Thread 13 - the one where I'm dashing for the school run!

1000 replies

Reastie · 22/11/2024 07:25

Apologies for the rubbish title - I'm trying to get the kids ready and don't want my daughter to miss the bus!

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

If you have any voucher codes to share (or want to check for any) then have a look https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212144-sharing-voucher-codes

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes here . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Yeah me too! 😡

Hey all,

Joining very late this year!! I have started - loads of PJs in Sainsbury's last 25% & Sparks 15% . Seem to have asked for PJs/ onesies- practical as they get so much!

Looking for any deals on these:

Nike
Adult Lego
Switch games
Vbucks
Valentte- best offers?

And ideas for my lovely neighbour. She is awesome & does lots for us. I've already bought nice pjs & books for the 3 grandkids, but stumped what to get her & her husband. Previous years I've done: Emma Bridgewater personalised mugs/ Alessi funky kitchen ware/ Valentte set/ comedy tickets/ restaurant voucher. I need ideas!! They like music/ cooking, but have every bit of equipment/ all vinyl etc you could imagine. And their house is beautiful- so nothing needed there. They have cats, though.

Thanks!

Just been on the Vans website- loads of offers, up to 50%

Passenger only have some offers, but are doing Green Friday where they plant a tree with every order.

hugsandpugs · 22/11/2024 23:42

Treat kitchen have quite a few bits in their sale and when you spend £10 the code FREEPOSTAGE works saving £2.99 on shipping!

They also have some short dated bread/pizza mix down to 95p instead of £4.50

Im so annoyed with myself. I had a Pandora bracelet and 2 charms in my basket on the £99 offer and thought I'll wait for BF to see if it's any cheaper expecting the £99 offer to still be there too.

The same bracelet and charms is £5 dearer and the £99 offer is nowhere to be seen! My mum and SIL have bought daughter charms already so I'm going to have to buy it.

It's not black Friday till next week, 29th November, so they may still have some kind of deal on similar to this then.

Carrie76 · 23/11/2024 00:13

@someaddedsugar thanks so much for the unidays code on the previous thread I’ve just found it!

Tomorrowisyesterday · 23/11/2024 00:42

Xbox wireless controllers in various colours on Amazon just now for just under £40

DressOrSkirt · 23/11/2024 00:47

@MammaGnomes the £99 deal will be back after black Friday, this offer is on year round with different charms. I would guess there will also be something better on Black Friday for just one day, whether that's a GWP or extra discount. (I used to work in Pandora).

hby9628 · 23/11/2024 01:04

@HoffiCoffii agree with the other poster. The £99 deal is quite regular. They might have removed it and put items on sale individually

Lidlisthebusiness · 23/11/2024 01:11

Does anyone know of a discount on designed Converse? They have 40% off on some styles, but my daughter would love some customs.

BoilingHotand50something · 23/11/2024 06:59

@MammaGnomes i received my order from Solace no problem, but when it arrived, I was thrown a little. The necklaces I ordered were in little plastic bags, and the earrings lucky dip were in little grey pouches but they at first seemed empty as they were so light. Also got the sweets and the thank you. I hope you can get it sorted. They are lovely products.

bigchanges1 · 23/11/2024 07:14

Whistlefish have a deal for 20 cards for £10.

gaggiagirl · 23/11/2024 07:19

@ChristmasJumperz home bargains sells the freeze dried sweets. Gummy worms, foam bananas and Skittles. They are about £1.50 a bag. There's a corner shop near me sells about 10 freeze dried Skittles for £6 and people pay that, so home bargains is truly a bargain.

Broken12 · 23/11/2024 07:19

ChristmasJumperz · 22/11/2024 22:25

I keep reading about freeze dried sweets being all the rage this year. I can see plenty online but as anyone come across any irl? ta

If there's any left, the ones Aldi do in the middle aisle are decent. Or thermos - picked up ours from Tesco last year and it's really good

PersisFord · 23/11/2024 07:38

Right am going to really start today. I've bought loads in BF deals but it's all house stuff, no presents yet!

Excitingly I realised we needed new fire alarms yesterday and the nest ones I needed were in BF deal which feels like a good omen as we obviously would have had to just buy them anyway!

Can I ask about White Fox? Is it still fashionable for preteens?

And finally if anyone else has a reader in the family who is impossible to buy for, I got this book subscription for my dad last year who loved it a d will be getting it again. He's had book subscriptions before but says these are much more personalised, the only dud book he has had was one he had already read and he took it in and they just exchanged it for him. https://backstory.london/products/subscription
