Thread 13 - the one where I'm dashing for the school run!

1000 replies

Reastie · 22/11/2024 07:25

Apologies for the rubbish title - I'm trying to get the kids ready and don't want my daughter to miss the bus!

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

If you have any voucher codes to share (or want to check for any) then have a look https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212144-sharing-voucher-codes

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes here . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Stock informer is a handy site http://www.stockinformer.co.uk/default.aspx?fullsite=1

I received the o2 priority free Tony’s Chocoloney chocolate bar today. We ate it while waiting for dinner to finish cooking and I have to say it was delicious. Will definitely buy these in the future.

Arghh sorry, try this .

Thank you! Yes I remember this as I was pondering whether to purchase. Was it on an offer?

My two loved playmobil in the bath at that age - boats and submarines

Submarine is a good idea thankylu!

He loves penguins. There's a penguin iceberg float game that comes up on Google but it seems to be sold out. This would have been perfect for him!

CandyRaining · 22/11/2024 18:17

Thanks @User202242 and @psuedocream3
I had a dispatch notification this afternoon funnily enough. Round here evri are great, it’s dpd and yodel who are the dreaded ones, parcels go to other peoples houses or never appear.

Londonmummy66 · 22/11/2024 18:17

PlanBea · 22/11/2024 15:28

Try this clicky link

I've not bought but seen lots of good talking about them!

I have bought from her and it was so good (as good if not better than turtle doves) that I went back a bought a load more. Comes beautifully wrapped in tissue and if you buy more than one they are individually wrapped.

IlovePond · 22/11/2024 18:18

@psuedocream3 - Evri are really shocking, aren’t they? Same thing happened to me with an eBay purchase and the seller wouldn’t refund me as Evri tracking showed it ‘in transit’! I had to wait almost a month and call eBay CS before they acted on my request for a refund. Again, fortunately I’d used PP.

My Chocoloney arrived - I got salted caramel - did everyone get the same? Thanks so much to whoever gave the o2 heads up - I never remember to check Priority.

IlovePond · 22/11/2024 18:21

Thanks also to @sunshine8 for the Pooch a/c code. It came today and it looks great. I have hidden it from DDog, who I am sure will love it! 🐾

IlovePond · 22/11/2024 18:23

Has anyone found any pre-BF bargains? I must admit, the concept of ‘BF week’ just seems weird!

I am eyeing up the d/w tablets on Amazon but that’s not very Xmassy🙀

IamChipmunk · 22/11/2024 18:23

@motheronthedancefloor Molton Brown is 20% off on John Lewis at the moment

psuedocream3 · 22/11/2024 18:29

@IlovePond Ironically we don't generally have many issues with Evri, until nearer Christmas, when they hire temp drivers for the Christmas period. Saving grace is it was a treat for me so although annoying, not too bad. And I've finished my Christmas shopping, so that stress is avoided. On the other hand, Amazon have been superb which isn't always the case.Yum on the chocolonely, thats my favourite flavour.

@CandyRaining Good to hear you've had it shipped now, fingers crossed for swift delivery.

TheBigFish · 22/11/2024 18:38

@psuedocream3 my VB arrived yesterday. No knock on door just left on doorstep by Evri. But all in one piece. More than can be said for my ELF package which was put through the door by Royal Mail. Envelope open and completely empty! However ELF customer service great, they responded within 10 minutes to my email and said they would send a replacement.

headshoulderskneestoesheart · 22/11/2024 18:38

Waaah I got too excited about the theatre ticket discounts and booked tickets for 29th November instead of 29th December by mistake - and we can't go then!

Anybody want to buy 3 tickets to The Play That Goes Wrong at Duchess Theatre in London on Friday 29th November, 7.30pm? Good seats - Stalls K4, K5, K6

I paid £135 total, will accept offers!!

heartheart89 · 22/11/2024 18:39

I can't remember who was looking for rubix cube, saw this set in home bargains and thought it looked good.

@Reastie, 'the one with the Highland Titties' for next thread title! Xmas Grin

Iwanttoputmytreeup · 22/11/2024 18:56

@TheBigFish
My elf package came open too...luckily the items were there but Royal Mail had attempted to rescue it....it think it was poor packaging in my case rather than poor delivery as the envelope didn't appear to stick :(

Lidlisthebusiness · 22/11/2024 18:57

@FilthyforFirth Very have the Triwizard set for £19.99.

I think it was around the same price as it is now so I doubt it will drp any further

lotsofthingstolearn · 22/11/2024 18:58

Paul Smith have 30% off lots of items

ruralwanderer · 22/11/2024 19:20

Big discounts at Wet Wednesdays but only on small child sizes. Both my 5 and 7 year olds live in the bubble boots which even at full price are great value for money.

My elf parcel was empty too! What is going on with their packaging?! Thankfully they aent it agian quicker (abs much better packaged!) but one of the items was out of stock so they refunded me but they reduced it by the £2 cos of the voucher and that brought it under the level for getting samples so they didnt send those either! Which i thought was a but cheeky
