Thread 13 - the one where I'm dashing for the school run!

1000 replies

Reastie · 22/11/2024 07:25

Apologies for the rubbish title - I'm trying to get the kids ready and don't want my daughter to miss the bus!

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

If you have any voucher codes to share (or want to check for any) then have a look https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212144-sharing-voucher-codes

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes here . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

@ChristmasJumperz I’ve used Space Sweets for freeze dried sweets and can recommend. Good selection to try and they’re doing Black Friday deals.

Just wanted to say thanks to whoever recommended The Night Store a couple of threads back. Just got these delivered today and they are fabulous!

I was one of the people who recommended the Night Store. We got our pyjamas from there this time last year and they are still looking fabulous.

Not sure if it's been mentioned, but I've just had an email saying Argos have 20% off lego advent calendars

notenoughtogoround · 23/11/2024 07:50

Hi, does anyone have a code for Lakeland at all please? Thank you!

RainbowZebraWarrior · 23/11/2024 07:53

bigchanges1 · 23/11/2024 07:14

Whistlefish have a deal for 20 cards for £10.

I think this stacks with the 20% off new customer deal (subscribe to their emails for this) and also don't forget it's free delivery over £25. Their teatowels are also gorgeous and currently on 2 for £10

Minihero · 23/11/2024 08:10

25% off everything at Tu Sainsbury's including Christmas PJs

BambiBambi44 · 23/11/2024 08:12

Right am going to really start today. I've bought loads in BF deals but it's all house stuff, no presents yet!

Excitingly I realised we needed new fire alarms yesterday and the nest ones I needed were in BF deal which feels like a good omen as we obviously would have had to just buy them anyway!

Can I ask about White Fox? Is it still fashionable for preteens?

And finally if anyone else has a reader in the family who is impossible to buy for, I got this book subscription for my dad last year who loved it a d will be getting it again. He's had book subscriptions before but says these are much more personalised, the only dud book he has had was one he had already read and he took it in and they just exchanged it for him. https://backstory.london/products/subscription

My pre-teen has asked for a White Fox hoodie so I think it's still on trend!

Has anyone seen any good deals on decent food flasks? I keep looking the nit deciding. AND I forgot to collect my headphones stands from Argos 🫤. My best bargain. Forgotten as I was poorly

I got my daughter a food flask for her stocking from SHO a couple of years ago, they're great and she uses it for school sometimes, keeps food nice and hot (and can be used for cold things too). I also have one by Thermos which had for years which is also great but much prefer the SHO one, wider neck, easier to fill, lovely range of colours, I got the purple, it's still immaculate condition too, great quality.
Think I'm going to get one each for my 2 boys this year as well. SHO currently have 25% off for Black Friday.

Sparkles23 · 23/11/2024 08:26

Sorry should have put the code for SHO is SHOBLACK at checkout for the 25% off

handmademitlove · 23/11/2024 08:27

@MammaGnomes we asked about the deals when we were in Pandora a few weeks ago as we didn't want to buy until the return window for Christmas had started. They told us that the deal was pretty longstanding and that if it disappeared it would be replaced by something similar. As others have said, we are expecting either a further deal actually on black Friday, or for the deal to return after that but before Christmas. Hold your nerve!

Minihero · 23/11/2024 08:29

WimbyAce · 22/11/2024 14:03

What are the best sites these days please to get things with a tv/film theme? For example if I was buying something star wars, avengers, goonies related?

Character.com

MammaGnomes · 23/11/2024 08:31

Thanks @handmademitlove @DressOrSkirt That's good to know I'll hold my nerve and wait and see what actual BF has to offer

Lazza24 · 23/11/2024 08:33

Morning! Can anyone help with an Argos code they don’t need? Just about to place an order for £85.

ignore me……found one!

I think you would need to ask your preteen if they would want one!

I just brought it up in conversation with mine and she was very adamant that no she didn't want one. She mentioned something like pink puff (I forgot the name!) was very popular now but she would rather a hoodie with Olivia Rodrigo or Noah Kahn on. I did the same with the sol de jenero fragrances and she had smelt and liked them but she wanted a perfume in particular Arianna Grande but also liked the sol scents. She's also asked for some makeup, various books, Wicked or Wednesday crocs, pin badges for her blazer, singer stickers, crystal bracelets, my dd is 12 if that helps.

These are TOP TIPS thank you!!! She is 11 so pretty close, I'll try to drop it in conversation casually.

Oh, really sorry, can't work out how to post an amazon link! Thought you just copy and pasted it! Oops!

lifelongfrugaleer · 23/11/2024 09:15

The poster asking about spicery refills. They do a full set of refills but you can buy each pouch individually in case you use more of one spice than another. They automatically apply a few 5 or 10 % off in a multi buy. It’s usually the only way

itsimpossibletochooseausername · 23/11/2024 09:26

Can anyone tell me the best place to get wrapping paper? I don't want to spend a fortune but also don't want the stuff that tears as soon as you touch it.
Sorry for such a mundane question and thanks for all the great tips I am getting from you.

BeFluentNavyBee · 23/11/2024 09:32

Does anyone know if Roka bags are doing any Black Friday offers this year please? Been waiting all year after missing last year's offers!
Also are there any codes for free delivery at Pandora? I hate paying for delivery! Thank you 😊

BeFluentNavyBee · 23/11/2024 09:36

Oh and I got some lovely earrings from The Jewellery Box last year, after a recommendation on here. Filled my bag this year, but waiting for offers, if anyone hears of anything it would be much appreciated.

Ilovechristmasfalalalalalala · 23/11/2024 09:41

There is wicked beauty products, socks etc on claires which are still running the buy 3 get 3 free.
On that note is there anyone with a student discount code please?
