wet walking boots and sweaty trainers 🤮. They are currently £19.54

@tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz I think it's NXMAS24

Has anyone mentioned that GoApe have 25% off their gift vouchers? Our DC have received them in the past and been delighted

It can work out cheaper via Buyagift if you also use Quidco 25% cash back as codes should work with cashback. Currently they have 20% off on their site but they quickly sent me a 24% off voucher when I put it in my basket and left for about 30 mins!

Please I could help @Mistletones ds15 loves the shop

ShinyPrettyThings87 · 01/12/2024 18:23

@Chocolateteabag another vote for Snowpea! The one I have has a 3hr, 6hr, 9hr timer on too so don't need to worry about leaving it on overnight/going out. It's a low steady heat so never need to worry about overheating.

MilkyBadBoy · 01/12/2024 18:24

@ConsuelaHammock This was the link someone shared previously for the coffee pod converter.

Also have my eye on it!

PosyStarling · 01/12/2024 18:28

Buckley London have 35% off all jewellery with code BLACKFRIDAY35 - their sorting facility is frankly terrible but @thehousewiththesagegreensofa might find some silver earrings within budget?

15% off everything at The Real Pie Co - no code needed as far as I can see pies

15% off Harry Specter chocolate with code BFCMC24 - chocolates

Saltrock have 50% off sitewide - good for outdoor clothes and accessories - plus you may get another code to stack (I got an extra couple of quid off with code CS10). outdoor stuff

If anyone can advise on a decent electric toothbrush for kids, I'd be very grateful! The DC are 9 so some of them seem a bit babyish (they're past the Spiderman stage, etc) - Boots has an Oral B Vitality Pro and a kids version but I have no idea which would be better - or indeed a completely different brush?! The kids version is £10 more as well, for reasons I can't fathom...

@choc27 don’t sign up to Nintendo to purchase. If you use his details it will load.Is it important you give the game specifically? You could give Nintendo vouchers (I think). Check out CDKeys, available through TopCashback, I don’t think it’s on offer at the moment but has been. Could you try CEX or Game for second hand? I’ve done this with Xbox and it was great, they will know about Nintendo.

If I give vouchers though, the £15 deal will have ended by the time he buys it. It probably has already ended now to be fair. Think today was the last day. I will look second hand, thanks for the idea.

Pandora have an extra 10% off for myPandora members and free delivery. Just bagged a really nice charm for my niece for just over £10!. Don't forget Quidco (like I did) for cash back to make it even more bagainous

Can anyone recommend a cheaper pod which can be adapted for the bargain coffee machine we all ordered ?

I can’t help you, but I’m interested in the answer too.
I'm sure someone posted a converter pod you can get on eBay.
Nesprrsso have the pods on offer at the moment (on their website) but they are still really expensive.
I love the machine and coffee though 😍

TryingToHelpBut · 01/12/2024 18:52

Oh you are all going to hate me but what was the name of the person you found selling the cashmere wrist warmers again? I've realised I think they will be a good gift for a colleague. Otherwise I'm a bit stumped - want to get her something lovely but it can't be booze, food, beauty/jewellery , candles, stationary or mugs. It rules out a lot when you don't know someone very well.

One of the earlier threads had me buying off Moll's Handmade, I'm really pleased with them, cute little earrings and they appear to be minutes from launching a sale.

This is a boring one!!
DH and I get each other things we need for Xmas as money is tight. We need some new towels and bedding! Where is a good place that’s cheap to get these? Ideally with a discount! X

TryingToHelpBut · 01/12/2024 18:57

Also, that coffee converter doesn't actually specify what it's converting for. We want one that specifically turns old style Nespresso pods into vertuo pods. That one linked doesn't look quite the right shape. We've had the vertuo machine for about 2 years and it is so much more expensive than the old style now.

I haven’t caught up with the thread, apologies if someone has already suggested them. I have used iFoodsUK a few times (more so for pick and mix) but they stock American candy and have always been really good when I’ve ordered.

I've also used them for the last few years. I put together an advent calendar for DH each year of random sweets from around the world. I always find them to be the most reasonably priced, with the best selection. Quick delivery too.

Oreyt · 01/12/2024 20:04

Hi. I asked on thread 4 or 5. Can someone explain cash back? Please I always decline it.

Am I too late to jump on the Outsmarted bandwagon? You all got a fantastic deal a few threads back didn't you? Is it actually any good? Or am I being a sheep?

No it’s really good. Pretty much the only thing my teens will play. People can join remotely and the questions are bang up to date.

IlovePond · 01/12/2024 20:40

@Oreyt - I think people on here are usually talking about TopCashback and/or Quidco rather than those things that pop up after a purchase inviting you to pay to join some scheme and then get some money as a reward, (I always ignore these).

I ignored TCB and Quidco for years because I couldn’t get my head around the idea. Now I have signed up, I am embarrassed it took so long.

Basically: Sign up to TCB and/or Quidco. You can use one of the referral codes on the referral thread or just join independently here:

https://www.topcashback.co.uk/

https://www.quidco.com/

Instead of logging straight on, for example, to Boots, you log into TCB then put Boots in the search retailer box, then that takes you to the Boots site as usual. Do your shopping at Boots then hopefully get a tiny bit of money back at some point from TCB. You have to accept all cookies.

If this isn’t what you meant, apologies!
