Thread 13 - the one where I'm dashing for the school run!

1000 replies

Reastie · 22/11/2024 07:25

Apologies for the rubbish title - I'm trying to get the kids ready and don't want my daughter to miss the bus!

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

If you have any voucher codes to share (or want to check for any) then have a look https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212144-sharing-voucher-codes

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes here . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Waaah I got too excited about the theatre ticket discounts and booked tickets for 29th November instead of 29th December by mistake - and we can't go then!

Anybody want to buy 3 tickets to The Play That Goes Wrong at Duchess Theatre in London on Friday 29th November, 7.30pm? Good seats - Stalls K4, K5, K6

I paid £135 total, will accept offers!!

Oh cock. That’s annoying, have you tried ringing the theatre? Complete long shot I know but you never know. Or you could try Twickets for selling them (just remember to up the cost slight to cover your fees)

There's a BNIB on Vinted for £25 plus whatever the postage might be.

I did favourite that one, thinking that might be my best bet but so unsure if actual BF will have better deals?!

Does anybody have an office or schuh discount code, please? Daughter wants expensive Uggs 🤦🏻‍♀️

Iwanttoputmytreeup · 22/11/2024 19:53

@nearlylovemyusername Laithwaite's do some nice hampers and at least one of them is alcohol free. Referrals on the thread get you £40 off £80 so you could potentially get get 2 presents for not much more than your budget for the one

This is what came in the first Dean's shortbread "hamper"....packed in a normal cardboard box but good value. Looks like they are doing it again but one of the tins has been swapped for a different one.

Justwingingit2005 · 22/11/2024 20:11

My deans bk hamper arrived today. Gonna spilt it between parents (and myself)

Delahot · 22/11/2024 20:15

@Talisin thanks for the Highland Titlesinfo. I can’t see the bit with the Highland cow? Can you point me in the right direction please.

Talisin · 22/11/2024 20:29

@Delahot here you go! for some reason they hide it under (udder?) Accessories on the menu.

@Carrie76 my 15 year old DD has the XXL in the nupste and it fits well she's been wearing it for a year now. Can fit a hoody underneath.

lemonsmum · 22/11/2024 21:23

Tesco must of been reading the thread as they've mentioned the wicked pjs on the latest email.

dn13 wants a fungi embroidery kit and some fungi mushroom cute stuff. Any ideas?! Thanks

ShinyPrettyThings87 · 22/11/2024 21:27

@DraftUp I'm sure I've seen some on Etsy! The embroidery kits but there's likely some needle felting kits too ☺️

headshoulderskneestoesheart · 22/11/2024 21:39

Has anyone seen a nice makeup set suitable for DD 11 years old? I bought this awesome Wizard of Oz one for her cousin, and she's desperate for something like this, but not the exact same one...

www.beautyoutlet.co.uk/products/revolution-x-wizard-of-oz-set

A lot of sets seem to be just eyes, or just lips, and haven't found one so far that feels a bit special / themed rather than just a collection of normal-looking makeup items in a fancy pouch etc.

She's obviously too young for fancy stuff, or even for wearing it out of the house, perhaps other than the school disco, but fun to experiment!

I have a £6 off £60 spend for Argos if anyone needs it
