Thread 13 - the one where I'm dashing for the school run!

1000 replies

Reastie · 22/11/2024 07:25

Apologies for the rubbish title - I'm trying to get the kids ready and don't want my daughter to miss the bus!

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

If you have any voucher codes to share (or want to check for any) then have a look https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212144-sharing-voucher-codes

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes here . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

@headshoulderskneestoesheart look at the revolution website. Something like this mean girls set perhaps? www.revolutionbeauty.com/uk/en/makeup/makeup-sets/mean-girls-x-revolution-gift-set/1831345.html

All half price and very reasonable even when not

Waaah I got too excited about the theatre ticket discounts and booked tickets for 29th November instead of 29th December by mistake - and we can't go then!

Anybody want to buy 3 tickets to The Play That Goes Wrong at Duchess Theatre in London on Friday 29th November, 7.30pm? Good seats - Stalls K4, K5, K6

I paid £135 total, will accept offers!!

I'm no help but I do appreciate that your purchase that went wrong is for the play they went wrong 😂

hugsandpugs · 22/11/2024 22:07

Not sure who recommended the Papier code earlier but unfortunately it doesn’t stack with the referral code 😊

Notlongnow1 · 22/11/2024 22:08

Yoto sale starts... on Monday! Apologies for any frustration I may have caused thinking it was today!

I have a £6 off £60 spend for Argos if anyone needs it

I would love this if you don’t need it and it’s not gone

Did you buy them direct from Mischief? I'm sure our T's and C's were that they would exhange them for you up to 24 or 48 hours before? In fact they don't send out the tickets until you have confirmed you are coming by an email sent a few days before, which they tell you to look out for at point of sale. Perhaps different if purchased elsewhere but I have found since Covid theatre's are usually quite flexible about attendance as long as it's not a last minute thing. Definately contact direct to find out. Good luck!

Not seen this thread before so going to read through it. Thanks

I'm noticing BLC isn't working on much the last couple of days!

ChristmasJumperz · 22/11/2024 22:25

I keep reading about freeze dried sweets being all the rage this year. I can see plenty online but as anyone come across any irl? ta

MammaGnomes · 22/11/2024 22:35

Im so annoyed with myself. I had a Pandora bracelet and 2 charms in my basket on the £99 offer and thought I'll wait for BF to see if it's any cheaper expecting the £99 offer to still be there too.

The same bracelet and charms is £5 dearer and the £99 offer is nowhere to be seen! My mum and SIL have bought daughter charms already so I'm going to have to buy it.

paintyhands · 22/11/2024 22:36

I think there was talk a while back of the Spode Christmas Tree range. I’ve been looking for a while and found a decent deal on La Redoute - it works out at just over £70 for the 12 piece dinner set with the current 15% discount they are running. Hope this is helpful to somebody!

headshoulderskneestoesheart · 22/11/2024 22:37

@ChristmasJumperz Bought through London Theatre Direct - I didn't want to pay the extra £8/ticket insurance, which means no refunds. Oops. They'll exchange for a different date, with an admin fee and paying the difference for higher priced seats - but all the dates we can actually do are way more expensive for way worse seats. What a plonker.

MammaGnomes · 22/11/2024 22:38

Also has anyone received an order from Solace Jewellery? I'm waiting on some earrings this week and today received a box with just a packet of sweets and card thanking me for supporting them. I'm really hoping that this was just a little extra thank you and my earrings are on their way and not that some little toe rag has intercepted my order. The box wasn't sealed. Just folded into itself to close so no really way of knowing

headshoulderskneestoesheart · 22/11/2024 22:39

@RJnomore1 Thank you - they've got some good options! Have found a Harry Potter set by a brand I hadn't heard of called SheGlam too :-)

Hi all, I requested the below on the old thread before I noticed the new one had started!
I’ve seen people mention personalised books before but can’t find the posts now! Can anyone recommend a Christmas personalised book for a 6 year old (very good reader) please?
Evtheria mentioned Wunderbly,( thank you!) is there a particular book anyone would recommend?

Our kids love this one

Can anyone advise on bath toys for a 6 year old boy please? I've got him bath bombs, he's not interested in crayons, he's got cups that he uses already. Nothing too babyish. Thank you!

ChristmasJumperz · 22/11/2024 22:55

@headshoulderskneestoesheart Sorry to hear you're not able to do anything without the extra costs. Fingers crossed you find a buyer. Our local area chat always has people selling tickets last minute

I was intrigued as I only half saw them & honestly did not know this was a thing!- so I’ve just googled & home bargains have some on their website but out of stock. Maybe they might stock in store though?
when I go back to the spar ill have a proper look!!
